First time here and didn't disappoint. I ordered the Rio Grande burger medium rare and it was perfect. My friend ordered a patty melt medium and it was perfect as well. Fries were crunchy and fresh. I don't know what has happened to their food. Ordered pizza, the Carnival which is 5 toppings. There was literally no meat on it. The waitress said she would either discount the pizza or make a new one. We opted for the discount as we were very hungry and didn't want to wait longer. They took off a whole $2.50 which wasn't reasonable, even talked to the manager which didn't improve anything. They used to be a great restaurant! I think that this place has a problem ordering food and length of time it takes to receive the food. A simple order of chicken legs takes over 25 minutes. This place has the POS system but I'm afraid the cook has other ideas on how receives the orders and then serves them up. In the business 10 years I have found that the small food order can be inserted between the large or complicated orders to speed things up. Wings, throw them in, take them out, dust them up and serve. Should that take 20+ minutes. I realize what the problem is here now and that is a reliable plater to helper to prep the cooks items. Being going for years. Something has changed. Food was cold. Croutons in salid we soggy like the salid was pre-made with croutons and left in fregutator so they were soggyand chewy. We've been coming to Cables for 2.5 decades. A great neighborhood pub. But last night - the minestrone soup was poor. Very little flavor. Almost as if the pot was low and extended with water. Loved the food as the homemade spaghetti noodles are amazing. The pizza is pretty awesome too. My issue is with the all you can eat spaghetti. Our server never once mentioned that the meat was extra so we ordered our spaghetti and meat and then another round of spaghetti but when we got the bill our 6.99 spaghetti went to $15. I am willing to pay but you should notify the customer instead of doing it sneaky like that. To me that is kinda dishonest. Food gets five stars deceptive business practices get no stars. read more

Well, we have been coming to this restaurant or many years and like to indulge in their special drinks, margaritas, Martinis, occasional beers and wine. We have noticed that the beer prices basically stay the same and mainly the Coors bracket while the mixed, martinis and wine were costing more and more as months go by. This would normally not be discussed but in some cases the martinis have climbed from $10.50 to as much as $15,40 in a matter of two years while beer prices still remain the same at $ 3.00 for some beers. We know why some of the special drinks and Margaritas have been increasing in cost and now bring that to your attention. We have seen mixing of other ingredients from the bar into these specially priced drinks, such as Margaritas, and others, but are not charged or the additional spirits. Introducing additional spirits into that same discounted drink is costing the restaurant by not charging the customer. This type of mixing will increase the cost to the restaurant for any drink that utilizes this added spirit. That spirit will disappear, and doing so will drive the cost of not only Martinis but the spirit being used and not charged for in Margaritas and other drinks. Martinis and other popular drinks should not be regulated to keep beer prices checked. Customers that are paying three and four times the rate of beer, while the beer drinker sits and drinks two beers @ $3.00, total $ 6.00, while the Special drink and Martini's will spend $ 12.50 to $ 15.40 and two will be as much as $ 30 dollars or more. These increases are driving the Loyal customers away. Special drinks make up one third to one half times of the beer drinkers going to Cables. We know the prices of several spirits are in check and not increasing while the bar prices receive another dollar or more increase. Change, freeze or lose customers, another unwarranted increase will lose several customers. ` read more

Cables is open for dine-in after (amid?) Covid chaos. We visited for Father's day, and while it was early in openings, there was a lot of room for social distancing. Their to-go business was booming though which is great to see at local businesses. They are following recommended protocol with masks, distanced tables, gloves etc. We did not have to wait, so I am unsure on that policy. The hostess was wiping down menus when we arrived. They were operating with the main doors as an entrance and the patio doors used for exit to keep flow through the restaurant. read more

I haven't been in a few years because the service was bad, but a friend told me he liked Cables, so I intended to go back and try again. I went in today to buy a gift card for the friend and they charged me a 2% credit card surcharge which I don't love (but is probably their right) AND they charged me TAX on the gift card. The employee agreed the charge for tax was wrong and tried to correct it but eventually told me the only way she could "correct" it would be to reduce the gift card by the amount of tax (so not correcting it). I politely but firmly voiced my displeasure by explaining that this would keep me from returning and that it was very frustrating that they would not correct the mistake they made. The employee told me that I was being rude for making that statement. If honest feedback gets criticized as "rude", I guess I can see why Cables hasn't actually improved any since I was there five years ago. read more

