We began as going a couple of times on the weekends. Then decided to ask to get on the seasonal site to keep our camper there for the summer. We were in the next spring! Had our first season here at Caboose and loved every minute of it. Very well-kept campground, clean and a lot to do! July has customer appreciation weekend which brings a DJ, free lunch, shaving cream fun at the beach (picture attached) and shaving cream provided! October is fun too with train ride to trick or treat for the kids around the campground. Prizes all weekend, and best decorated site gets a free weekend! Full hook ups on all sites, buddy sites in case you have friends or family you want to camp with. Walking trail, you can rent golf carts, and much more. The staff is friendly and organized. I want to start by saying my family and I REALLY wanted to enjoy our time at Caboose Lake. We've been looking forward to our little get away for weeks. Unfortunately, I can not say that we ultimately did. My fiancé and I serve as police officers in our county and community so when we booked our $500+ weekend getaway with caboose lake, we really hoped for a relaxing, and stress free getaway. Free from judgement and free from the everyday worries we deal with at home. That's why people choose to camp!! Upon arrival, you have to check in with the main office. Easy enough. Except when you are less than greeted by the wicked awful owner of the property (Chris). Chris single handedly ruined this trip for my family and our friends family. Chris will greet you (hardly) with a horrific scowl and bark orders and rules at you for approx. 20 minutes before sending you on your way. I don't believe she smiled one time. Your presence there WILL bother her and you WILL feel it. Additionally, while I waited in line to ask where we can park to access the water, a gentlemen who worked for a food delivery company was attempting to speak with Chris, the owner, about not having a certain item in stock that she ordered. Chris was so god awful to this man in response. She began telling him how he needs to change his route for her to arrive before 4. He explained he can't do that, he follows a route that is established outside of his control. She didn't care. She scuffed at him and scolded him like a bad dog. It was humiliating even for me. I was so shocked at the way she was speaking to this man, when my turn came up in line, I couldn't focus on the nice lady trying to help me, because I was in awe watching the horror that was Chris interacting with the nice man trying to deliver her ice cream products. The younger lady however, was a saint. Moving forward, The entire ground is covered with cameras. I understand rules and surveillance in order to maintain a nice atmosphere but this campground feels less like camping and more like a basic training camp. The cabin was the best part. It wasn't clean but it was beautiful and located right on the lake. You must get your own towels and toilet paper don't forget!!!! Now for my biggest complaint...... We stayed Friday, Saturday, and left Sunday. Friday and Saturday water wrist bands cost my family of 4 approx. $60. On Sunday after check out, we had to purchase new bands for that day if we wanted to stay and play in the water. Fine. $30 later the four of us were able to go back into the water for the day. Everything was going wonderful until I was in the water with the Three kids and my fiancé and his friend were approached by Chris. Chris advised my fiancé that she's aware "the lady in the red bathing suit" is wearing a thong and she needs to put on a cover up or leave. Mind you, this comes right after a gentleman walked by, holding a lit cigarette and beer, down the beach, and on my third day wearing the same suit. My bathing suit was not a thong. I'll attach a photo of the back. It was completely offensive and humiliating to be told you're dressed inappropriately AT THE LAKE where people are smoking cigarettes and drinking beer while they camp and swim. I was willing to look past I65 traffic all night long right beside the campground, the train tracks where trains use in the early hours of the morning a stone throw from the $500 cabins, the surveillance cameras all around you and the "radar enforced" 5mph speed limit. I was not able to look past being bathing suit shamed at the lake and having my fiancé come to me to relay the message, seeing as how Chris couldn't approach me personally to discuss my NON thong bathing suit I chose to wear while I swam in a lake playing with my kids. I refuse to ever visit Caboose Lake again. Three police officers with their children all under 10 being treated like hoodlums.. It was completely disgraceful. We left 2 hours into our full day paid Sunday swim. Listen to the reviews!!! Go find another campground where you'll find peace, freedom, and not Chris. read more

Great campground. We came in after reserving 1 night online at the last minute. Staff is very nice. Campsite is just right. Shade trees and privacy. Some full timers, but everyone is quiet. Showers 8.9/10. Extra activities for kids at additional cost. Road noise from interstate is at a minimum. read more

PRO: This is a family friendly campground with nice grounds and great water fun for kids. Hosts are very friendly and helpful CON: It is right off the interstate and all you hear all day and night is the traffic traveling on the interstate. Because of this, I would not make this a priority stop. Unfortunately we had to stay 2 nights as that was a requirement for weekend stay. Recommendation: to stay furthest away from the interstate book in section A. read more

