The waiter was clueless, coffee was cold and place was justifiably barren . The display case used to have all sorts of amazing pastries , but now it's random shrink wrapped garbage . We stopped by Feast for Sunday brunch on our way back home from Bloomington. There were so many delicious-sounding items on the menu that it was hard to decide. I went with the breakfast tamales with manchego scramble because it was very unique -- something I certainly wouldn't find anywhere else (and because I love manchego!). It was very good (and very filling). My only tiny issue is that I wish it had come with more of the green salsa because once the little salsa drizzle was gone, the rest of the tamales were a tad bit dry. Service was pretty much perfect. Our server was very friendly, and very patient & accommodating to the woman at the table next to me who ordered the smoked salmon bagel (clearly described as cured salmon on the menu) and then sent it back because it was "raw." I think I would've had a hard time keeping a straight face! I loved the outdoor patio area with pillows on the benches. They have an impressive wine list; I would love to come back and try them out for dinner sometime. read more

What a cool wine bar/cafe with an uptown vibe in a not-so-uptown area. But this is no secret. The place was packed (good thing we had a reservation). Although it is not hard to pack this place because it is tiny (only about 10 tables indoors and another 8 or so outside). There's a small parking lot that I'm sure gets full when this place and the restaurant next door are busy. The food menu is nice and small because everything is seasonal here. The wine menu, on the other hand, is extensive (the walls are where most of the bottles are stored). Service was stellar and our food was delicious. I went with the chefs special of the night which was a Burger with Onion Rings, and this may have been the best burger I've had in years. Sadly, it is no longer the Feast of old. As you walk up, the outdoor seating and privacy screens are in disrepair. One must be careful not to snag clothing when sitting on any of the bench seats. The staff is welcoming, kind and knowledgeable about the menu. The wait person we had was new. We overheard management saying "she should have known better" when they found out she had a mishap with our bottle of champagne. Even though the wait staff had handled everything to our satisfaction. There were very limited vegetarian options. I ordered a flatbread without meat. It was badly burnt. I didn't want to be wasteful and was hungry and therefore didn't want to wait for a 2nd one to be made. It will take quite a few people telling me it has returned to the Feast we knew and loved or has become something different and is good in its own right. Until then, I'll not be back. read more

Delicious cozy brunch! We had a fabulous brunch at Feast. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy. It was huge and full of flavor. We also had carnitas egg hash, and a breakfast tamale. Everyone loved their food and felt like the portions were really good! I'll definitely be back to try more brunch items and dinner. As for drinks, we had the sake Bloody Mary, a chai tea latte, a matcha vanilla latte (absolutely divine), and apple cider mimosas. Feast has lots of parking! Feast is a cute little spot near Switchyard Park. The wine bottles on the wall and plants throughout make for a relaxing dining experience. Our waitress was nice, but our food seemed like it took longer than expected to come out. I ordered the Toffee Latte and would not get it again. There was a layer of oil(?) on top of the drink and it just tasted like a regular milk latte. It was unappealing to look at and I didn't finish it. To eat, I ordered their BLTA and it was very good - would get again. The bacon was delicious and they added plenty to the sandwich! The potato salad was okay, very soft potatoes but not a whole lot of flavor. Loved the atmosphere and the coffee was excellent! On our tour of Bloomington restaurants we decided we wanted charcuterie, so stopped in to check this place out. The cheese plate was beautiful, and the cheese & bread was delicious, but I would have preferred honey or fig jam and more olives to all of the pickled veggies. They were good - it was just a lot of them. The pomegranate mimosa was fine and well priced. The latte was delicious! Overpriced for average food. I've been there 3 times with my son it was phenomenal. But this last time we went for his graduation and something is wrong none off the food was to the same quality even the steak. It's about $80 a person for 4 average courses. And the Check came and it's the most confusing check in the world they have random things added and subtracted for the managers charge. We had a delicious dinner here. The patio, while small, is airy and quiet. One thing that would help a lot with ambiance is installing a small gate or wall for the dumpsters. Several tables have a full view of two ugly dumpsters. The service was great. While we waited for a table, the