It took a few days for Mike to respond to my initial contact, which I attempted by both phone and Yelp message. Once he got back to me, everything went 100% smoothly: We scheduled the needed service for my refrigerator. He gave me a time window for the appointment and told me the total price in advance. Mike stayed in contact via text message and on the day of the appointment told me when he was on his way and alerted me when he was 20 minutes out. I got top notch fridge repair service, but Mike never showed up. Mike didn't have to. I called on a Friday morning after searching for reliable alternatives to the ne'er-do-well handyman my uninterested landlord prescribed to fix a dysfunctional fridge. The fridge froze but didn't defrost. Mike said he couldn't make it to my apartment til Monday. I said thanks, but that I'd give it a shot myself. Despite paying a gentrifier's rent for our undermaintained Bed-Stuy 1BR, I'd been taking everything out, taking the freezer apart, and defrosting the coils with a hair dryer every three or four days for months. The landlord's guy was a no-show for the fourth time that Friday morning. In the week before we got burglarized one night and my car was stolen the next. And there were rats living in the walls. I was done with all the damn nonsense. I needed something to go right. I threw enough poison in the pre-luxury rehab, hollowed-out building next door to wipe out the rodent metropolis. Now the fridge was going to get fixed. Instead of ending the call, Mike asked if I'd done this and that already, and when I'd said yes to those, he recommended a couple more things to check. I'd already done all those things on my own. I told Mike that. I was very proud of my DIY wherewithal. I kept that to myself. Between having tried a bunch of things already and getting Mike's Fridge Repair 101 on the call, I knew exactly what to parts to pick up at Cap's Appliance (the only parts place in Brooklyn I found open) that afternoon. I double checked everything Mike brought up on the call and installed the new defrost timer and thermostat. Two weeks later, the fridge is not only running, but doing so in the way fridges are supposed to - it thaws out. And the rats haven't been around. And I got the car back. These guys are definitely as good as it gets! We've been having some trouble with our A/C - a strange rattling noise starts up if we run it for a while. We spilled oil on oven insulation. Heating up the oven created this horribly smelling smoke, and realized we needed it repaired. I did research on how to fix this and really couldn't find an easy solution. We then reached out to Cacici & Sons because of the 5 star review. Mike reached out to us the same day and was very honest with what could be done. He made some research and advised that the insulation is factory assembled, and even if he could order it, there really would not be a way to replace it. He gave us a few recommendations on how we could try to clean it, which we did and it really helped. What we most appreciated is that he called and advised that it couldn't be repaired, instead of showing up and charging for evaluation. When he showed up he was very easy to talk to and walked me through every step as he was diagnosing the problem. Turned out a sock had gotten stuck in the pump.
