    Lemon Grilled Shrimp Tacos
    John G.

We went here on a Sunday night based on a recommendation from a local. Short answer = it was really good. Prices are reasonable. Service was spot on. The place was clean and quiet for being in a pandemic. My wife got the Lemon Grilled Shrimp Tacos. I got the Carne Asada Tacos. Both were excellent. We couldn't finish and had to take home. The margaritas are excellent. Two entree's, one margarita and two glasses of wine. The bill was around 50. Totally reasonable. We'll be back.

Great (and long) happy hour! For under $30, we each got 2 rounds of margaritas and and appetizer of calamari. The drinks are good and strong and the squid rings were crispy. Chips and salsa also came on the side which helped soak up the amount of margs we drank!

Stale chips, cheese dip was like lumpy paste, the fish on the taco was in greasy nugget form (3 little chunks per taco), the avocado pasta salad had zero signs of avocados, never got a refill of water, and when paying the $42 tab with a $100 bill was asked if I needed change.

From fast service to friendly staff this restaurant is a must try in downtown Roanoke! We ordered the Queso Appetizer first which came with a house made picante side. It was so good! Then for dinner I had the Southwestern Wrap with a side of the jalapeño cheddar mash and my husband ordered the Cajun Fried Oyster Tacos. They also had an extensive margarita menu with a ton of flavors to suit every taste!! Both meals were excellently prepared and served fast! Overall we had a great dining experience and would definitely recommend this establishment.

We loved this place so much, we visited twice on our trip! They have excellent tacos, flowing chips and salsa, and large margaritas. The tortillas were delicious - I think they were fried? Our favorites included the soy ginger shrimp taco, the Buffalo ranch shrimp taco, and the cheddar mashers (potatoes) as a side. They have two small tables outside in front if you're looking for a patio.

Located in the old Metro! Restaurant this place is popular with the locals. The bar is well stocked with maybe twenty or so craft beer taps and a wide selection of mixed specialties. On bar alone I would rank this place 4 stars. The restaurant is extremely noisy when there's a crowd. The bartender had to yell to be heard and me back. Couldn't talk much with my guests. We started with the guacamole dip but it was blah. Perhaps a made from paste but not fresh. I wasn't impressed with the seafood tacos either. I had the buffalo garlic shrimp taco and my guest had the the grilled version. My taco was so soupy the shrimp all poured out so I ate it with a fork. The shrimp didn't taste all to fresh so I gave up after the first taco. Sorry, I really wanted to like this place but three stars is the best I can offer.

Nice big bar with lots of specialty margaritas!!

Nice big bar with lots of specialty margaritas!! I had the Ahi tuna tacos, which were nicely seasoned and the right portion. I got the Mex slaw, which was ok, nothing special. I found the pepitas in it to be a bit annoying. Fried plantains were good, could have been a bit crispier. I had nice service from Shy, enjoyed myself and didn't spend much money, so all good.

Blackened Mahi-Mahi Tacos, Fried Plantains, Baja Shrimp & Crab Dip, Black Beans & Rice, lemon lavender margarita

Absolutely delicious food, friendly service (our server was the sweetest, so down-to-earth and helpful), very reasonable prices, all in an interesting space and casual dining atmosphere. There's a seating section upstairs that you can see from the first floor due to the giant vaulted ceiling! Highly recommend their shrimp and crab dip, mahi mahi tacos, fried plantains, and a lavender lemon marg they had on special!

Love this place! I've never been disappointed by food quality. As a vegetarian, I love that you can alter the menu items - I always replace the meat with the fried tofu in the Mango Mahi tacos. So good. The avocado pasta salad is also delicious. The chips are alright, they'd be better if they were a little thinner. Salsas are fine - I wish they had a less spicy option out of them but the people in my groups who liked spices were satisfied. The sangria is AWESOME. I've had a variety of service quality - once, a hilarious, fun gentleman who was on point, once a very neutral server, another time a server who was a bit frantic and overwhelmed. Cabo really made this place feel open in comparison to the restaurant that was here previously (Metro). I love the new layout, the giant tvs, and the upstairs area.

