CA Nails - I mean I guess ‍ - Nail Salons Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

I went in wanting an overlay on my real nails and the person doing my nails told me the dip was better. After him talking me out of what I wanted, he proceeded to dip my nails. I wanted french tip, and as he was doing them, the tips were all uneven, which I pointed out. He assured me that once he files them, they will even out. Mind you my nails are super short, as to why I wanted the overlay, so I can begin growing my real nails. He filed them soooo short to where my skin is now visible under the nail and hurt, in attempt to even out the french tip. I did tell the owner and he told me they would fix them. I went the next day, and instead of taking off the dip, they went over everything, and now my nails are short, thick and just plain ugly. I am beyond upset with their work, and they are never consistant. I guess my fault for thinking they would have changed since the last time I went. Overall I do not reccomend this salon at all. Please wait the extra time at another salon that actually take pride in their work. If I could rate less I would! read more

I had a pedicure here yesterday and quite frankly it was not good. It was a busy Sunday, walk ins only. They sat me in a spa chair with stained towels and I proceeded to wait about 40 minutes. Not with my feet relaxing in a warm bath, but instead trying to avoid the dirty linens. Other than to ask me if the polish I had set to the side was the one I wanted and asking if I wanted a manicure too, the technician never spoke to me. She chattered loudly, sometimes quite loudly, with her fellow technicians. For the most part the patrons were an afterthought. The pedicure itself was OK, but not remotely relaxing. The "massage" left me wincing and I got several pinches and pokes. They also tossed their dirty tools into dirty boxes. It didn't seem like there was a remote bit of sanitizing anywhere. Terrible experience. The woman who did my nails was kind and she did a great job. But the owner was absolutely awful. It took nearly 40 min to start my service which was a mani/pedi. It took an hour and 15 min to start on my mani. I told him (the manager or owner) this and he chewed me out in front of the salon. It was humiliating and so unprofessional. I would have told him what I really felt but I didn't want to make as much of a scene as he did. Don't come here if you want to get efficient and professional service. read more

This place, especially the workstations, is dirty. The furniture is dirty. Some of the technicians seem sweet. The owner is nice enough, but loud. They holler and laugh and it feels raucous instead of relaxing. My tech was rough with my hands and fingers. And had to be told that I had old polish on! And they had no colors that were subtle. New to the area, went to get my nails done before going away for New Years weekend. Paid $45 plus tax and tip for the dip powder. The technician was very nice and attentive. However my nails started chipping within 24 hours. So obviously I am not near the salon to have them repaired. Anyone who has ever had the dip powder knows that it normally 2-3 weeks and is actually tough to remove. Not sure what they used but definitely will not be returning to this location. read more

A big ol' fail. I went to nail time a few weeks before and got a killer gel manicure. Then, I gave this place a shot because they are cheaper. Brought a picture of the nails I wanted (super easy, one color with dense glitter on the bottom that gets lighter as it moves up). Could not get anyone to actually tell me whether or not the could do it. I'm not a nail connoisseur, so I kept asking, "please, just make them look like the picture." Language barriers are usually a breeze, but the ladies were crowding over me talking and laughing. I kept asking, "hey guys, what's up? Ya talkin' bout my nails? Is something funny about my nails? What's going on?" Awkward smiles. That's what I got out of those questions. And some pretty shitty twelve-year-old looking nails. Even my boyfriend said they were rough. I recently moved here from Florida & I'm very particular about who does my hands & feet. Well after 3 months of searching & bad experiences, I finally found this wonderful nail shop. Everyone is very nice & the shop is immaculately clean!! I don't do acrylic nails so when I saw they offered a healthy manicure, I jumped right on it. My daughter just called me crying after being cut and started bleeding during her service. She wanted a relaxing day with her limited budget and left stressed out. Also, the manicure is horrible aesthetically. The woman working on her nails made her pay for the service before she performed the manicure. I called to complain, and the manager did apologize, but offered nothing in return for the horrible service. My daughter had great service previously, possibly with the manager, and she would have continuted to frequent this location. We will not be going back in the future. read more

If you are looking for a cheap pedicure then this is the place to go. I paid only $27 for a French Pedi, which is really cheap. The service was pretty good. There were 3 of us going together on a Friday and they seemed pretty busy, but we got right in and all had chairs next to each other. All of the nail techs were friendly and did a decent job on our pedis. I would have preferred to have more scrubbing on my feet to help get ready for flip flop season, but it was still fine. It's been just over a week now and my toes are starting to chip, but I didn't really expect much more than that. They did have water temperature problems, which was annoying. First my water was so hot I couldn't stand it, so they just turned on cold water until my water was pretty much just cold. When my nail tech came over, he realized the water was cold so he let some out and added warm, but by that time I had already soaked for 15-20 minutes. My friend's 4 year old daughter went with us to the salon that day and she also wanted her toes painted. When we mentioned that she also wanted her toes painted the nail tech told us that her 12 year old daughter would do it for free so she could get some practice. We were completely fine with her painting T's toenails, but then the she started clipping her toenails with the big toenail clippers. We asked her to stop several times and that if she wanted to file them that would be fine, but we did not want her to be clipping the toenails with clippers. She ignored our request and continued to clip, until my friend was very blunt with her and said "No, no, no, no...I only want you to file and paint them. DO NOT clip anymore." If I am back in the Santa Fe area, I highly doubt I would return to CA Nails; but, if I lived there and was looking for a cheap, quick pedi then I would give them another go around. read more

