Dropped into The Crown Pub on a Friday night after a concert nearby and ended up staying longer than planned. It was busy but still felt comfortable, not chaotic. We grabbed a table pretty quickly and the server checked in often enough without hovering. I ordered a burger and a couple drinks while my friend got fish and chips. Food came out hot and the timing between drinks and meals was handled well. One thing I noticed was how calm the staff stayed even when the place filled up. Nobody seemed irritated or rushed. They need to figure it out. Used to go there frequently and it was great. Went in the Fall and it was horrible. We ordered drinks and dinner. Drinks came right away. Food came in stages for the table. So much so, some never got their food after waiting over an hour and another friend wound up taking her burger to go because those who got food were done by the time her burger showed up. Went again last night, chalking the previous experience up to a large party and "off" night for the Crown. Nope. Got a table, which took 15 minutes to clean from the previous party, ordered drinks, app and dinner. Drinks and app came within 10-15 minutes. Yay! We thought! Wrong!! We waited an hour and 20 minutes (after checking with the server several times) and still no food. We wound up getting up to pay for what we had, but even the server was like "you don't owe a thing." Literally, even she couldn't sugar coat the lousy experience. Wasn't her fault at all, and we felt bad she was dealing with the kitchen. Because of them, she lost a shit ton of money from our large tab (had it arrived) and the inability to flip the table for another party within a reasonable time. Pretty typical pub fare but we enjoyed the food! We ordered a turkey reuben, a regular reuben, mussels, and the pommes frites (thin fries). Both sandwiches were good, but be warned: the spicy mustard is VERY heavy on the horseradish and has a kick. The mussels are on the appetizer menu but were large enough to eat as an entree. The broth was very flavorful and had a good amount of garlic and lemon. We also loved the fries. They were thin but perfectly crispy and didn't get soggy even after sitting for a while. Been here several times over the years. We enjoy the pub atmosphere. It's cozy and and great place to have a beer or cocktail . Perfect Guinness and feels just right to sip on an old fashion with house made cherries . We had the shrimp Picatta and the steak over mashed potatoes. Both were very good. The steak was cooked just as we asked and was very filling. There are several good choices on the menu. Sandwiches, salads, steak, chicken, fries, and a great appetizer selection. We walked past this place a few times and thought how cool is that front door. But it wasn't until we asked our server at another restaurant where she liked to eat. She said that this was the place. So we had to try it. The pub steak is where it's at. It doesn't look amazing in the pic but it's because of all of the amazing sauce on it. It was melt in your mouth. The combination of the Gorgonzola cheese and the balsamic reduction was perfect. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The fries were delicious too. We got the appetizer so we would have more fries and get to try the sauces. Delicious. The cinnamon sugar crème brûlée was amazing. Everytime we come up to Ft Collins, we just have to stop in to the Crown Pub. They have the nicest people working there ever, a super chill ambiance and great food/drinks. We always order the pomme frites (french fries), and it comes with choices of dipping sauces for them (and ketchup if you prefer). We usually get the Garlic Aoli and Basil sauces. And then devour the whole humongous plate. I've also had the calamari here, and it is very good. After living in Fort Collins for five and a half years, I finally got around to trying the Crown Pub. Better late than never! It's in a great location right in Old Town and the servers are all very friendly. Overall, I'd say the Crown Pub is a nice enough place to grab some drinks and good (but not great) food. We ordered the mussels as a starter. For my main, I got the half order of the fish and chips. My husband got the steak frittes dish. We ended our meal with some bread pudding for dessert. Everything we ordered was just fine. I'm glad I finally crossed Crown Pub off my FC dining list, however, I can't say I'll be rushing back. read more

Another bonus is that this bar in college actually has clean and well maintained bathrooms which are typically destroyed by college kids. Writing this review because if I were the owner of this restaurant I would want to know what a negative experience a long-time customer had. Suffice to say I am very sad to have to change my review for this place! This has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Fort Collins, so we were excited to book a table for 14 for a rehearsal dinner for our family member. I knew this wasn't normal for them because they don't do reservations so I was open to renting out the back room, or showing up early to get on the wait list. I was also willing to just pay a lot of money to reserve the tables. I figured that since we have been coming here for years and years and wanting to spend