I'm actually not a huge fish taco lover; it's just not a menu item I typically order. However, I lost track of how many times I looked at my husband during our meal and said "this is SO good!", lol. The fish/shrimp was fried to perfection- not too greasy, just the right amount of crispy, and held up inside the taco well. The tacos aren't itty bitty either- they are stuffed full! Husband and I ordered the queso as an appetizer and it was bomb. We each got a different side item with our tacos so we could try each other's: I got the avocado pasta salad and he got the Modelo refried beans. Both were excellent! Go early this place gets busy! Service was fast and great. Food was amazing. The crab dip was an unexpected item on a Mexican restaurants menu but man they have perfected it! The fried pita bread was warm and fluffy, perfect for dipping out the war and gooey dip. Hubby got the jalapeño cheddar mashed potato's and those were great, I had fried plantains which were just ok, maybe a tad over done. The tacos were perfect as well. So honestly I was not very wowed by my experience at Cabo fish taco. I was a little disappointed at the sides, they were very dry and the rice wasn't very seasoned. Multiple people in my party had sadly agreed on this. Additionally, the tacos I ordered had Parmesan cheese on them & I was honestly just really turned off by that randomly being in tacos (it was not the description). Tried their Clam Chowder and I have to say it is VERY unique. It has a sort of spice taste, and to me, resembles a splash of hispanic taste. Odd description but it's just so different from a New England Clam Chowder. Didn't love it, but it was interesting and decent. The fish tacos were pretty solid as well. Had to try them as the restaurant is called Cabo FISH taco. Personally, I might have to try their carne asada tacos next time. Some very tasty food, most just OK, but, I'm sorry to say, the most remarkable thing about this place was that it was dirty. Food bits fallen between the slats of our outdoor table, sticky table top to begin with. Indoors behind the half wall where the servers prep, looked like a full basket of chips had been spilled on the floor and just trampled for an hour. The women's restroom was strewn with paper towels on the floor, the bin was full, and the only water temp available for hand washing was just about unbearably hot. I had to wipe the soap off my daughter's hands with paper towels, so she didn't have to rinse as long. That said :) ... The beer battered white fish tacos were absolutely fresh and delicious, especially the battered fish itself. Most of the rest was middling in flavor but also fresh tasting: from the chips and salsa, to the steak quesadilla, to the Baja rice. The only real miss was the avocado pasta salad. A local friend of ours recommended Cabo Fish Taco to us. It sits right on a corner on Main St, you step through the door to a relaxed Catina like atmosphere greeted with a smile. We started out with the crab dip with pita chips which I highly recommend. The dip had the perfect balance of cheese, sweet crab and shrimp. The pita chips are fried I believe because they had a more fluffy texture but melt in your mouth. I ordered the Lemon Grilled Shrimp Tacos, again highly recommend. Two tacos with perfectly seasoned shrimp on top of pickled onions, greens, tomatoes and this magic white sauce :) Parking isn't the best but worth the little bit of hassle! read more

Always a go to restaurant when I have out of town guests! The soy garlic shrimp is my favorite and the banging Baja tacos are super tasty too. The two tacos and side are plenty to fill you up. I recommend the jalapeño cheddar mashers or the guacamole pasta salad for the sides. The rice has been hit or miss for me and a few times I've had it the rice was dried out on top. They also have good options for people who might not be crazy for seafood. Definitely a great place to visit if you're in the area! read more

Living in Blacksburg for the past 3 years I've heard a lot of goods things about Cabo fish taco. When people visit tech whether for football games or family weekend a lot of them people go here. Cabo has this neat deal on Tuesday where you can get $3 tacos for certain tacos. I generally work in the evening on Tuesday's, but I had a Tuesday off, so I made sure I went to try this place. I ordered 4 tacos (2 white fish taco, 1 chicken taco, 1 salmon taco) and a huge margarita (el toro)! At Cabo they also give you free chips and salsa which is nice to munch on as you wait for your food. The el toro was huge, and also very good. The tacos were spectacular! You wouldn't think to go to a fish place in the middle of the mountains, however the fish tacos at Cabo were really good! My favorite was the white fish tacos. Overall, this place is really good, especially if you go on Tuesday for their deal! Next time when my friends and I don't have work on Tuesday we will be sure to stop by. read more

This is by far one of my favorite establishments in the Blacksburg area! Before I went to VT, I loved coming here, then even when I attended Blacksburg, I loved taking my friends and family here. But now as an alumni, I adore coming back here even more! We didn't get my favorite spinach artichoke dip but theirs is the BEST IN TOWN! I always have to get my favorite skinnyrita while my boyfriend got the azulrita which slapped! My go to tacos or any dish here is something with seafood! For this visit, I got the grilled salmon and Thai chili tofu tacos but over rice instead of in a tortilla roll. Their sides here are always the best and be sure to always ask about the seasonal side (which was plantains for this visit). I wish I mixed it up with their seasonal side but saw it late. Trio of salsas gets a big thumbs up, especially the salsa verde. 9 pm arrival after the Hokies loss to BC. 5 of us. Asked bartender Amy to make us a Casa Noble margarita "spicy" and she delivered! Even checked back with us to make sure we liked it! Alexis was our server & she did an outstanding job navigating us through the menu since it was our first time. They have outside seating as well as converted half their parking lot for more seating so there was a lot of space. They're doing social distancing really well! My friend ordered the banging Baja tacos and I got the soy ginger tacos and we each gave the other one so we could have one of each. Simply delicious. Their banging Baja sauce is tangy and zippy and the beer batter on both was light and crispy and not heavy and oily. Their jalapeño mashers were such an unexpectedly good side! The Main Street was closed for an art fair, and there were literally thousands of people in the streets. 7 o'clock on a Saturday and the place was lined up out the door. 30 minutes wait, but first come first served at the bar. Boom wide open. Must have just been good luck. The menu is extensive and a lot of great stuff, but we opted for tacos. The server was awesome and the service was top notch. They were rocking it. We started with chips and 3 salsas, also guacamole. As you can see in the picture the 3 salsas are verde, mango, and habanero. Surpringly the habanero was not the typical heat with no flavor. The verde had the most satisfying taste, and the mango added a delicious sweet punch up. The guacamole came with fresh chopped onion and jalapeño to mix into the guacamole and also some pico de gallo. Really delicious. We both ordered tacos ala carte. I had 3 of the best shrimp tacos I've ever tried. Ginger + Soy, Banging Baja, and Garlic Buffalo. They were all delicious. The Buffalo was quite spicy and I liked it.