My wife went in there to get her nails done and the owner said he would do her nails for her as she has had him in the past, this time once her toe nails were done he sent her to another women and she asked why he was not doing her nails as he had said and he said he was too busy and that she would have to make an appointment. It was about this time she was getting pissed off. When she said she did not want another tech to do her nails he insisted she wait outside even though her toe nails were not dry and did not even offer her the throw away flip flops while she had to wait outside. This man is lucky her husband was not there at the time this happened or the outcome may of been quite a bit different. She went to a different salon "Elegant nails" and had to have her toe nails re-done (she had already paid for the first set) and then get her nails done and got a nice job. She was upset and called the owner and asked why he would say he would do her nails and then say he was too busy and he simply said "Shut up and Stop Whining" she will never go there again and I would not recommend this owner or salon to anyone. Beware this is a business that simply does not care about the clients only the $$ Avoid them at all costs, there are a lot of great nail salons in Santa Fe that do a great job. read more

I went in for a pedicure, and it was busy, but they put me in a chair with water. I sat in the chair for 45 minutes, and no one came over. My water became cold. I got up and left because I had other things to do, and no one even noticed. I've been to a lot of busy nail salons in lots of places and have never experienced this level of poor service. I went back and explained what had happened and the guy who sits next to the door was very rude and refused to repair my nail, he instead told me the longevity of my nails depends on the jobs I do. I am on vacation, My girlfriend and I wanted to "feel better" So we go to get our Hair Trimmed/Cut. We walked in, and had to wait about an hour, 7 people ahead of us. We go, grab some lunch... By the time we got back everyone was cleared out Angel was my Stylist, My girlfriend Mindy, had Debbie. Both girls had Beautiful Hair ( of course)... they work at the salon.... Just wanted Angel G. to know how wonderful, she was. For us to walk in, 1st time here, She was Professional and Informative. I was EXTREMLY Impressed with her!!! Oh and My Hair Cut... Looks Great. Before you knew it, an hour had gone by and I still hadn't been seen. One of the older ladies finally helped me, to say it was a HORRIBLE job is an understatement. The woman didn't even finish removing the previous nail polish I had, when I asked her to fix it, she got irritated and threw the buffer at me. After waiting nearly 3 hours to be seen I finally got in the chair and the guy (Don) goes outside to smoke a cigarette, comes back in without washing his hands and starts on my nails. I came in to get a dip refill, I was then told they can't do dip refills (which I've had done several times at my regular salon). I was told my nails needed to be soaked in order to get a dip full set. After letting them soak, I decided to just leave. Such a waste of time. Never again will I come here. The pedicure technician was extremely sloppy, she cut my toenails so short they hurt for several days after. She also cut them in a way that will cause ingrown toenails on both ends of big toes. I have lived in Santa Fe my whole life and this is the only place I will go to get my nails done. Every time I have been there for a full set they take their time to make sure my nails are just right. The manager is so nice and friendly. Once when I was getting my nails done one of the workers offered to get me a starbucks and everything. And it feels like you are just going to meet up with your friends and get pampered. A lot of other places I felt like the workers would talk about me while I was sitting right there and these people don't. You feel comfortable, welcome, and just like part of the family. read more

I have had numerous SNS manicures and this was by far the worst. I waited a long time, part of it with my hands stuck in cold acetone. There was no lotion or hand massage of any kind, just the nails done. That would've be acceptable, but the color started to peel off in less than a week. I have never had that happen, but it is just flaking off in pieces, resulting in partially dull and partially shiny nails. Very poor. read more

I would first like to say that if I could give negative stars I definitely would. I was recommended to this place by another Salon that had recently needed to fire their nail staff. At first I thought the place was decent and clean, however, the owner or manager is unaccommodating and unprofessional. After my nails were done and I had paid, I learned the young guy doing my toes and nails had just gotten out of school. That information should have been disclosed at the beginning. He was constantly asking the guy next to him what was the next step, and he pushed the cuticles down so hard on my nails that he gave me a wonderfully deep cut (this was after my toes). I don't care if I bleed, but it took four people to get me a bandaid. One of the ladies finally got the bleeding to stop. After I had left and really saw the horrible job done, I called back to see if there was a way to either get a refund, or be given any type of coupon for the future. The manager said no, it's too late, and only offered for me to come in the next day to get it re-done. My nails are so short there's nothing else that can be done. It's the job of the management to disclose information such as a newly working manicurist. My complaint is solely based on the manager. He never once told me the guy was new. After he saw how unhappy I was he didn't offer at all to comp even my manicure, and didn't want anything to do with helping mend the horrible experience. My mother and I both thought the place was clean, and respectable, and my mother had a good experience; however because of the experience I had, neither one of us will go back. read more
