Douglas Wright Electric, recently installed a garage sub-panel and both 115V and 230V 20A ceiling twist-lock receptacles dedicated to my woodworking machinery. All work was fully permitted and inspected by the city, Douglas Wright Electric is now finishing up the electrical for a Mini-Split (HVAC) system for my garage so I can work comfortably during the summer; I have a licensed HVAC guy installing the actual Mini-split unit. But after that is done, I already have Douglas Wright Electric slated for some inside the house electrical re-wiring work to fix a screw-up by the original home builder. I now can't imagine calling anyone else now than Douglas Wright Electric. Professional, knowledgeable, fair, and a great guy as are his helpers. And they won't leave a mess. Integrety defines their buisiness and work. Don't mess around with a company who will send someone out to your home from a pool of non-licensed, questionably trained/knowledgable who are working under someone else's license while calling themselves an electrician. When I first put in my request in Yelp, Douglas answered in about 10 minutes. We set up an appointment. Douglas was here at our home on time. He is very personable and knowledgeable. I had already had another company here looking at what I wanted to do. I was told by the other company that the antique chandelier that I bought couldn't be hung. Douglas took one look at it and said that is crazy that all it needed was to change out the box that goes against the ceiling. Both my husband and myself felt really comfortable talking with him. When we got his quote to hang the chandelier, change out a light to a light with a ceiling fan, hang two kitchen chandeliers, and create and hang a ceiling fan with a light outdoors we couldn't believe it. It was about $1400 cheaper than the first quote from the other company. Douglas and Peter showed up today to do all the work except for the kitchen lights which have not arrived yet from the factory where I bought them. On October 1, Douglas came to move some wiring in our house previous to the installation of a new oven unit. I selected him because I thought if a man puts his name on his business, he must be reputable. On October 18, the oven unit that Douglas had wired quit functioning. I decided to call an electrician with many years of experience in the area. The electrician came today, October 20, and found the wiring Douglas did had been done improperly. There were exposed wires in the junction box and the unit had shorted out because there were only two strands of wire that led to the unit. Those wires were completely exposed. I watched as the electricians removed the wiring from where Douglas had installed them. I thought Douglas' fee of $350 was high, but I assumed the work would be done well. It wasn't. Obviously, I will not be using Douglas again and do not recommend him. read more