host walked us through bottles of wine and helped us make a great selection. The food was delicious. The bread on my Cuban sandwich was perfectly buttery and toasty, while the meats were juicy. I loved the house made mustard and pickles, too. I asked when ordering if something came with the sandwich, because they don't list any sides on the menu. I was told she thought it may come with a bit of greens or something, but that the sandwich was a pretty hefty size. She was right about the sandwich - it was large enough for me to eat half and take the other half to go. But it was just the sandwich. It would have been nice to have even a tiny side salad or few chips. It was a bit monotonous with just the sandwich. Their dessert selection is huge and beautiful. It also sells out quick. We had a late 7:30 dinner on a Friday night. We were eyeballing the key lime pie and key lime cheesecake, but they were already sold out when we were ready for them. Lesson learned, order the dessert when you order your meal if you're afraid it will sell out. I had the maple bar. When I first went to Feast in summer 2023, I was really impressed with the great food, the fantastic wine selection, and the inviting atmosphere. I had not been back for over a year, since the big turnover in staff in December 2024. The menu is not nearly as inviting, tasty, imaginative, or healthy as it was in 2023; it now seems quite similar to other restaurants in Bloomington. The furnishing has changed in a way that makes the place feel a bit diner-esque, rather than the charming wooden farmstead feel it had before. I wouldn't say the place is bad at all--it certainly is still a good restaurant, both food-wise and ambience-wise--but it is perhaps not as special as it had been. Another wonderful meal at Feast this weekend. This is such a great little spot. For those that live on the South side of town, having this option is wonderful. The space is small and comfortable, with limited indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend an Open Table reservation- we were able to get one day of for brunch this Saturday (but the students aren't back yet). You also have the option to stop by for an item out of the bakery case, a bottle of wine, frozen tamales, and the coffee bar. All fantastic - I recommend the salty dog from the bakery case For brunch, the crepe boards and breakfast charcuterie board are crowd pleasers and absolutely delish. My regular coffee drink is the Cubano and the only complaint is it doesn't come in a larger size. This weekend, the carrot waffle was a special breakfast feature and a savory brunch dream. Creamy carrot curry and perfectly roasted carrots had the best flavor. We got the order of sausage on the side, which for non-vegetarians was a good balance for the dish. Other favorites include The Frenchman appetizer, Peoria salad, tamales for any meal, the duck, and gnocchi. I haven't tried the lamb flatbread, but saw it yesterday and it looks amazing. So disappointing! This used to be one of my favorite restaurants for special meals when I dropped off my son at IU. Apparently they changed owners over a year ago. My son got the wagyu burger which he said was barely edible due to excessive salt. I asked for the French onion soup as a starter but the waitress forgot. Many items on the very slim dinner menu were unavailable even though it was only 7:30pm. Even though we had reservations, it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff with our visit, like showing up at an acquaintance's home and asking them to cook you dinner. Service is usually terrific, friendly and fast. The presentation of the food is beautiful. And the flavors, WOW. You never need salt or pepper, everything is seasoned just right. Their coffee drinks are always fresh and delicious. Had brunch on Saturday afternoon at Feast. I had the chicken fried steak and egg with a cheddar scallion biscuit and black pepper gravy. Amazing. My partner had the Shakshouka which was equally incredible. My iced mocha was the best I have had in a long time. We treated ourselves to the Bakery Board for "dessert" which is croissant and coffee cake and brioche toast and small blueberry muffins. It's served with four different spreads. Amazing. Loved the place last time we went a few years back. Latest visit left us unhappy. Service was great. The place remains a cozy, well appointed place. You feel instantly warm when you walk in. The rest is unpleasant. Food was mediocre. Soup was unseasoned and desperate for salt. The shrimp pasta calls for fermented chile. But it was spicy to the point of pain. We eat spicy at Thai levels so we know heat. This was not right. To their credit they took it and added cream to soften it and it ended being edible. The flatbread was the highlight and lowlight. It was a great dish. However, found out after we left that they charged us $22 for it when the menu clearly says $16. Called them. They confirmed they charged us wrong and promised to look into it and call us back. They never called. We're not local so they get to keep the $6. Went to check out rumors. Feast is truly no more. We were the only customers in a sad setting (so glad I made a reservation for our anniversary dinner!). Wine is currently only available by the glass and the cab was not good. Had to ask for cutlery, table was sticky, salt and pepper were cheap shakers with pre-ground pepper. Pepita salad was good, but that is all that remains of a beloved menu. Menu also didn't match anything posted online, was printed on office paper, didn't offer enticing choices. Salads sat up for delivery for almost 10 minutes while the sweet but inexperienced waitress ignored them. Ordered the $55 ribeye, over half of it fat. So sad to report that Feast is gone. I doubt this iteration will make it. read more

