Great experience!! I go here every year with my friends. A bit hidden but that adds to the ambiance and privacy.

I'm going to admit up front that I just don't think I am a C3 kind of guy. They're known for their amazing cocktails and fancy meals and I'm just not one to enjoy or appreciate that. When I order a $20+ hamburger I just expect more. But it's a beautiful location and the service is fine. If you like a few cocktails with your meal and are interested in the atmosphere likely as much as the food, it's probably a great option. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a coke. The coke was a bottle (if you follow me you know my thoughts on this) and my cheeseburger was cooked perfectly, though the amount of bacon was minimal at best. The fries were amazing. My wife ordered the chef's chicken special (sorry I'm not sure what it was called exactly) and she liked it but didn't love it. Our server was very nice but it did take a bit to get initial service and the pace of the meal seemed slow given it wasn't very crowded when we were there. All in all, it was a fine meal but not my favorite in town. If I want a burger there are better options at more reasonable price points. read more

We made a reservation online, but it probably wasn't necessary since the restaurant was fairly empty with the college students gone for summer break. Despite all the open seating, we were placed right between two other parties, which was a little annoying. The service itself was just okay. Nothing terrible, but nothing particularly memorable either--mostly just taking orders and bringing out food. The portions were on the smaller side, though you'll definitely get full if you order enough dishes. The frites were good and reminded me of Five Guys fries. I ordered the chicken, while my husband got the chef's special: homemade potato gnocchi with tenderloin. The chicken was decent but a little dry and really depended on the sauce for flavor. For our dogs BirthDay, Becky and Me went out to celebrate at C3 (dog had to stay home, LOL!). Making a resrevation was super easy, and we were seated in a cosy table in a roomy dining nook. We knew the food would be good because the menu was small- Hats Off to Exacutuve Chef Matthew Smits!!! Becky got the 'Chicken' and loved the savory broth and decadent cilantro(?) sproutes. The chicken VERY juicy too! I got the Fulaful- I don't even know what that is, but I felt adventerous! I loved the orange sweet potatoes and Pistashio Nuts, and the savory Spinach was incredible! The feta cheese on the fulafel got swallowed by all the other flavors, but an incredible meal none theless!! Keep up the GREAT COOKING!!! read more

Everything was amazing here! Nicest restaurant I've been to in a while. I made a reservation with my parents for Friday evening which I would recommend doing because it was very busy. We loved the atmosphere though - the building is kind of interesting and the decoration was very classy. Maybe the main area was a little loud, but we ended up seated in a semi-private room with one other table, so we had relative quiet. It was dim but not in a bad way. All of the staff was very friendly. Our waiter was attentive and enthusiastic but didn't come across as trying to upsell us. Drinks were excellent. I usually just go for beer, but the cocktail menu looked really interesting, so I got a cocktail was very glad I did. I got the rye-based "boss fight", which was very strong with unique, complex flavours. I also had many sips of my dad's earl grey cocktail - also very interesting and delicious - and my mom's "problem child" with non-alcoholic gin. They have a really nice non-alcoholic drink menu with different NA spirits too. Food was equally excellent. We got the muhammara appetizer, I had the butternut agnolotti for my entreee, and we shared a chocolate and a vanilla-cranberry bread pudding for dessert. My dad said the muhammara was one of the best dips he's ever had. The middle eastern flavour was a little different from stuff you usually get at American restaurants, and it was presented very nicely with different garnishes. The blue cheese cream sauce on the agnolotti was also a little different and really complimented the flavour of the squash. The bread pudding may have been the best bread pudding I've had in a restaurant - it was very moist but wasn't too sweet or too rich. The chocolate cake was kind of like an oreo cake with the thick vanilla frosting and cookie crumbs - not your generic chocolate cake with white frosting, but conventional enough that I think it would make anyone happy. Maybe the portions of the entrees alone are a little small, but I think they were the right size to enjoy along with a shared appetizer and dessert. While traveling back from Memphis to Michigan, we had a planned stopped in Bloomington, IN, to break up the trip. We stayed downtown near the IU campus, but we were looking for a little more upscale, locally sourced restaurant for dinner. After some research we found C3 Bar which looked interesting. It was a short Uber ride ( about 8-10 minutes) from our Hotel. It's off campus, nestled in a condo/community with other upscale shops. The decor inside was dark, but warm, with a nice buzz. We were lucky enough to score two seats at the bar, which is our preference. We were greeted by Nick, the bartender, very friendly. After ordering our cocktails, which were very well made by the way we narrowed down our dinner options. The Falafel: Chickpea pea Falafel, Roasted Sweet Potato-Sesame Purée, Za'atar Roasted Cauliflower, Sautéed Spinach Toasted Pistachios, Valbreso Feta, Zhaug. The dish was absolutely amazing, so may fresh flavors that combined so well. We also ordered the Muhamarra; Syrian Roasted Red Pepper-Walnut Spread, Pomegranate Molasses, EVOO, and served with toasted flatbread. This dish was also amazing with great flavors. Both of these would be something we would order again. Everything on their menu is locally sourced and fresh. Definitely worth checking out if your in Bloomington. This is one of the more well-regarded restaurants in Bloomington--that is, it's where faculty take guests to dinner. That said, I was underwhelmed, finding most of the food so oily that it was hard for me to get down (although it's possible I was having an off-day as an eater). To their credit, everything was cooked basically perfectly--that is, shrimp were fried and spaghetti boiled to the right amount of bite, broccolini appropriately charred, etc. That said, I found a lot of the flavors to be somewhat lacking and overall didn't find it to be up to reputation. read more

