I really needed and wanted my teeth cleaned. I wanted a dentist in Sparks. My kid's original dentist retired after my daughter graduated from high school. My poor son had to go through several ok dentists before finding this office. My son and husband go here and really like the office. I have brought my son here for several appointments. As a matter of fact, the front office was so kind and professional that I decided to try it for myself. I am so glad I did. I am beyond pleased with the dental hygienist and Margaret Heinen. What a great office. (I really wish that I had remembered the name of the hygienist that I saw as she was top-notch). Kathy the receptionist is friendly, kind, knowledgeable and professional. They offer fresh-baked cookies and cold water bottles.

The office staff has more than once overcharged me and then it is very hard to get them to refund the money in a timely way. Once could be a mistake but more than once this has happened and I suspect it is deliberate. They tell me I have to pay the exact amount my insurance company pays when my part of the bill should be less. It appears as though they think I won't look closely at my insurance statements afterwards and won't catch the mistake. It's very suspicious.

I am more than disappointed to have to write this review, unfortunately, I have experienced a…read moreneglect in the customer service from the office. The recent process of dental work that I have had recently has left me looking for another dental office. During my visit in September 2025, I was informed that my bridge was 'failing' and in addition I had a cavity underneath a crown, and in addition to that, an adjacent tooth had to be removed. To me, as a lay person, this sounded like a tremendous amount of work and cost. I felt the office manager or Cercek should have sat down with me and gone over various options. However, I was only given a referral to an oral surgeon for implants. Implants did not seem to be a good option for me after having an appointment with the referral dentist. Aside from the exorbitant cost, the x-ray showed that I would need a 'sinus uplift'. The oral surgeon did not even bother to discuss the fact that I have periodontal disease and how that can sometimes complicate issues and even having the implants 'fail'! On my own, I researched other options such as a partial denture. I was very disappointed that no information or options were given to me by the office. I, again, had to research on my own what would potentially be my reimbursement from the insurance company because Cercek is out of network. I only had $825 left for 2025. In 2026, the maximum reimbursement would be $1,500. Because I did the research, I decided to split the dental work that needed to be done over December 2025 and January 2026. I made an appointment for December 17, 2025 and another for the partial on January 14, 2026 shortly after the September visit. I later found out (at the 17th appointment) that a minimum of 6 weeks is required for healing. From the 17th of 2025 to the 14th 2026 is only 4 weeks! My appointment was moved up one week to the 10th of December, but even still that is not 6 weeks! From my researching, yet again, I found out that healing can take up to 3 months. The fact that the office didn't take the time to help me in scheduling is a gross neglect! Back in 2011 I had the adjacent tooth pulled, the oral surgeon packed the gum with cadaver bone and put in a couple of stiches. The tooth that Cercek pulled had bone loss, and I even asked if there would be bone filled in, and the answer was no with no explanation. No stiches either. Why would I go in for a measurement for a partial denture when my gums/mouth are not completely healed. That makes no sense. So, I called to cancel my appointment for the 14th and to relay these complaints to your office manager. I was told she was in a meeting. Did not receive a call back, so called again and was asked if I could be put on a 'brief hold', which I did. 10 minutes after being on hold, I hung up. Called back yet again and was asked 'what is a good time that the office manager could call you back.' Very, very poor customer service. And this is not even the whole story, but that would require a very very lengthy review.

Low and behold, wild Creek dental sells their own dental plan and it is better than the option that I had taken from me. I couldn't be happier with the work that I've had done. I had a veneer and three porcelain crowns put on and am very very happy with the service given by the dentist and all employees. They were all very nice very professional and again I just couldn't be happier if I could give them six stars I would!

So, I went to my trusty Yelp app to search for a local dentist and found Pyramid Family Dental. After reading the reviews, I decided to suck it up and give them a try. My first visit included xrays, pictures, and a comprehensive dental plan. I knew what to expect and what the cost would be. Everyone was SO NICE. No judgment, no sarcasm, no rudeness. Just a nice group of people that thank you for choosing them and then do everything they can to make you comfortable. I have now been to Pyramid Family Dental four times and it's safe to say that their kindness and professionalism isn't a fluke. They are just awesome! What really solidified the 5 stars is what I DON'T hear them do. Let me explain - there are so many establishments that don't realize that their patrons can hear what is happening at the desk. So every comment or remark they may utter about a customer can many times be heard by a separate customer. While in one of the rooms, I can hear almost everything that the front desk staff is saying and I have never heard anything unbecoming. You'll be treated with respect to your face and behind your back. :) Huge shoutout to Joyce. I've been in her chair a few times now and I just love her. X-rays, the exam, and cleaning were $59 as advertised on the window, which is what brought me in. I also got an additional fluoride treatment, which brought the total to $91. I had Malaika as my hygienist, and she and Dr. Van were great. I really appreciated that they were friendly without trying to ask me my life story. I don't want to yap about myself, especially when other people's hands are in my mouth, providing a service! Sparks Modern Dentistry is on Epic's electronic medical record, and I loved that I could see the images and the information on the screen. The Smile Generation branded MyChart patient portal was excellent for providing the patient care notes. At my other dentist, that part has always been a black box, because they are on a different practice management system that doesn't have a patient portal. Dr DePrado determined I needed a new crown to replace my very old compromised crown. I agreed. She asked Brandon to review my payment costs as my dental insurance does not cover replacement crowns. I was happy with the negotiated price. To my surprise, the replacement crown was completed and set in place within 2 hours. So very happy. The patient care I received from Dr DePrado, Mea, and Brandon was exceptional and outstanding.