Stopped in for the first time, the menu looked very appealing on line. Appealing, not good. I ordered the cheese burger and fries. It was dry and the bun was not fresh. For 13.99 I could have gone to McDonalds for half the price and been happy with the burger! My guest ordered the spaghetti and sausage. The noodles were flavorless and the "sausage did not taste like sausage" Very disappointed will not be back. The waitress seemed to care less when I nicely commented on the quality of the spaghetti. Made me sad. I grew up going to the old location, and made a special trip to Greeley. I stayed in a hotel and got carry out. Waited a while at the hostess station, then sent to the bar to get my food. There were no seats available. I am flexible, as I understand many restaurants have staffing issues, but- on the order, I requested utensils, didn't get any. Did not get any bread with my spaghetti. My stuffed sopapilla (really a calzone,) did not include green chili. Disappointed. read more

Unless you're lucky enough to get Trevor, I would leave. It's nearly impossible to get refills, the food is okay (I would give it a 5/10 depending on the day), and it always takes at least 15 minutes to pay out. I think everyone understands how difficult it is to keep a full staff right now, but at least train the staff you do have to take care of guests. There is no reason that two drink refills should take 10 minutes when there are four tables in the restaurant, unless your server goes MIA like ours did. read more

First, the appetizer spinach artichoke dip, was absolute garbage. It was oily and lacked garlic. I ordered the stuffed mexican soapapia and needless to say, it too was garbage. But, luckily I ordered a side of mac & cheese and combined the meat in the mac & cheese therefore, making my own meal between the two which was tolerable. As for the steak we ordered it medium well and it came back well done. The second time it came back it was medium well with a crisp outside . I will not be returning here. Appalling food. Firecracker shrimp should just be renamed mayonnaise shrimp. Pastas are heavy and flavorless. Service was terrible and even the beer is served warm. The manager delivered it and gave all kinds of excuses on why it wasn't prepared with our meal. We came to cables to celebrate my mother in laws birthday and got kicked out because Thomas Ervin over-served one person in our party. I had one drink and and one shot in 3 hours and was told that my second shot was my last drink. I would've been ok if the bartender did not blame me for intoxicating someone else. This person was in our general group and did make a scene, however I did not continuously serve someone who could not stand on their own. I would never recommend a place that intoxicates people then blames it on someone else. Awful. read more

The service was slow, our waitress took forever to come back and see if we had wanted anything else. The place was not very busy, so I don't know what the problem would have been. I checked my bank account a few days later and found I had been charged twice for my bill! I was not happy that a $45.00 dinner had came to a $90.00 dinner!! My experience felt like a Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmare episode. This is a good looking place, I could envision a lunch or dinner and drinks with friends on the patio. Upon further inspection, our booth could use some attention and my menu was dirty and stained. My colleague and I both ordered the NY strip, dinner salad and I got the fettuccini alfredo. Standard dinner salad, very respectable poppy seed vinaigrette. My steak was overdone and grey and my buddy's was tougher than most elk steaks. I'm not a food expert but in my past experiences, grey meat indicates old or poorly handled beef. To their credit, the server was very nice and my meal was comped. They offered to make me something else to dine in or to go but time constraints didn't allow. The saddest part was the beer that I couldn't call cold, at least not to my expectation. Everyone has a "bad day" and I want to give this place a second chance. Probably won't reorder the $27.00 disappointment again. read more

Tomatoes were not fresh and the meatballs used to be better. When I got home I had to air out my clothes because the restaurant smelled like burnt food. I used to kind of like this establishment and have given it and its staff numerous opportunities to shine due to geographical location, and the simple fact that I enjoy the company of some of the staff and its patrons from time to time. However, I seriously doubt this place will ever receive my business again. The staff: Mostly friendly and nice, but some of the bartenders are rude, unattractive and inattentive. I've spent quite a bit of my money in this establishment, (mostly because I was with other people) only to have the barstaff, and the patrons disrespect me. The patrons: I can't even walk away to take a leak without having some hag steal my bar stool while I'm gone, despite the fact that it's quite obvious that I'm returning. This is more of a matter of principle and courtesy than anything else and ties into the disrespecful nature of the patrons and staff alike for accepting this sort of behavior. The bar during afternoon hours is normally filled with miserable middle-aged to late-aged women and even more miserable old douchebag men. During the later hours, the bar serves younger, drunken apes whom lurk arond and feel the need to bother me and my lady friends as we enjoy cocktails. This must explain why I hardly ever see attractive women here during these hours. The food: I've had the pizza, and it was actually pretty good. I've had great experiences here, but the bad experiences are much more memorable than the great ones. With that being said, I'll find somewhere to spend my money. read more