From rude employees to below par food, this was a disappointing visit. Ordered online- two fried oyster tacos and a fried shrimp taco, black beans and rice for side. Ordered for 12:05pm, showed up at 11:50 prepared to wait. Walked into the restaurant- totally empty- and an employee was standing at the bar, watching tv. No greeting, but when I started walking toward him he pulled up his mask, the cook and the prep guy looked at me and I announced I was there to pick up a couple of orders "Pickup window is outside the front door," I was told. Remember, no patrons in the restaurant. I went out to the sidewalk, and there was no pickup window. As I returned to the restaurant I realized the window was in the alcove before you enter the restaurant. Ok, now we are getting somewhere! I looked through the window to see the cook and prep guy, and called out that I was there to pick up two orders. They kept pointing to my left, and I then saw the switch labeled "ring for service." Now I'm feeling like I'm in a comedy sketch. But I want my tacos! I pressed the button and the prep guy grabbed the only two bags on the counter, opened the window and I told him that I was there to pick up orders 1 &2. "What's the names?" I told him his ordering system didn't ask for names, only gave us order numbers and he repeated himself. Ok, I'll play along- gave him the name and he handed across the two bags which had our names on them. I asked him how he got our names when we hadn't put them into the system and he just closed the window. That's when it occurred they got the names off our credit cards. Hmmm, something to think about. The food was cold and soggy and fell apart when I tried to pick it up. The oysters were deep brown and looked crunchy which told me they were overdone and had been sitting for a while. I was right (grew up in the northeast so I know fried seafood). Not much taste to the oyster tacos. The black beans and rice were cold and very wet. The fried shrimp were cold but they did have a nice taste. Last time I got the fried tofu tacos and I was really pleased. Someone else picked up the food so I was spared all the attitude and the food was good. That's why I gave it a second chance- I'm sitting here with a rumbling and somewhat urgent stomach, wondering if there will be a third tome.

Slow service, good food. I think this place recently opened, so they're still trying to figure things out, but overall, good meal. Chips and salsa are complementary, although not a big fan of the salsa (lacked flavor). For my main I had the blackened tuna over salad. Perfectly cooked and good flavor. My mom had the garlic buffalo shrimp tacos which she liked as well. They gave her a very decent number of shrimp!

I had the Soy Ginger Shrimp Tacos with Fried Plantains. My bf had the Buffalo Shrimp Tacos with the Jalapeno Cheddar Mashers.

The brewery was easy to find and we originally thought it was housed inside an old school building but later learned it was previously a health services building. In addition to AFOG, there are also residential apartments in the remaining adjoining part of the building. There is a large outdoor area where a birthday celebration was happening amongst a small group. We proceeded inside and were immediately greeted by Sam. She helped me identify the IPA options and i immediately chose their Millennial Serum, which is a hazy imperial style that I enjoy. We looked around a bit, snapped some photos and looked at their swag. I'm a big tie dye guy and I was happy to see they had a great selection of AFOG tie dye shirts in my size. We decided to sit at the bar while I enjoyed my beer and chatted about our day. We also enjoyed talking with Sam and learning more about the brewery. We learned they are soon opening their second location in Buchanan, Virginia. Great stop, we felt welcomed, the beer was delicious and I have a new tie dye that will remind me of our time in Roanoke.

And The BiblioPub is the perfect example. Located on Campbell Ave, in Downtown Roanoke's West End District, almost next to the Locker Room Lofts, The BiblioPub calls itself a Bookstore, Coffee Shop, and Beer & Wine Lounge. With a Cafe Menu divided into Sandwiches, Coffee and Tea, and Beer & Wine, it also stocks current pastries and sweets from locally owned bakeries. As soon as I found out of its existence, and reviewed its website, I immediately headed over there to discover what this place was all about. What I found completely amazed me. A large open space with furniture arranged in such a way as to create warm and cozy spaces where people can go to read, eat, drink, view and purchase used and new books, and socialize with one another in a cozy and comfortable environment where they can get together with old friends or meet and make new ones. A welcoming and friendly staff consisting of two ladies were situated behind the bar counter, where they greet and meet with their customers, take their orders, and bring the orders to the tables where they are seated. If the order is for an alcoholic beverage, I saw them checking the person's ID before processing it. They also were chatting with the customers seated at the bar drinking some beers. There are bookcases full of used and new books, reasonably priced, so one could get a sense of the book there and decide if to purchase it and take it home with them. Since I already had dined, I ordered a lemon muffin and a large Iced Café Latte. After paying with a credit card, I went to sit down with my muffin and one of the staff brought me the coffee when it was ready. I believe this is a wonderful concept for a place where one can go, enjoy reading a good book, have a snack or light meal, cool down with an Iced Coffee, beer, or a glass of wine, while socializing with friends in a safe and cozy environment.
