Lennie's is such a great spot in Bloomington. Tons of seating--both inside and outside when the weather cooperates--so it never feels cramped. We had the flatbread and the house salad, and both were excellent. They've got a surprisingly nice wine selection and some solid Bloomington-brewed IPAs. The vibe is a modern diner with a big, varied menu: pasta, soup, salads, pizza, plus a really good lineup of appetizers. The staff is super friendly and really hustles. read more

Right on Kirkwood. Clean, friendly and prompt service. We picked this restaurant wanting healthier food options passing through town. Diners seemed more affluent and menu prices on higher side. Our kids unfortunately didn't like the grilled cheese probably because it wasn't highly processed or buttered which is a good thing nor the mandarin oranges it came with. Kids were likely overstimulated from our travels. I did try their foods and could see why they didn't take to it at first. Didn't taste bad by any means. Husband liked his sandwich the Lennie Original that has roast beef, bacon, lettuce, mayo, marinated red onions, tomato, and mozzarella on house bread. I opted for the soup of the day, the Hungarian Mushroom soup, never having something like that before. It was a smidge heavy on the salt for me but again I'm sensitive to salt having cutting it down in my diet. It was a very flavorful soup with dill and other seasonings. The salad didn't really do much for me except help me feel like I was getting fiber into my diet. Overall the vibe and service would bring me back to try more. I enjoyed the roasted veggies app and liked that you could make your own pizzas with alot of topping options but execution was just ok. Queso was a miss. We had the coziest little table tucked in a corner of the porch outside, flower boxes around us and sturdy outdoor furniture. Enough room so everyone could move freely, including our excellent server. Her name on the receipt said ?Audrey. Long blonde ponytail and expert eyeliner. She was very helpful in making our dinner selection, telling me about a flatbread special while I pondered what pizza I wanted. I was able to choose four toppings, so my pizza was heavenly. Dinner companion had a Cobb salad which had some generous slices of perfectly ripe avocado. Serving was generous and he declared it excellent. We were in and out in about an hour and 15 minutes, which was perfect for our Bloomington stopover. We will be back for sure. read more

Wish we had the opportunity to do a proper review on food, but the service was so bad we left. Put in our drink order and waited 15 minutes and nothing. Waitress came by and we asked for the status on our drinks. She asked us to remind her what we had so clearly she had forgotten to even put the order in. I visited Lennie's for lunch and enjoyed a lunch special slice + soup, a glass of kombucha, and slice of cheesecake. The veggie slice of the day was a veggie supreme slice, which had seitan-based pepperoni and sausage with veggies. I'm not entirely sure if it was dairy cheese or vegan. The soup of the day was sweet potato curry. The current kombucha on tap from Crossroads Kombucha was blueberry sage. The daily cheesecake was NY style with strawberry sauce. All of the food was really good! They were really busy during the lunch rush, but I was able to be seated right away. Food took a little longer than I expected considering it should have just been premade pizza and soup, but in the end I was in and out within the hour which was just fine for a sit-down meal. My waiter seemed so busy but despite that managed to be attentive and very friendly. I'd definitely come for the lunch special again and I'll also be sure to come by at the end of day sometime to indulge in the draft beer selection. read more

Are you looking for some good authentic food? This is your spot. Stopped here on the advice of a coworker and he did not stare me wrong. Great atmosphere inside and on the patio. Super friendly staff. I personally love that. Dogs are welcome on the patio as I got to see a few furry friends. I got the Lenny's special sandwich, which was fantastic and recommended. My server also recommended the fries and she did not miss guy there. Not overcooked but nice and crispy. Have a great beer selection. There's a few other things on the menu. I've been asked what was wrong that I didn't give five stars instead of four. I'm loath to give five stars, reserving that for experiences in which I didn't think anything could have improved it. In my most recent experience, I could have wished that my Prosecco had been served in a flute rather than a white wine glass, and that the garnish accompanying my quesadillas had been something more interesting and delicious than mere shredded iceberg lettuce. Little things such as that would elevate the experience for me. But in spite of these small matters, it was a fine experience that I look forward to having many more times in the future. read more

I was a bit disappointed with this visit. I'm a big fan of Lennie's and recommended it for a work team outing to celebrate a staff member's last day. Unfortunately, our reservation was lost, and the manager insisted we hadn't made one even after we showed confirmation. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, the food took quite a while to come out, and the appetizers were served at the same time as our meals. That said, the food itself was very good and our server, Carson, was excellent! He worked with the hostess to help resolve the reservation issue and was very apologetic and personable throughout the experience. read more

Food was delicious and worth the wait ! I had the chicken n spinach tortellini - it's a guest favorite ! I see why!!! I'd gladly come here again, as I thought the upstairs table, the menu, and wait staff were all solid (albeit a bit slow in order taking and delivery from the kitchen). It was a nice casual "campus" atmosphere. I had a nice Stromboli, but there was so much else to be tempted. I also appreciated the nice craft beer selection (Ruby Bloom for me). Our server was very friendly and very attentive. Also very patient while we figured out what we wanted to try. My grandson had one of their huge sandwiches and he normally finishes everything that he gets but he couldn't finish that sandwich. It was just too big. Hubby and I decided to try Lennie's for the first time the other night and were surprisingly pleased with our food. We ordered the Big Fancy pizza and it was SOOO AMAZING!!! The service was great, and speedy once we ordered. The restaurant is on Kirkwood, which leaves a little difficulty for parking when the students are in town, but the food was worth the parking stress. read more

Lennie's is a staple in Bloomington. I've been going here since they were on 10th street. The menu is much smaller than it used to be. Love the outdoor seating area now. Park in the nearby lot across from Hartzell's ice cream. Service was great, speedy and attentive. Brought me a water refill without even asking. Food was good. I would add protein to the beet salad which felt a little light on the beets for it to be named after the ingredient (might have just been the plating). My friend got the Lennie's original roast beef sandwich and enjoyed it plus he was glad he went with the cucumber slaw. Overall, a nice menu and solid option near IU campus. This was my second time dining at Lennie's. I live in another state, and dined there last night while visiting family (my last time at Lennie's was about 3 years ago). It was super easy to reserve a table for 3 on Open Table at the time we wanted. Loved the warm, friendly and casual atmosphere, the terrific food and drink, and excellent service. I had 2 seasonal beers: the Cherry Tart (which was good, not a sour, had mild tartness) and the Krampus Russian Imperial Stout (AMAZING, great flavor! But very strong, so don't plan to drink several in one night). I and another in my party had the entree special: Baked Mac & Cheese with Shrimp & Andouille Sausage. It was TO DIE FOR GOOD. The third member of my party had the Turkey Tortilla Salad from the regular menu, and said it was excellent. Our server Audrey was just great: friendly, fun, informative and did just the right amount of checking on us without being intrusive. A really terrific dinner from every angle.
