So I typically eat lunch at The Office Lounge on Monday or Wednesday, as it's the day their 'Butt Steak Special' takes place, but this week I did a Thursday with a small group of friends and realized I haven't ever reviewed the place. Figured I should fix that. It's a great dining option, and I'm sure if I was a bar-going person it would be an amazing bar option in Bloomington if you want to stay away from the downtown/student/club like vibes. The office lounge is located on the East side of town, and has all the 'dive bar' feels with great food and people, good service and reasonable prices. The steak special lunch is a nice piece of sirloin, French fries, and a piece of Texas Toast for less than a basic meal at McDonalds. And it's good. This week I tried the sirloin burger for the first time, also with fries, and everything was great. The tenderloin is also a favorite (it's Indiana, of course it is) and I hear great things about other meals. Service is always quick, though it can get pretty crowded at lunch so keep that in mind. Plenty of parking if you're creative in the lot. All in all, a great option for anyone looking for a great bar-level food menu and good prices. read more

I honestly come for the food but the drinks are cheap and strong too! The ambience is almost biker bar, definitely dive bar with great cheap food, a liquor store, some attitude, pool tables & some pull tabs. If you're feeling salty or in a mood, this is your spot! I like The Office Lounge. Everytime my parents come and visit me we choose The Office to go eat and catch up. I mistakenly forgot my ID (I'm 27 almost 28) and was asked if I had it. I told them I forgot it, but I wasn't planning on drinking anything. I was told I would have to leave or speak with management. When I asked the manager on duty if I could stay if I wasn't drinking they rudely answered with "NO YOU GOT TO GO" and wouldn't even look at us. Then while we were leaving the waitress rudely made the remark "you should know better then to not bring your wallet at your age". Mind you we were just simply asking and we had no intention on making a scene. I'm not mad about the ID rule, I understand they are protecting their bar, but the response that we received was definitely uncalled for and extremely disrespectful. That's okay though. They lost our business for now on. We went to another restaurant and spent over $100 and gave the waitress a healthy tip that could of been theirs. Oh well.. read more

Historically, this has been a great place to spend time. However, a recent change to the TouchTunes system, which now restricts explicit songs, has been disappointing. The lunch waitstaff continue to provide excellent service and are the primary reason we still return. read more

Incredible place. We went to visit my daughter at the university, Didn't want to go to a chain restaurant. No Olive Garden, no outback, etc etc etc. The service, entertainment, hospitality Indescribable. For example I wanted a ham and cheese after the kitchen was close and they made it for us. The food and the service is very, very good. For a tiny kitchen, they do a great job with simple food. The tenderloin is amazing, the patty melt (get a side of 10000 Island) is fabulous and the steak specials on Friday and Saturday night are a bargain! When I first moved to Bloomington, an Uber driver told me to never visit The Office because it was a "townie" bar. Yes, I did feel all the stares when I walked in looking for my friends but then it was business as usual. My friends were already chowing down on Indiana's finest all golden brown, deep fried everything. I didn't partake in any eating, but I did do some drinking! Amazingly cheap - per usu. in Bloomington! A pitcher of beer and two shots for about ~$15 (with tip!) Also, there was not an undergrad in sight. We played pool because it was free the evening we went (Thursday I believe) but it wasn't in good shape. Note: they don't have any kind of playing cards because they sell pull tabs. 86/365 read more

Every town has a local tavern that's tops! 'The Office' is the one for Bloomington. Great mix of locals and college folks. Wonderful food, drink, service, sports, gaming, Karaoke, pool tables and poker night. I see my neighbors, friends and family regularly. I meet new people and chat, or old friends and catch up. This is as solid of an establishment in B-Town as it gets . Have never had a bad meal here and the Employees are always super nice . I know that most of the menu is bar food but if you want to pay a bit extra get the NY Strip Steak dinner ( $16 it's a steal ) comes with choice of tatter's and side salad mmm so freaking good and the temp you order your steak is actually the temp you get ( a concept that is lost at most places but not here ) !! Definition of a Towny Bar and we LOVE IT! The staff is friendly and will get to know your face and name. The breaded tenderloin will CHANGE YOUR LIFE! Small parking lot but several nearby lots to use. Cheap and hot food. Don't expect a fancy ambiance, but you can count on a good time. Free pool through out the week and karaoke on the weekends. Decent Friday night karaoke. The staff were excellent, and the drinks were stiff enough, but the track list was really lacking in some classic jams. I got to sing like five songs in 2 hours, which was a steady clip, but the audience wasn't really there for karaoke. On the whole, it wasn't a bad experience, but I went there for karaoke and it seemed like kind of an afterthought. Great people watching though.