Good food that is well prepared but the menu items haven't changed for many years. It's stale. The bar itself is nice but if you're seated on the second level, it feels like you're in a diner or something. No tablecloths on the very basic tables. No flowers. Lighting is way too bright. A lovely spot with great service and a huge cocktail list- there were so many delicious sounding concoctions at such reasonable prices! I had the special salmon and it was a very generous portion and cooked perfectly- my partner had the meatballs which he loved and the Caesar salad that came with a side of Brussels sprouts- another generous portioned plate. I started my new year by saying I would visit one new restaurant each month. I can finally say that I have accomplished that goal ! C3 was our December restaurant pick. We made reservations on our 3 year anniversary that ended up being cancelled because the restaurant was closed. No worries, we just moved our reservation to the next day. When we got there, the manager apologized for the cancellation and comped our drinks. My partner accidentally ordered the wrong drink. Our server tried to replace it, but my partner wouldn't allow it. He said the drink he received was fine. I had ordered an espresso martini and it was delicious, albeit a tiny bit strong. We decided to skip appetizers and go straight for the mains. I ordered the gnudi, something I had never had before. The pieces of pasta were made with cheese unlike gnocchi which is made with potato. It was absolutely delightful - and all of the veggies in the dish were cooked to perfection. I could have honestly eaten a second serving, it was that good ! I loved the sauce in it especially. My partner had to try their cheeseburger and declared it the best burger in Bloomington. After we were done eating, we went ahead and ordered the caramel apple bread pudding. My parent was super impressed with it, but I thought it was a pretty typical bread pudding. Which didn't make it bad, it was delicious ! The manager had comped our dessert, as well, since we were celebrating our anniversary. Overall... If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would ! We were at C3 for birthday dinner and drinks . The food was mediocre and overpriced. We were seated on the second level and a bit crowded too with tables too closely. I ordered Green Apple Martini also known as Appletini . To my big disbelief the waitress came back with a completely different cocktail . She insisted it's Green Apple Martini. IT WASN'T ‼ The bartender nor the waitress have no idea whatsoever what Apple Martini is. Clearly the bartender doesn't know how to make it or perhaps never mixed up an apple martini cocktail before . Very simple to make with only three main ingredients. So this is a big disappointment for me that a pricey bar restaurant like C3 can't make a Green Apple Martini read more

Sorry to say but tonight I had probably the worst meal I have had in many years. All of the other experiences I have had at this restaurant have been fabulous. But tonight the chef special duck was awful. The meat was full of gristle and too tough to chew. The dish was flavorless as well. I often come in here & split the night with Truffles Fine Dining nearby. I've met several other regulars that do the same. Ironically I believe the head chefs trained together so it seems appropriate. There are things I like better at both restaurants but they're both in the same vein and close together. I usually check the specials online and whichever ones I like better I start at the other bar And get a drink and then eat specials at the place I prefer. C3 has a little less parking and the neighborhood is tricky. I've got lost in here several times. It's right next-door to a great coffee shop. They do have a lovely patio. Their bar program is stellar and creative and changes often. My main complaint is how dim it is in here as I don't have great night vision and it's been hard to see the menu etc. when I come in with my for dinner. The service has always been very professional, and the bartenders are very knowledgeable about the drinks. I should probably give them 10 more stars because one time when I was eating with my six-year-old on the patio, and I accidentally lost my purse, the server made sure I got it back the next day. The atmosphere of this place is awesome- it feels swanky and gives a much more urban vibe than most restaurants in a college town. And they have really great cocktails. Annnnd they have a plant meet up/exchange. The food is consistently good, as is the service. I would say it is one of my top three upscale restaurant choices in Bloomington. Nooo, what happened C3?! I've been here a handful a times since my first amazing time....and the dishes AND dessert have been really lackluster. The sliders (Beef Filet Sliders, Horseradish Cream, Crispy Onion, Brioche Bun), C3 burgers (Aged Cheddar, Applewood Smoked Bacon, LTO, Mayonnaise, Pickles, Hand-Cut Frites) and fries are the only reliable menu items here. But, that being said the burger is fantastic here. So much flavor, juicy patty and just overall oomph - a really solid burger. However, the problem is that lots of places in town have sliders, burgers and fries.... Chef's kiss!! I didn't think they'd be getting 5 stars after we waited 1:15+ and they had estimated 35 minutes, but somehow they redeemed themselves. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive. Drinks were great (and strong) and surprisingly not as expensive as I was expecting, especially considering one will do. My friend got two drinks and let's just say she wasn't driving home. Recommend the Mai Tai or warrior paint! Food-wise I only had dessert but my friends were raving about the fries and some nudey salad (probably botched that spelling but oh well). And get dessert!! Truly one of the best meals I have had in Bloomington. Tried C3 last night since they were participating in Devour B-town. They had a three course menu for $25, what a deal. The location is off the beaten path, over on the Southeast side in the middle of a townhouse development. Not exactly a location you would think of as having a great bar and restaurant, and yet it is. The building is very nice, both inside and out. Beautiful bar, with what I think are limestone accents. They do not take reservations, but our party was seated quickly even though the room was crowded early (5:30) on a Tuesday evening. Our server was excellent. She took our orders and was knowledgable and enthusiastic about the menu and the drinks. Our party of four ordered a variety of dishes from the Devour menu. I had the Caesar salad, chicken with risotto and warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. The meal was well paced and the plates were absolutely beautiful. The food was superb. We overheard the party next to us talking about how this was also their first time at C3 and how this would be their "new restaurant Tallent". If you are familiar at all with the Bloomington food scene, you know this is high praise indeed. Just an overall terrific experience. We cannot wait for our next evening at C3. read more

They need to pay better attention to seating but overall service is very good. Drinks are top notch. Food is acceptable. It's dependable but definitely not something special.
