We had Clarence come out and do some work for us. he was fast, professional, did good work, cleaned up after himself, and was very reasonably priced. In additionan, he took the time to understand enough the work we were asking for to recognize that one of the things two other electricians had told us was a $400 fix actually required actually no work on his part or cost to us to resolve, and was completely code-compliant. So if you want an electrician that actually engages his brain when determining how resolve your issues in a cost-effective manner, Clarence is the guy for you. OK - this is not a review per se but a testament of their character. I was in a real bind to get an electrician out to my house to run a low voltage wire for my upstairs AC that went out. I got a quote, from the AC company who came out and diagnosed my issue, of $1,500 to run the wire. Uh, no go. I have used C Read & Son before so I contacted them first. They said they would love to help but they are booked solid for the next few weeks. Well, when it is 107 degrees outside and your AC is not working, waiting is not really an option. However, as my wife and I were driving out to get something to eat my phone rang. It was Jacki from C Read & Son. She said she read my dilemma and wanted to give me a call and some pointers that Clarence wanted to convey. They told me that even though they did not know the details of running the wires from the attic, down the wall and out to my AC unit, but they did tell me what to possibly expect from someone who would be doing the work and just as important on a very rough estimate on what it would cost, tops. So, the $1,500 was way out of line. And they gave me a referral to another electrician. (Sorry but I did not go with them as I forgot their name and went with another company). But with the knowledge that they provided, I was very comfortable with the electrician that we did ultimately go with and they too did a great job. However, even though the other electricians did a fantastic job for us, C Read & Sons will continue to be our go to company for our electrical work. read more

We had Clarence come to our home to quote a new circuit for an over the range Microwave/Convection Oven. The estimate included cutting drywall so that the wiring could be run to the cabinet. We were called the night before and our appointment was confirmed by Jackie in the office. He arrived right on time today to complete the work. To our amazement he was able to complete the job without cutting any finished walls. He completed the job below the estimated price. He left our home spotless, no dust or debris anywhere. I used them to clean up some of the electrical issues that were noted on my new house from the inspector. I had met with two other electricians to get a bid. One of them had no clue about not needing to bond the breaker to plastic pipes. The other one tried to sell me on re-wiring my entire breaker box since my microwave does not have the proper voltage feeding into it. C Read and Son did not try to sell me on work that I did not need. He was also aware that plastic pipes do not need to be bonded to the breaker box. In terms of the work I had him do, he exceeded my expectations and he was reasonably priced. I plan on using him for all my future needs since I know that he does quality work at a reasonable price and he knows what he is doing. But most importantly I know that he won't try to sell me on expensive work that does not need to get done. read more