this special family event at this restaurant someone would want to help make this happen (and we are super flexible about how it would work out or what time we could have eaten). First problem: I called 3 different times to explain the situation and someone "promised me" a manager would call back. I waited a week after each time and no one ever called me back. The fourth time I called I managed to get ahold of the manager. Then comes the even-more-unfortunate part of this experience. The "General Manager" was disrespectful, rude, mocking, and ended up hanging up on me. He reiterated that they "don't do that" to reserve tables. I suggested that I could come in at 5pm and be first on the list, or that we could pay them for the cost of reserving the table, etc. He had absolutely NO desire to work with me and from the beginning was nothing short of unprofessional. Also, when he thought he hung up on me he didn't actually hang up, so I was still on the line listening to him as he replayed his version of our conversation (not truthful) to whoever the woman was who was working with him. I listened as he made fun of me, lied about what I was asking about and how I responded, and made himself out to be some kind of macho-rule-enforcing-savior to a woman making "ridiculous" requests. I eventually hung up disheartened about humanity in general and really disappointed in this establishment and whomever the owner has made the GM. The food is good, usually the service is good, but this was a truly terrible experience and now our whole family will likely never come back. What a disappointment. read more

A little slice of adventure in Old Town! The decor is exactly what you'd expect for a British pub and the atmosphere varies from casual and calm to very lively depending on the seating area. There were some quiet groups scattered around and some rowdy groups watching sports. The dark wood, vintage beer signs, and framed historical people really add to the experience of stepping off College Ave. and into the UK. The bar is long and accomodates quite a few people, but the liquor wall behind the barman has all the vibes. It's got a glass background and ornate wooden details and holds all the liquor! The food was delicious and the drinks were well done. I ordered the meatballs appetizer and a side of fries. The meatballs were wonderfully seasoned and a healthy, tasty balance of lamb and beef. The fries were perfectly crispy and offered with a variety of tasty sauces - I always go for the basil aioli and garlic aioli. The hubbs ordered the classic fish'n'chips and was not disappointed. Lightly breaded and perfectly crisped with some tartar sauce and lemon - my mouth is watering as I reminisce on the bite I stole. It was a great experience for both of us, very private even sitting amongst others. For being an English pub, I'm surprised to say this is one of the better steaks I've had in town. It's conveniently located right near campus in the heart of downtown Fort Collins. It has a seat yourself concept but I can see how hectic that can get on a busy night. We came for a late lunch so it was pretty calm. During the summer both the front and back patios are open for seating. Or head downstairs for a live jazz band on Sundays. They have an extensive beer and liquor list with $3.50 Guinness on draft which is hard to beat. We came in for lunch and had the pub steak topped with gorgonzola cheese which is everything I didn't know I needed and more. Make sure you order their pomme frites on the side, they are super thin but crunchy in texture and perfect for soaking up the gorgonzola with. Great location. Friendly-ish staff. Its the classic British Pub in Fort Collins. They've got the pints, they've got the Fish and Chips and they've got an excellent steak. The fries are brilliant - ask for the Basil Aioli, Curry and the Truffle Aioli. Well worth it. The steak was quite amazing. The sauce was quite extravagant. They have outdoor seating up front and a patio in the rear, which was quieter. My friend was vegetarian, and they made him a vegetarian version of the Turkey BLT, which was really nice of them and something that he loved. Mother's Day was our latest venture at Crown Pub and regardless of when we come or what is going on, we always have a solid experience here. The food is very good, especially when they do seasonal menus, and you can't go wrong with Guinness on tap. This go-round, I ordered the tofu bahn mi with a side salad and my husband ordered the lobster roll with skinny fries (an oxymoron at best!). I love, love that Crown Pub always has a well thought out vegetarian dish. I often order vegetarian not because I am one, but working with vegetables and making them taste great is far harder than a slab of beef in my humble opinion. The bahn mi had a great smoky flavor with the tofu, tanginess with the kim chi and overall fresh bright notes. The hubs liked his lobster roll but commented that there was a tad too much Old Bay seasoning that slightly masked his beloved lobster. I tried a bite and thought it was super tasty. And of course the fries. I prefer the pub chips but the skinny fries are just as good. Crown Pub is always a go to place for us when we are in downtown Fort Collins. read more