Lovely little campground. I would have given 5 stars but the freeway noise level was very high which was even ok until we went to bed. We listened to a lot of Jake brakes. However, the sight was extremely level, all sites are near the water, so beautiful view, 50 amp service, Wi-Fi, great tasting water, great for running & walking & a sewer hookup. Long pull through & we're 62' feet. We'll groomed. We don't have children but if you do there are a lot of fun things for them to play on in the water, which looked very clean. We stopped at this campground on our way north to Wisconsin. The staff were so friendly and helpful, particularly Summer, she went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The site we were in was pull through and plenty long enough for our truck and RV. The frozen lake was just beautiful at sunset. Highly recommend. read more

Just spent 3 days here. Campground is well kept and beautiful. They are always out and about cleaning stuff up. Some of which campers should make sure they are picking up before they leave. They have tons of activities for the kids and even did them when my kids were the only ones here. Staff is friendly. Yes, there is noise from the highway but you can easily block it out. You do pay $10 a day per kid doing the activities but it was worth it. We will For sure be back. read more

What a great place. We just stayed here for the 4th, we got the Caboose cabin, a nice tiny cabin with beds, kitchen and bathroom. The kids loved it. The staff were around and always checking to make sure you had anything you needed. Want to do a bonfire? They have wood, graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate and they bring it to you. The beach is fun, lots for kids to do. My kids loved the bumper boats. The people who live there for the season are all very pleasant and welcoming. Grounds are clean, the lake is open for fishing and swimming. Yes, you are close to the highway, lucky for us the AC in our cabin drowned out the noise. Our fridge wasn't working that great, so they rolled up with a cooler and plenty of ice to use. Any issues were addressed immediately and rectified. If you like a modest well run place to escape for a bit check this place out! read more

This has to be the worst campground I have ever stayed at. Although the website makes it look beautiful, the campground itself is RIGHT next to the interstate. The road noise is so loud you won't get a wink of sleep all night long. We are only staying one night, but I would keep looking. Sites are super small too, no room to put awning out. Worst camping experience I have had! Overpriced for what I got. I was so grateful that I had a 50' water hose as the faucet was on the opposite side of my camper than where it is in every other campground I have been. There was no cable and the brochure said there was one TV channel but I wasn't able to get that to even come in. The roads are gravel and people ride up and down all day and night and it crunches under the wheels of the golf carts that can be rented. Kids in site next to me were up and outside till after 11 along with their mother who swore at them like a sailor. They had two very loud pickups and came and went several times till one in the morning. I guess the most horrible thing about the place is the interstate noise and exit ramp. It was so loud it was deafening. Very, very busy ALL night. Even with foam earplugs and the air conditioner fan on continuously it was still audible. read more

First time here. Staff was friendly, facilities were very clean. Bathroom was immaculate. Prices reasonable. Water hookup was clean water with no odor. They were on top of everything and the site showed it. There is a lot of highway noise, but it is next to a highway. I would defiantly stay here again. read more

Booking this campground online, the pictures and description make it seem very nice. Upon arrival however the campground itself is less than desirable. As I was pulling in the staff was racing and swerving at each other on golf carts loaded with lawn cutting equipment, no shirts on and straight out of a redneck movie. Getting to the site, our site was the only one not mowed and the grass was around 6-8" long. Being the staff was out with lawn equipment you would only assume they would have cut that site knowing it was booked. After pulling in and parking the sewer pipe was nearly a foot off the ground at an angle and make it difficult to empty. The water supply wasn't on the correct side of the site and had to stretch our hose under the RV over to the other side. WiFi was spotty and basically useless for doing anything online. Walked down to the shower and bathrooms, although not horrible, they were run down and old. Lots and lots of permanent sites here with people cruising up and down the roads on golf carts and motorcycles blaring their music, smoking and throwing cigarette butts as they went. Thankfully only there for a night, AND LAST OFF ALL THIS CAMPGROUND IS LITERALLY NEXT TO THE FREEWAY AND OFF RAMP, YOU WILL HEAR EVERY JAKE BRAKE AND SEMI ALL NIGHT LONG. There is literally no quiet here at all. For the nightly cost you would expect a more updated clean park. Skip if you can and find any other place. read more

