Farm Bloomington is one of my favorite brunch spots in Bloomington. The staff and waitresses are always friendly, attentive, and on top of everything, and the food is consistently excellent and comes out quickly. I especially love the strawberry salad, avocado toast, and their teas. Everything is always fresh, well prepared, and delicious. $60-70 Let me tell you what I experienced on 2/13/26. We had an OpenTable reservation, and our group traveled to Bloomington (from Carmel) for a play. We tried calling several times throughout the day to notify FARM that we needed to change the reservation because two of our guests were ill and would not be able to join. The restaurant's phone just kept forwarding to voicemail. We arrived at our reservation time and were told that we would be charged via OpenTable for the guests who did not join. When I mentioned the phone issue, the hostess said that it did not matter if we had called today, because the cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance. I did not know they would be ill 24 hours prior to the reservation - but whatever. I was not happy, but did not argue the issue. We were seated, only to find that there was a prefix "Valentine's Day Menu". We thought that was interesting because we had researched the website & menu before the evening, and there was no mention of this menu being the only option for Friday (2/13) night. Even the menu PDF says "Valentine's Day" - there were signs throughout the restaurant noting "Valentine's Day Menu". The server also mentioned that many other patrons were upset. The items on the menu were also priced far higher than the regular menu. So, we were excited to try FARM, arrived to a very sassy attitude (from the host) about the party size, noting that I was going to be charged. Getting to the table to see a modified menu, whose prices were jacked up. The (very sweet) server validated our feelings and confirmed that other patrons were upset, too. We finally just decided to leave. On the way out, the "sassy" host was snarky and mentioned that we would likely be charged again for the remaining guests leaving and not eating. I have pictures of the signs, and screenshots of the website - and I dare FARM to charge me for their false advertising. At least note the website, signage, and OpenTable if you are following modified menus or processes, and train your team better!! We were thrilled to try FARM, and left saying that we would NEVER go back. So disappointed :( read more

Farm Bloomington is highly overrated. The fact that they are advertising and accepting reservations for graduation is astonishing. Don't waste your money. The service was poor. I did not get a smile from a single hostess or waitress. While the decor is a vibe, the seating is uncomfortable and close. Our son was constantly having to move his chair just so the waiters could get by. Our family enjoyed the garlic fries appetizer. I ordered the breakfast poutine and it was a soggy mess. I concur with other reviews that the menu lacks diversity. Perhaps their evening menu is more appealing. Overall, we were very disappointed. read more

I've been to farm a few times and I think there are some highlights that do deserve 5 stars: 1. Their garlic fries - hands down some of the best fries I have EVER had. They're incredibly unique and their appetizer portion is HUGE and great for a group of people. 2. Their drinks - also unique, and really good. If you're looking for a good cocktail this is a great option. 3. Vibes - the space is cute, the vibes are fun - great for a dinner with friends or a date night. (Or a girlie brunch!) I give 4 stars because sometimes their menu feels boring - not much changes and it's a pretty small menu. I have to be in a very specific mood if I'm going here, and there's usually only 2 things I'll order. Id love more seasonal menus or just more options. Their service can also be hit or miss. I've been and had wonderful service, and I've been and felt like they forgot I existed. No one wants to be waiting around to order a drink, or to get the check. Overall - I'd definitely go. Make a reservation because they do get busy. read more