This is not the Feast I remember. When we arrived, they told us there was an issue with their liquor license and they could not sell us any alcohol. We should've just left then, but we decided to stay because we remember the food being wonderful. It's nowhere near where it used to be; the charcuterie board did not taste fresh and my raviolis were swimming in a cream sauce with black olives?! Everything tasted just a bit off. My husband and I both got iced teas and they charged us $7 EACH. Holy cow. The server was very nice, but we will not be back on account of the poor food quality. Took an hour to get our food even though we were the first people in there and when we finally got it, all of it was cold, our eggs were horribly overcooked and there was mold on the toast. They took one thing off the bill but they should have taken both things. When we complained that the food was also cold and inedible the manager said "Do you want me to warm it up?" The Cellar Salmon plate is my favorite entree I've tried so far. The crispy salmon skin expertly pairs with the sesame Chile glaze with fat from the whipped Nettle cheese and crispiness of the marinated cool cucumber with micro greens and just a touch of heat from a Chile in the sesame glaze. I've had the charcuterie, soup, smoke & berries salad, lamb flatbread, tamale plate and mushroom étouffée on the current menu. I can't wait until the fall menu comes out! My friend and I went to Feast for my birthday dinner on a Friday early evening. We made a 5:30 pm reservation after much difficulty, and were never told of a time limit on our reservation. Once seated, the service was mediocre -- many staff standing around not knowing what to do, unfamiliar with menu. It took around 20 mins for our waitress to take our drink, apps, and dinner order. Although many social oddities during our service interaction, my friend and I managed to have a wonderful dinner. The food and beverages were excellent, and is the reason I frequent this restaurant and chose this for my birthday dinner. However, at the conclusion of our dinner service and before our waitress asked if we would like dessert "the manager or hostess - not sure what her role was" went to the table next to us and said "you need to leave in 15 mins as there is another reservation coming". We were shocked by her rude demeanor and request, as much as they were. In the meantime we had ordered dessert and were discussing which wine we wanted to purchase to take home when " the manager" came to our table and told us the same thing. We were enveloped by many emotions as we were just on the last few bites of our dessert and still had a full glass of wine and half of our wine bottle remaining. We were both in shock and asked what we should do with our food, wine and dessert. This absolutely ruined our evening and dining experience!! She replied "I don't know, they are coming". It only got better as she continued to stare at us from behind the register, while we felt pressured to chug our $60 bottle of wine, finish our dessert, all the while being mortified!!! What an amazing birthday dinner to sadly end by being shamed and bullied. So sad! And, it gets better! She mustered all of her professionalism and training in the service industry and escorted the following party to our table and shamed us in front of them. I had a lovely lunch with my friend today at Feast ! At about 11:30am, the place was pretty empty. We seated ourselves at a booth and was immediately given menus and waters. Everything on the menu sounded so yummy, it was hard to pick what each of us wanted. I saw tzatziki and instantly knew nothing else would do. We put our orders on and it wasn't 10 minutes before we were served. The presentation for both of our meals was beautiful ! Everything looked super fresh and the portion sizes were great. The flavor combinations on my plate were good. I would have said amazing, but I don't think the caramelized onions added the sweetness the dish needed. The bites without onion were phenomenal. The lamb was very tender and flavorful. The arugula added the crunch needed. And the sauce was to die for ! It was enjoyed by simply diving in with a fork or picking the naan pieces up like a little taco. Definitely recommend Feast ! The atmosphere was quiet and home-like.