Went to visit family, had to pay $20 per child and adult to use any water toys, slide, or anything. Paid $5 for 5 pieces of firewood. Was going to join in for morning yoga but that was additional $10, no concession stands per the advertising on flyer, which I'm sure would be very costly. And at 98$ for 2 nights right off hwy 65?!? They nickel and dime you for everything and claim it's an "affordable family fun"...After all we paid, we could of went to six flags and considered that "affordable family fun". Also they don't seem to enforce the leash rule with dogs, as we had a dog come to our site multiple times and poop in the lake right in front of us. The caboose cabins are falling apart, so don't rent those. My kids had fun and we enjoyed visiting with our family but the prices are outrageous compared to other campgrounds we have been to. read more

The facility itself was superb..lots of fun stuff to do (inflatable obstacle course, pond to kayak/fish, furnished cabins, etc.) buuuut the owner; Kris, set a terrible tone for our trip from the time we checked in until the time we finally got the heck out of there. While checking in she was very condescending, rude to her employees, and just generally not very pleasant. I asked one of her employees a question at check in and Kris butted in telling the girl; "you're new here, you don't know anything, why don't you just let me answer". They charge for any day visitor, charged my neighbor a $25 fee for going 7 mph in a 5 mph zone when the sign says it's a $5 charge, bumper boats are piss poor (slow), never staffed, there are cameras all over the park making it feel like you're being watched 24/7, paid 480 for he weekend and had to pay an extra $50 for the kids to swim at the lake which I thought would be included..overall the campground would be an ideal weekend getaway if the owner would just stick to crunching numbers/managing and had no interaction with the guests. read more

My mother-in-law is staying here while she works because it was the closest to her job. She pays about 900 a month and none of the advertised activities are included. It's 10$ a day per person. On top of that one of the guys that works here accused my husband of driving too fast when we hadn't even left at all(he was getting stuff out of our cooler) when my husband said that wasn't me he said well someone just drove through here flying. Then while I had the kids at the beach he came over and asked what campground site I was at and if I was the one of the ones giving him a hard time about moving my van (I don't drive a van) plus he watched us walk up. The place it's self is beautiful but when you get into the water at the designated swimming site it's pretty dirty with muck and old leaves. The road noise doesn't really bother us as we all sleep with fans and AC but it is pretty loud. This place is not worth what we pay! read more

OK, we had a nice lot on the small lake, and facilities were clean, but for $42 a night to pitch a tent, it had better be. It's a stones throw from I65, which never slows down, so if you're easily bothered by noises like that, this isn't the place for you. We didn't take part in any of the lake activities, but it looks like it might be fun. read more

Love this place. We were parked along the lake. Staff was wonderful. This is our 2nd time here. Great place for kids, which we don't have. The only problem is the potholes!! In our RV everything falls over. 5 stars if the potholes are fixed. read more

We had a great time spent 2 nights. The kids & I enjoyed the lake, the water felt great. The owner & staff were very friendly. You've gotta try the Hippo Slide tallest water slide I've ever seen! Water bumper boats were fun, rented a paddle boat. Plenty for all of us to do. WiFi didn't reach to our camp site but worked fine near office... Too much to do to worry about the web. The highway is right next to the campground, I thought that would be annoying, but honestly the noise didn't bother me during the day or for sleeping, actually forgot it was even there. My husband is staying here because his job has him traveling. It's a decent place, but the management is horrible. The lady that runs it is rude, she does not want to fix the big pot-holes and WILL GIVE YOU A SPEEDING TICKET if you go over 5 miles(don't know how she can tell if you're speeding). She charges quadruple the regular price of propane.***NOTE: tractor supply has a better price*** And a lot of campers have said that she over charges for wattage, and when they have brought it to her attention, she simply tell them that "it's her campground, she will charge whatever the hell she wants for electricity". You have been warned, be careful with this place. read more

Awesome place. Been RV'ing for over 25 years and this is by far one of the best private campgrounds around. Highway noise, yes. But what do you expect when next to the highway. You quickly get used to it and it's no problem. You can definitely tell the manager and her dad (who built it himself) truly love what they do! Enforcement of rules - yes and THANK YOU!!! Get so tired of state parks and other campgrounds that don't enforce the rules. Camping etiquette is gone, and it's nice to be at a place we're it is enforced. Thanks you!!!! Will be back!!! So many high speed bumps that we're still jolting. Nice set up by a man-made small lake but they force you to drive all the way down going bump after bump after bump to get back to your site. The cost of $37 was ok, but WiFi cost extra. And it was right by a noisy expressway and the exit road was horribly messed up so you heard loud noises as trucks bumped over the road to the end of the exit. Not much sleep and not very pleasant. Won't stop here again. read more