Lovely evening at Farm on a Friday night. We were able to sit outside and really take in Bloomington before a play at the IU Auditorium. Our server was exceptional and made the night. He was previously on the radio and our companions could definitely tell when he was speaking with us and had to ask, and yep they were right. He was polite, attentive and knew the menu which was extremely helpful since this was our first time. The inside of the restaurant is cute and eclectic. Restrooms were clean which is always a plus in my book. Food: we all had drinks, I had the dirty dancing which was sweet but good (I am generally a bourbon girl). We had to get the chili garlic bowl of fries and they did not disappoint with the tumeric aoili! We ate the entire bowl between the four of us. Dinner included the Margarita pizza for myself and the rest of the table had the Fennel Salmon, BLT and the lasagna. No one was disappointed. The food was great. PROS: Cute inside and outside (love the outdoor area) Farm to Table (the waiter laid out where items were from that day) Pizza was a great size and the crust was excellent Lots of drinks and bottles of bourbon CONS: Parking- we parked in the paid lot across the street which was easy, but not free as there is no dedicated parking Overall, a win! My entree was super good! I got the catfish fry and my girlfriend had the salmon which she really liked and I enjoyed too. The most popular thing on the menu was the garlic fries which we got, but I wasn't blown away by. They were solid but I tasted more lemon than anything, not that they were bad but they didnt live up to the hype for me. The ambience is rustic like an old farm house which is cool, and it's pretty intimate as far as seating. The service was a 7-8/10 for me, I have no complaints. read more

We dined inside, but there is also a sizable patio in which you can dine and bring your pup (which I am also a big fan of). I had a macchiato that was delicious and a Greek parfait that was absolutely scrumptious. My son had a bacon breakfast pizza. Everyone's food was fresh and beautiful. The wait for the food was very acceptable. There also was very low noise level and the decor is adorable. Went for a nice brunch for a birthday as we were passing through town. We were 30 minutes late for our reservation due to traffic, but they didn't give us a hard time which was very kind. The best thing we had were the fries! The bowl they brought out could have fed 6 people! There were only 2 of us and we barely made a dent. We also got "the world's greatest BLT" (a little high handed of them to call it that, I've had better) and a burger. We also split a bloody mary. We went to Farm a long time ago, and didn't have much motivation to return. It still has weaknesses, but we decided it's improved. Farm Bloomington is not as pretentious as it once was. There are nom-nom dishes the restaurant prides themselves in that we don't usually eat, like HUGE bowls of loaded french fries. Others, however, love these. The pizzas are also looking good; alas there is much pizza competition in Bloomington because it's a college town. The atmosphere is loud-bistro. The chairs and furniture aren't all that comfy. Service, however, was pretty good. Now let's get to the food. We tried their crispy brussels sprouts, which we decided were pretty good. Light, not greasy, caramelized, with both blue cheese and a quartered lemon for squeezing. Moderately yummy. My dining partner had the eggplant entree. It wasn't bad, but somehow wasn't what she was expecting. It seemed to satisfy nonetheless. My own selection was a tofu tikka masala. It's served with rice and a chutney. The upsides were a well flavored masala and it was nicely spicy. The downside were undercooked potato segments, and dry and unremarkable basmati rice. The tofu was also oddly uncooked, but not unpleasant. A glass of their house dry red wine was judged to be stellar. We get the feeling that if we had tried one of the meat/fish dishes, the experience might've been different. There are also decent desserts but we're low-carbers, and not heavy drinkers and closer to vegetarian, so we're probably not part of their regular crowd. It was enjoyable. Except for the underdone potato bits in the otherwise decent tikka masala, overall it was good. Mainstream diners will be unlikely disappointed. read more

