What was once a worthwhile club appears to be in clear decline. From my direct experience, the…read morewarning signs are hard to ignore: management turnover, frustrated employees, and ownership that no longer seems willing to invest in the club's future. Prospective buyers should look closely before committing. The fleet is now made up of aging boats, roughly 4-6 years old, and the wear is evident. Inventory has reportedly been reduced from 9 boats to 5, including only 2 surf boats, while pricing remains unchanged. At the same time, members are being asked to move to an "unlimited bookings" model that still limits usage to no more than 3 bookings per month!!! Last season alone, boats experienced issues ranging from failed ballast pumps and broken amps to damaged railings and inconsistent availability. Yet despite reduced inventory, aging equipment, and declining service levels, ownership appears intent on maintaining the same pricing without meaningful reinvestment. Anyone considering joining should do their homework, verify the facts independently, and speak with former members. Membership has reportedly fallen from 42 to 17 and continues to trend downward. That kind of decline does not happen without reason.

Instructions were provided concisely in an easy to understand format for new drivers. We rented a Chaparral for 4 hours on Labor Day and it couldn't have gone smoother. The boat was in excellent condition and everyone had a great time. Gas came out to about $57, keeping in mind we had 5 adults, lots of food, and towed a tube during our rental period. Definitely recommend Berryessa Water Sports and will see them again soon!

What started as a fun day out on Lake Tahoe quickly turned into one of the most stressful and…read moredangerous experiences I've ever had. I rented a jet ski from this company expecting a smooth ride and basic safety precautions--but what I got was anything but that. About halfway through our time on the water, the jet ski completely broke down. No power, no response--just floating dead in the middle of the lake. There were no emergency instructions, no radio or whistle, and no number to call that worked reliably. We were stranded, drifting, with boats passing by far in the distance. We spent nearly 30mins frantically waving, shouting, and trying to signal for help, hoping someone would notice us before things got worse. The feeling of being completely vulnerable out in open water--without any support from the rental company--was terrifying. Eventually, another boater noticed us and towed us to shore. The rental company didn't send anyone. They didn't even answer the phone. To make matters worse, when we finally got back and reported the breakdown, the response was indifferent at best. No apology, no refund, and no acknowledgment of how serious the situation could have been. This wasn't just an inconvenience--it was a major safety issue. Gear failure happens, but lack of support, safety measures, or even basic accountability is unacceptable. If you value your safety and peace of mind, look elsewhere for your rental. Don't trust your life with Steven!

We were given 1 jet ski that was not fully functional. The display panel did not work at all and we did run out of gas and got stranded. We did notify the owner right away about this, and he advised he was aware and simply forgot to tell us. Um, ok thanks... We were charged over $600 of our security deposit due to a few scratches, what I would consider to be normal wear and tear of something used for a week, on a lake, in the elements. There were many existing scratches, so clearly he's not actually doing any of the repairs he's charging for. Getting in and out of the rental/storage facility is extremely extremely difficult. You should be a very experienced tower in order to be successful.

I'd say Jason is a normal person and easy to talk to but he is completely unorganized and unprofessional as a business person and I have no clue how he stays in business. Good luck reaching him on his business line as he almost never answers it and the voice mail was always full when I called it. The few times he did call me it was always from other numbers, a couple times my caller ID for the number showed a woman's name but luckily I still picked up to hear his latest excuses. In my first experience I could never reach anyone when I'd call the business line during business hours. But his shop is really close to my house so I just drove over one day and there he was. I needed the family boat looked at, he told me to come back in a week and drop my boat off first thing in the morning on a Wednesday. I showed up right at the appointment time he set, 9am when they open but Jason was nowhere in sight. I tried to call him but he was obviously not there yet. Sent a text to the woman's phone but he never responded. So I waited... he ended up showing up somewhere between and hour and hour and a half after start if business. Bad sign but I know shit happens. He seemed really excited to get me "Back on the water" as it was still prime summertime in the middle of July. I left my boat and he inspected it that day. I think his assessment was likely correct. He charged me around $300 for the inspection but told me he would hook me up on the actual repair. Parts needed to be ordered. I agreed. He acted super weird about ordering parts telling me that I better show up for service and not leave him with these parts. I offered a deposit and he passed saying that I seemed like a trustworthy person. At this point I would receive almost no communication or updates from Jason. I had to basically drive to his shop once a week and hope to catch him. It took around a month for him to get parts. Occasionally he couldn't remember who I was and had to go through his hand written notes to find my information, no computer. Once parts were in he told me he couldn't do the job by himself and was waiting for his one staff member to start coming back to work. Lots of excuses. He did finally text me one time in late September and said his guy should be coming back soon and he could do the job in a couple weeks. I asked for a set date and he responded probably in November. On October 31st I asked him for an update but he never followed up. On November 1st I asked again, no response. Keep in mind he had my contact information regardless of whose phone he was using. I got sick of showing up to his shop randomly just to hear excuses. So for about 6 months he got nothing done. When he first inspected my boat he took apart several parts and left them on the floor of my boat. I asked if he forgot to put them back and he said don't worry I'll have it all fixed soon. Parts are still not where they belong. At the end of the day Jason is a poor businessman and does not communicate with his customers. He left me high and dry and now I'm forced to go somewhere else and pay all over again for an inspection fee and still have not had any work completed. Bums like this do not deserve your business. I advise to avoid. Being charged an inspection fee and pushing off repair for half a year is basically stealing from customers. Time is valuable and this man wasted mine without cause or concern.

His answer was you're not turning it correctly. A huge 4-seater Jet ski shouldn't flip over while only driving 5 miles per hour. Who knows what he did to it. He also mentioned if anyone tries to sue him, Ultimate Motor Sports has full time lawyers that are his family members. Who knows how many people he's done this to. Last year he had so many bad reviews (including mine) that he somehow got removed. That's why all you see is the same 8 good reviews. Must be the lawyer thing he refers to. Jason and Ultimate Water Sports will definitely put you and your loved ones in danger by working on your water sports. Beware and be safe!

My sister, nephew and I wanted to do Middle Fork this year and I remember it being an adrenaline rush and challenging but so fun- We picked a Tuesday so it was not crowded, but when it ended up being just the three of us in the raft with Juli, I was a little nervous, remembering how intimidating tunnel chute was- and I didn't have the security of a full raft of people to weigh down the raft and help paddle to build up speed. This just goes to show you how important a seasoned veteran rafting guide is Juli was amazing. He gave clear instructions, he was very calm, and he managed the raft like a pro. No no flipping over and no one fell out. So exciting! Now I want to go to Costa Rica and look up Whitewater excitement there and request Juli. Hope to do this at least one more time this year. If I lived closer, I would go more often. Ps- I read some people complaining that you have to pitch in to carry the raft from the water up to the trucks and from the trucks down to the water, I've only been with one company that did not ask you to do that. All the rest have always had the rafters help out in pitch-in.
