I pass by The Cutting Board often, as I work in the area, but have never stopped in until today. It looks like a dive from the outside (I say this with the most respect, because some of the best food comes from "dives") but it is a no frills essentially side of the road deli with quite an extensive menu. The staff I encountered were friendly & patient, which is shockingly not the norm these days! I ordered the tuna melt & fries & took a seat at the counter. I was the only one sitting along the counter, but there are also a few tables in the back that had parties at them. My food was ready relatively quickly & was served to me with a smile. The fries were of the steak cut variety, which aren't my favorite, but no fault of the delis - just my personal preference. They were cooked well & served hot - can't ask for much more! The tuna melt was actually a sandwich & not an open faced sandwich, as they tend to be, and I found that to be a pleasant surprise. Open faced tend to get soggy quickly. The tuna was aplenty & it was delicious. The bread was perfectly toasted & buttery as well. I do wish it was served with a pickle spear, though. Not sure if that's the norm & mine was forgotten or if it is not served as such. Either way, I'm obviously grasping at straws. Otherwise, it was a delightful lunch. I go to The Cutting Board for lunch whenever I am working in the area. They have a half sandwich (turkey, ham, roast beef, tuna, or chicken salad) special that comes with a generous serving of pasta salad, potato salad or coleslaw for $9.25 that can't be beat. The meat is stacked high! I always get the pasta salad. It is in a dijon-based sauce (though not too mustardy) and has fresh broccoli and peppers. There wasn't mold but sections of the fries had black heart (edible but tastes really nasty). A typical but well run deli in NJ, I was impressed by the kind staff and the selection. I went with the cranberry turkey on multigrain and a cup of coffee from their fancy machine. Honestly I did not think the coffee would be all that but the french vanilla cappuccino was amazing and sweet. The sandwich was good but I wish the brie was slightly melted as I think that would round out the flavor even more. This place is always so amazing. My coworkers and I order from here at least once a week at work. I have ordered plenty of things off the menu and every single thing has always been outstanding. My favorite item to order is the breaded chicken cutlet over Caesar salad! One thing that is not so great is that their delivery takes very long but worth it so just order ahead! I ordered a Roast Beef and Turkey Sloppy Joe (for those who don't know what a REAL Sloppy Joe is, it ISN'T the ground beef in Manwich sauce we all know and love, it's meat, swiss cheese, cole slaw, and Russian dressing on Rye), and my wife got one of their specials-a sandwich with hot chicken, cheese, hummus and some other veggies. The sandwiches were both great. Mine actually had a little too much cole slaw on it so it was a little soggy, but it was still delicious, My wife allowed me to taste hers and I don't know WHAT kind of spices they put on this sucker, but it was REALLY good. Unfortunately, The Cutting Board isn't close to where I live so it isn't going to become a go-to sandwich place for me, but if you're in the area and looking for a great sammich - give them a shot...you won't be disappointed. I only ever get the gyro bc it ridiculously good almost as good as my favorite place in NY Gyro ll... anyway the chicken gyro is better than beef, both are good but this is the only place I eat chicken gyros. The meat, lettuce, tomato, onions, and the warm pita are all so niccce and fresh. The sauce, extra on the side please so I can drink it, jk LoL... One day ill try something else, just not today. You can see it especially now, as their dining area is rarely ever occupied and it's turned into more of a take out place. Their food is top notch. It may seem a bit on the pricey side at first but their sandwiches last for 2 meals, if not even more. They use quality Boar's Head cuts, and their bread is delicious and fresh as well. Even when my order has been messed up I usually eat it as it comes out delicious. The service needs a rapid change, and fast as it will lead to the downfall of this place. When you call, you are greeted with the most aggressive person taking your order possible. I understand that they're busy, and they only have one person doing it, but good god... change something! At least they have online ordering now, as it lessens the chance of a screwup and the one lady isn't always insanely busy. When your order is messed up, or they forget something too, it is never a quick fix. Expect to wait 20+ minutes for something that needs to be cooked, and 10-15 minutes for something that doesn't. TLDR: Amazing food, awful service which stems from a bad ordering system. This place should get 5 stars, but service takes it down to a 3-4 star. read more

Just had the BEST salad EVER! It's my go to at the Cutting Board. It includes the MOST tender balsamic glazed chicken with large sliced meaty portobello mushrooms, roasted red pepper slices, tomato, carmelized onions, fresh balls of mozzarella cheese and all on top of a fresh mixed green salad. The balsamic dressing(I get mine on the side) is fantastic and you barely, if at all need it. My co-workers raved about their sandwiches as well. Fries... I work at another local business in Fairfield, NJ. We have been ordering food from the Cutting Board for 5+ years now and have never once received a bad order. At times delivery can take a little while because the place is small, but the food is just so darn fresh. The sub roll bread is incredible and that goes a long way in making a 5-star sandwich. Today I tried the Hot Apple & Ham Panini and was blown away by mix of flavors, textures, and spicy hot jalapeno cheese! This is the kind of place you can go to for a common sandwich, and leave very satisfied. Their Italian sub puts other delis and pizzeria's to shame. At the same time you can explore some of their more creative options such as the aforementioned Hot Apple and Ham Panini or the Cranberry Turkey sandwich. Their reputation has grown and at times they can get very busy and seem understaffed. But don't spilt, they are large, but only spilt if not that hungry. The only thing I don't like is that you order the food, eat and then pay. I would recommend the Honey Turkey Gourmet sandwich as their flagship specialty, if it is your first time eating there and you don't have a bland palate. Prices are fair imho. However their delivery service is among the worst I've ever experienced and it's been that way for a long time with no sign of commitment to fixing it; it reliably takes upwards of 90 minutes for delivery even at off-peak hours and within the same town limits. Very disappointing and it has affected the frequency and likelihood of future patronage despite the heavenly features of the menu.