We were so fortunate to find this place right in the middle of the action in Bloomington. Kirkwood St. is mostly blocked off to Cars, and many restaurants including this one set up outdoor dining. The outdoor area is charming and shaded, the service was impeccable, and the food was incredible. I got the Hoosier Poutine and my husband had the Babe Ruth steak and eggs. First of all, our server was great. And the service itself was actually fast for a change. But after more than 15 years as a Bloomington resident, I have yet to have a meal at Farm that was worth what I paid. Astronomical prices for such small portions and flat dishes. I paid $29 for what was probably a 6oz chicken breast that was way overcooked, the rice and frozen peas had some funky bitter aftertaste. My lady barely touched her $30 shrimp fish; she said it was unappetizing and even left the leftovers. The cheesecake was a tiny piece, and the AC was barely working. It was a sauna in there. At least the garlic fries were ok. I think I am finished with Farm. I'm sure it won't miss my business since it is painfully obvious that plenty of people are willing to pay the prices despite its lack of quality. Absolutely loved a date night here in Bloomington. Went to see the campus and wanted to grab a more elevated bite to eat that wouldn't feel too much like "college" food. Upscale yet approachable decor, relaxed but elevated inside. Staff was great. We came without a reservation after a basketball game, and were (kindly) given the option of a short wait or immediate seating at the bar. We chose the bar and the bartender was extremely kind and attentive to us. Ordered the hummus platter, seasonal winter salad and a Lugar bison burger. Everything was delicious. Impressed with the amount of salad and the quality of the steak I added in. Dressing was great and everything was fresh. Burger was also fantastic as well as the potato salad it comes with. Waitress was super nice. I had the soup and the Brussels sprout as an appetizer. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts, really good. Inside looked clean. The soup was tasty as well. You'll have to be careful on what time you come to this restaurant though. We visited FARMbloomjngton in June. It was our first-ever visit and we brought along two family members. We stopped in between lunch and dinner so the place was pretty empty. The hostess seemed unenthusiastic to be there. We were seated at a table near a front window and waited and waited and waited for our server. We waited so long that I said, let's give it another 5 min then we're outta here. Our server arrived with waters, and at that point we were ready to order drinks, and our meals. Our waiter was very nice and made up for the fact that we waited an eternity for him to come over. Like I said, maybe there were 6 other tables of guests while we were there. I don't know what the hold up was. My sandwich was pretty good. An 'LT' instead of a BLT. They didn't have a lot of options for vegetarians. Overall, I wouldn't come back here again. The eggs Benedict were undercooked (the white parts, clear inside). There was a hair in my coffee. The staff were sweet but very unbothered. So many other restaurants with qualify food I'd pick over this. It's certainly one of the more overrated spots in town. I would consider this to be fairly standard New American sort of food. I can see where the 3*s are coming from, particularly with flavor/seasoning, but I think the cooking technique (particularly that everything was the right texture) takes it a notch higher than that. "Famous" fries: nice and crispy, although they're not as browned as I'd like. Good seasoning, and surprisingly spicy from the chili oil and such. Linguini: very heavy on tomato in a way that drowns out some other flavors, but the linguini was appropriately al dente and the (many) shrimp were cooked to perfection. read more

Service was solid, but I can't recommend the meal considering the other options within walking distance. No problems with the waitstaff. We had a nice dude who was attentive and kind to our table. The food? Well, the others in our group ordered steaks and none honestly came out the way they'd ordered. I got the Bianca pizza -- pesto, wild mushrooms, ricotta -- and had such high hopes. It came out uncut. Uncut! Not a fan of spending $20+ on a pizza and having to do some of the work myself. I'm glad they provided a pizza cutter wheel, but they certainly overestimated the gesture's charm. The portion was plenty and could've easily been split, but I stopped halfway simply because it just wasn't good. The saving graces, however, were whoever was working the bar and making the desserts. The old fashion I'd ordered was great. I'd also ordered an obscure cider and enjoyed it as well. Those two drinks almost made up for the pizza. Dessert was a nice end to the meal. That mango sorbet patched a good deal of the damage made by that sub-par pizza. If anything, I'd come back for the bar, go to either Da Vinci for pizza or Siam House for Thai, and then come back for dessert. read more

