Lunch panic averted -- and what a find! I didn't bring lunch to work and was deep in the "what am I going to eat?" struggle when The Great Wazu popped up in my search. I'll admit, seeing that it was primarily a sandwich shop made me hesitate since I need gluten-free options. But I was thrilled to see they offer gluten-free bread -- and even more relieved when I spoke to the incredibly kind server who walked me through their celiac protocol. As someone who worries about cross-contamination, that conversation alone put me at ease. I originally planned to grab something quick and rush back to work, but I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the place is. For a strip mall location in Parsippany, there's actually plenty of seating, and the atmosphere feels welcoming and comfortable. Bonus: tons of parking, which is always appreciated. The menu has so many tempting options -- sandwiches, wraps, salads, chips, sweet treats, and beverages. Once I saw they had gluten-free bread, I may have gotten a little carried away and ordered two sandwiches: the Walnut Cranberry Chicken Salad and the Italiano. No regrets! Both were generously portioned and packed with flavor. I was especially impressed that they use four slices of gluten-free bread per sandwich -- which is thoughtful since GF slices tend to be smaller. For the price, that extra effort really stood out. I also grabbed a side of coleslaw and their homemade potato salad -- both fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the sandwiches. Great may be a bit of s stretch. Let's just go with Wazu and leave it at that. I ordered the Gobbler. Turkey, cranberry sauce, lettuce, tomato and MAYO on multigrain bread. They use Boarshead meats so the turkey was actually very good. The cranberry sauce was cranberry sauce. Lettuce, tomato, check, check. The issue I had was the volume of mayo. I would estimate that there were two heaping tablespoons of mayo on the sandwich which is much too much. Upon first bite half of it ended up on my face instead of in my face. The multigrain bread was a bit of a miss as well. The slices were very thin and the texture is soft. The sandwich fell apart fairly easily which made it difficult to handle. I think a more substantial, thicker, firmer slice would be a better choice. I also ordered a side of coleslaw which really wasn't up to par. Again, very heavy on the mayo. More mayo than slaw. Even the flavor of the Dr. Pepper from the fountain was off. The service was very fast. With that said I was the only customer so it kinda had to be that way. There are plenty of booths for seating. Pretty basic decor. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing? I will probably give Wazu another chance to see if that is the case or not. read more

Actually didn't have a strong beef taste because they add a lot of other ingredients and the sauce is fairly strong, but it all worked together. Sandwich was under $15 and was fairly substantial. I remember coming here for lunch when I worked in the area about 20 years ago! It actually hasn't changed appearance at all. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. They have so many options but because of the good reviews on the walnut cranberry chicken salad sandwhich I went with that. Honestly it wasn't that good. Chicken was overcooked and tough and it didn't even have a lot of flavor. I'd like to come back and try something else since everyone has great things to say. Unfortunately I didn't feel the same. It's been a while since I've had The Great Wazu and I'm happy to report that it's still epic. This is definitely one of the best places around for a deli sandwich. They can literally make everything and anything. Wraps, hoagies, salads, hot paninis, sides and on and on. The menu is overwhelming but sometimes you cannot go wrong with a deli turkey sandwich. Bread is soft and fluffy and sandwiches come with a super generous portion of meat. Prices are fair and service is speedy. First time visiting. Got the roast beef insanity for myself & the TBLT for the Wifey. Was the roast beef truly insane? Nope. I was expecting insanity due to not only the name but also the pictures on the website - which look pretty insane. I think I got about half of the protein that I was hoping for to be in the sandwich. Salt & Vinegar Chips were spot on though. People were friendly and vibe was just fine - what exactly you'd expect at a sandwich joint in a strip mall. Although, I do like whatever sauce they put on the sandwich. That was good and not too overpowering. I would have definitely loved a more insane protein packed sandwich that was bursting at its seams with roast beef so when you open it up, your first reaction is holy shit....this is insane!! ...definitely didn't have that reaction. And I should also mention very patient. They have quite an elaborate menu with many fun and unique sandwiches but of course you can just pick your standard ham and cheese. I had a medical procedure where I had to fast for 36 hours. I was planning my post-fast meal. I could have any lunch I wanted. I wanted a Wazu roast beef, turkey and Swiss sloppy Joe. The sandwich menu is huge here. I decided to go with one of the "Chef's Choices", the "Roast Beef Insanity". It was certainly insanely huge and pretty delicious! It's made of roast beef, cheese, pickles, peppers, onions, and this chipotle aioli sauce which gave it a nice kick. One of the keys is that the sandwich is made on this rosemary Parmesan bread which was excellent! There's a large selection of chips and drinks. There's a large seating area if you're dining in. I don't know what took me so long to stop by this shop but now that I finally did I'm hooked. First time in here I grabbed their signature "Roast Beef Insanity" Sandwich which consists of thin sliced lean Roast Beef, American Cheese, Onions, Peppers, Pickles, Lettuce, and Chipotle Mayo all on Rosemary Parmesan Bread. During my 3 weeks in town, I tried the TBLT and the Honey Turkey Bacon Ranch. I thought they were both delicious and I enjoyed the side of macaroni salad as well. There are countless options for sides that include chips and pasta salads. Grab whatever you want as you walk in and pay for it all once your sandwich is ready. This place must get packed during peak times because there are signs telling you how long it'll be from certain points in line (like a theme park) but there was never a line during my two visits. The restaurant delivered everything on time. I had to go to the restaurant because I needed to get a receipt that was missing from them and the spot was spacious for dine in.
