There is no way I can give Cacao fewer than 5 stars. Hot chocolate: so much yes. They have a "decadent" one, which is dark (72%) chocolate. They have one with nutella. They even have one with bananas and rum (and also Bailey's). And all of their hot chocolate drinks are super thick and melty, like basically drinking melted quality chocolate. Gelato: best coconut ice cream/gelato/frozen dessert I have ever had in my entire life, period. Staff: so nice. Couldn't be better. Location: the best. Right on a cute little square, close to the Marriott and Hilton Old Town, close to the old town square, and perfect for an after-dinner snack. read more

Seriously? I haven´t written a review for this awesome place yet? Shame on me. So here we go to fix this mistake. Definitely one of the best cafes in Prague. Not only because of service. Service is amazing btw. But because of the offer of ice cream, smoothies, cakes, sandwiches etc. They make their own ice cream and they do it at the same place so it goes straight from maker to customer. And I like how they experiment with flavours. You can find many unusual ones and they are delicious. Delicous are also smothies. They have a lot of variants from purely vegetable or fruity ones to mixed ones, or better say experimental ones. Like mixing some kind of fruit with vegetable. It´s not a place for common lunch as to which many people are used to. But they have a sandwiches or baguettes. And everything is fresh and high quality so it´s perfect for breakfast or light lunch or just snack during the day. And coffee? Coffee from doubleshot can´t usually dissapoint. Plus tea from Tea Mountain. Perfect combination. So you haven´t been here yet? You should fix this mistake. read more

The vibe is simultaneously classy and casual, with free books on the shelves and a nicely lit set up with good music. The wellness tea was fantastic - it's served with lots of herbs and lemon and honey on the side - just what I needed! iThe decor was great and the service was good. I had the blueberry cake. The cake layer was dry and it had an odd jello blueberry layer which didn't seem to fit with the cake. The compote on top was average and the cake felt drowned in it. The orange cake was underwhelming as a whole because the orange flavour was overwhelming the fudge, the chocolate and whatever cake layer there was. It had a mushy texture which was odd. I had better. UPDATE I'm updating this review because I received a sincere apology from the owner. It was a classy move on his part. I didn't in fact try the ice cream... but I wish I had. You should try it yourself and make up your own mind. There is a very sincere and honest owner behind this establishment and although I stand behind my review, he won me over with his genuine concern. For me, that's worth another star. A really great place right at the Namesti Republiky and just a few steps from the Palladium shopping centre. It is a very nice cafe where you can get amazing cakes, delicious ice cream and also some salty finger food if you are not in the mood for sweets. The service is fast, professional and kind. My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Atlantic which was walking distance from Cacao, and I'm really glad we decided to check this place out! They have a gorgeous patio facing the square with plenty of seating, and a huge menu with plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options. They also offer a huge variety of desserts. I had a strawberry iced tea from here, and it was phenomenal. My husband had an espresso, and he greatly enjoyed it. We decided to come back later in the evening for some gelato since I was craving ice cream, and the gelato was fantastic! I had the cookie gelato, and while I couldn't tell you what kind of cookie it was, it was so good I wanted to go back for seconds (and the only reason I didn't was because I was super full). I am hoping that strawberries and lemon are not the worst of all the flavours that they offer. Maybe it was the fine street sausage dog that just devoured just right outside this shop. Maybe that messed with my taste buds and made me lose my senses. Maybe I should of listened to my better half as she had the obvious look of doubt on her face; like the times when I lie to hide the truth or tell the truth to hide the lies...something like that. This stuff not worthy of mention at best. Both of the flavours are masked and overpowered by the sweetness. If this is ice cream I am not sure where the cream went because I couldn't taste any creaminess. It's obvious what sells here is the ambiance but I am perplexed by that because Prague is all about great ambiance. Having recently come back to this place, I am now convinced that this is one of the best ice cream shops in Prague. I ordered a scoop of strawberry ice cream, and despite not being a huge fan of strawberries usually, this really blew my mind. Usually with strawberry ice cream you get hints of frozen strawberries in your otherwise very milky flavored ice cream, but you could tell that this was crafted to perfection. It was awesome. This gelato was a bit too cold, making it hard, so it didn't have the right texture. I have been coming here for years (when visiting Prague) and I really like this place. Initially I came here for the breakfasts. They offered an excellent menu selection at a reasonable price. Since my last visit, the interior has been overhauled and it has a much more distinct café feel that encourages people to stay and enjoy the atmosphere. It is a beautiful improvement. It's next to palladium shopping mall and in the center and you will find tourists as well. The terrace is a bit small and the places are tight together. But if you won't have a problem with go there. We were pretty excited about this place since it was close to our airbnb. We came in late evening after dinner one night, just looking for dessert. We got the hot chocolate and gelato. Overall, it was fine, but what ruined the experience was the server. She gave us major attitude and made us feel bad for even trying gelato before buying it. We thought maybe she was just having a bad day, but she seemed friendly to other guests. Bam! Delicious. Came here after finding this place on Yelp! (And noticing the great 2 for 1 check-in offer) We only ordered dessert (gelato and dark chocolate cake) but what we got was heaven. I came here one day before my classes and I stayed for about an hour. I saw a woman doing work on a laptop so I decided to take out my notebook to review for my exam while eating. I must say, I was shocked when I received a message from the owner of Cacao who was deeply disappointed by my past negative review of his establishment. They invited me back and said they had made some changes, and boy did they. I only recognized one server from the previous visit, who greeted us right away, we had no issues with being ignored, getting the wrong things, ordering multiple times or needing anything. I must say a compete opposite experience. A manager even came out to talk to us about the changes they had made and we noticed them as well. I just have to say I commend the owner and management here for caring about the well being of their restaurant and more importantly, their customers. Not many would go through the trouble to talk to a customer, offer them to come back and actually show how the first experience should have been. They didn't even know who I was the second time I came back, so we really saw the changes they had made before we told them who I was. I just have to say excellent customer service and I was impressed big time. Thank you Cacao for setting the hospitality standard in Prague to what it should be. read more

My girlfriend and I came and got a slice of cake each and americanos. The cakes were very mediocre (we each got one of the chocolate varieties they have). Definitely nothing to brag about. The coffee was acceptable, but the cake made our overall visit quite unpleasant. I am quite frankly puzzled by the great reviews this place has. Not even the service was good as others described.