While spending a night in Bloomington my better half recommended Farm Bloomington as one of her favorite spots for cocktails and dinner. Within walking distance of our hotel we enjoyed a crisp evening stroll to the Square and Farm. We were greeted right away and chose a spot at the bar for some sustenance and refreshment. Let me say right at the start: THIS is an impressive bar - the selection of liquor has to be one of the most extensive I have seen to-date. The wine menu is strong and impressive. Several long lists of bourbon, whiskey, scotch, tequila, etc. You will NOT be disappointed in this selection. To start, I selected the Black Sabbath ( I'm a bit of a sucker for cooly-named drinks, what can I say? ). This is a nice blend of Whistlepig Piggyback, Carpano Antica Vermouth, Amaro Di Angostura, Orange Bitters, with a cherry garnish. Very tasty, indeed. The lady chose a nice Vietti Barbera D'Asti from Piedmont. Our bartender, Sam, was great. Our drinks arrived quickly. We then decided on some pizza, the Big Red for me, made up of tomatoes, garlic, fresh mozzarella, spinach & arugula pesto, and parmesan. In addition we selected the Indiana Puttanesca, consisting of sausage, chicken, roasted vegetables, olives, parmesan, fresh basil, capers, House red sauce, and goat cheese. Admittedly this was a lot of food for the both of us but we thoroughly enjoyed them, and had plenty left over to take back with us. To finish off the night I chose a wonderful scotch, Laphroaig Lore, for which I'd been searching for a while. It did not disappoint. Farm has great atmosphere and a really fun decor. Make sure to wander around a bit before you leave. As my lady would say: "very Bloomington". Loved it. Again, Sam was great. We all wound up watching a very quirky "Godzilla vs ( take your pick )" movie over the bar. Great commentary on the special effects and story which, at the time, was pretty impressive to me as a kid but is now just hilarious and fun. So, to wrap up this novel of a review, make sure to stop in to Farm Bloomington downtown. You'll enjoy great ambiance, an amazing selection of cocktails and liquor and good food. Everything was cooked well like many others have said and presentation was good, but the seasonings/flavors were bordering on bland. It reminded me of a more northern cuisine where flavors are not as punchy. It was good, just fairly neutral on flavors but done in an elegant way as others have mentioned. read more

We used to really enjoy FARM back when our daughter was a student at IU few years ago. It was upscale, local, unique and delicious. We were really looking forward to having a nice lunch there after walking through farmers market and art on the square yesterday. There were 4 adults and two kids, a 5 year old and an infant. Appetizer of our choice was calamari and garlic fries, and we enjoyed those very much. For main course we ordered different variety of courses, planing to share. Chicken and beef meatball soup was interesting and flavorful. Steak and eggs was a different story. The meat was gamey and unpleasant, almost as if it was old venison.Two of us tried it, and it was not edible. Pizza that we ordered was on a dry store bought crust that looked and tasted like cardboard. The worst part was the service. At no time were we checked on or offered a refill on our drinks. The waiter was annoyed when we mentioned that the meat was below our expectations. He said that he wouldn't be able to take it off our bill because a piece of it was gone. It actually was on other plates because we shared, and we did order several entrees, so it was not as if we were trying to walk out without paying a rather large bill. The concept of "customer is always right" was not known to our waiter. The restaurant was not that busy (no private parties), and there was a repair man in the bathroom that's had a changing table. We tried to figure out where to change the baby, but neither the manager nor the repair man would try to accommodate us by offering to move over for few minutes to let us access the bathroom, or to use an office. We were very disappointed with our experience this time. What a pity! We loved our memories of this place in the past, but won't be back in the future. read more

Definitely recommend Farm ! The interior is decorated in a very whimsical meets rustic way. My favorite thing were the lights above the bar. The bar - by the way - is superiorly stocked ! We were amazed by the number of bourbons on the drink menu. We started off with drinks - I asked for a sweet wine and my partner got a cider. Both drinks were exactly to our liking. The bartender said it was the only sweet wine he had and he delivered ! The cider my partner got was pretty good. Less alcoholic than the stella artois he gets usually - which means less fumey. It also wasn't tart like other ciders can be. For our food - we both really enjoyed the fries. We swapped out the side that comes with our burgers and I'm glad we did. The regular fries were crisp and very flavorful ! They may even be my new favorite fry in Bloomington. I got a bison burger, and it was delicious. Cooked to perfection, medium well. The meat was super soft and nearly melted in my mouth. It had a garlicy after taste that was quiet wonderful. My partner got the beef burger and said it was quite dry. He wasn't a fan of the bacon jam on it and said it tasted like baked beans. I really liked the bacon jam and I didn't get that from it at all. read more
