Ok so I go inside and ask for a Italian sub, the owner said "I got a nice sandwich, salami, broshutto, supprasada, provolone, you want that?" I said sure. I didn't realize that it was a sandwich he had sitting on display on the counter, probably all day. He wrapped it up and when I got home and unwrapped it, the edges of all the meat was dry and brown, as if it had been sitting on display a long time. I tried to eat the sandwich but it tasted weird. I stopped by for a sandwich and some soup on my lunch break, as I was in the mood for something warm, and it was 47 degrees outside (I'm not originally from Jersey). The staff was very friendly and helpful in assisting me. I decided on a chicken cutlet with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. The order was made rather quickly (I'd wager 5 minutes or less). I also purchased some chili, as well as a cookie and Mac and Cheese for my spouse. I have to say, this is one of the best chicken cutlet sandwiches I've had in some time. The chicken itself was well seasoned, the breading had a nice crunch, and the bread seemed to be a panini-type. The veggies weren't bad, but the star of the show was the chicken cutlet. My only complaint is that they'll be closed the day before Thanksgiving, so I won't be able to try another sandwich tomorrow. The only reason I don't give a perfect score is because that I think there's an even BETTER chicken cutlet sandwich on their menu that I've yet to try. I'll definitely be back in the future. I came in for lunch and was really wowed by the two man team and their creations. I had a difficult time choosing from their pre made on display deliciousness! So the peeps around the Shoffee.com offices have been buzzing about this place since it opened a few weeks ago, but I hadn't had a chance to try it until today. I have to admit, for a very long time, I have been saying that Fairfield, New Jersey needs a really good lunch spot - well Fairfield, you now have one. The item I have heard the most about is Caboose on the Corner's "Philly Style" Rib-eye Cheesesteak, well that wasn't in the cards for me today since I was distracted by the roasted pork sandwich on the daily specials menu. Everything in the place was made fresh to order, and was fantastic! And the people were exceptionally nice as well (even though the guy making the sandwiches looked a lot like Matt Millen - lol). Bottom line: King's Supermarket will no longer be getting my lunchtime business; Caboose on the Corner will be the spot from here on out. When I asked him what happened, he said there is a 50 cent charge for credit cards, and also said the price of the sandwich was $8.45! First off, I want to say that the food was good and I enjoyed it. Second, I want to say I created this account just because of the experience I had here. Here are my issues: The online menu was incorrect and wasn't even close to the correct prices. I was expecting a run-of-the-mill deli pricing, but the prices are actually a bit high compared to other delis. They don't have their prices shown up at the counter, so I went in expecting one thing and was really confused when I saw my bill. They or Yelp should take down that menu to prevent this from reoccurring. I was charged $8.45 for a HALF POUND of tuna salad. I confirmed that the price was correct and that my tub was a half pound. Confused, I figured that I received a whole pound and that the guy just wasn't listening to my question and at that point, I'd take the whole pound. Well, I figured wrong and it turns out they either have the most expensive tuna salad in the world at $16.90/lb or the guy gave me a half pound and charged me for a whole pound (which would mean he actually wasn't listening to my questions regarding the size I received). My fault not double checking the size myself. At least it was decent tuna salad. The guy went straight from slicing steak for a cheesesteak, without gloves, to handling food with only a simple wipe of his rag as a "hand wash". I'm not certain on sanitary laws, but that can't be safe. Hidden 50 cent credit card fee no matter what your total comes to. Would've been nice to know that was going to happen before I paid. Didn't see a sign, nor did I receive a verbal confirmation. First place I've been to that charged that on a bill over $10. Overall, nice people working there, food they were making looked good, my food was good. However, the lack of transparency with costs, the safety issue, and the world's most expensive tuna salad (or overcharged and didn't listen to my questions) makes this a 2-star place. Fix the menu/price issues, and the health problems and I'd toss at least a 4 up there. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting the Owner Jerry as well. Super nice guy and showed great hospitality. I had the Beef Sandwich which was pre made already in the cooler on display. I use to eat here all the time when I lived in Fairfield. It was a long time ago but I still remember loving the food. Bobby is a great guy and was always very friendly and made you feel like you weren't just some customer which is missing from just about everywhere you go. I tried this place on a recommendation and noticed something. I ordered a cheesesteak and noticed they cut the raw steak meat on the same slicer they use to slice the cheese for sandwiches without cleaning it. I asked about it and the guy behind the counter told me he cleans it after every use. I suggest everyone reading this go and see what he calls cleaning his slicing machine. The decor inside is nothing special, a narrow walkway, a large open kitchen, tons of drinks lining the wall, a TV and radio, and sandwiches for display. Prices are not cheap, where each sandwich is well above $7, some reaching up to $10. There is outside parking next to a flower shop. When we came, there were a few people ordering. There was Bobby, to whom the shop in named for, who managed the restaurant by himself. The sandwiches took a little while since he was making all the sandwiches together. Everything seemed fresh! The selection is huge, with 60+ sandwiches, all of which are interesting. They were all packaged up in plastic containers, all served with potato chips. I ordered a chicken panini with parmigiana cheese and sundried tomato spread. The sandwich was perfect, not greasy at all, not dry, very delicious. The tomatoes were perfect. Now I've paid more for sandwiches from Cheesecake Factory maybe, but a deli sandwich should be around $7. They also added salt & pepper to the sandwich, which I did not ask for. The french fries were HUGE steak fries, and kind of hard in the center. The fries were LOADED with salt and pepper as well. They probably have to use so much to hide the bland flavor of the food.
