My refrigerator has been leaking water from the freezer into the fridge. I called these guys and they sent a guy out on the same day within a few hours. Dennis came by identified the problem, fixed it and then took time to show me and explain what was wrong and what he did to fix it. Paid $140 for the work about 90 minutes. Overall great experience and I will definitely use them again. Also my fridge is not an expensive brand or even well known cheaper brand but no problem for these guys. read more

Reading the great reviews, it's hard to reconcile them with my experience. Maybe this change in service quality is recent? Or perhaps my experience is just an outlier? In any case, this was absolutely one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Vinnie never turned up on time (promised to come by between 3-5, turned up at 6:30 or later, twice) , no update to say he was going to be late, did not fix the problem and left it in a half baked state. After repeated attempts to contact him I sent a text asking him to give me the part number that needed to be replaced so I would get someone else to finish the job since I had visitors staying with us and needed the DW fixed asap. . At that, he called back to say he was not feeling well (I told him to take care of himself and his family , just tell me the part number!) and insisted that he would complete the repair free of charge and refund money already paid, and if he was not well he would get someone else to come by and finish the job, and promised to call back with an update the next day - no update as of day 2. Waiting to see how this ends. But, as of now, my recommendation is to stay as far away as possible, Servue is not worth the aggravation. Update: he called (after I texted) to make an appointment for next day between 10-12. Next day he called at 11:30 to say he is running late, new ETA around 1. Did not work for me, but, looking at silver linings, at least he called! Saga continues... read more

I've had the unfortunate experience of being paired with Leo, apparently everyone else got Vinny. What gives? I don't know what I did wrong but I will lay it out exactly. My gas stove had an issue, I called in the main line and left a message. The next day, I got a call back from a different phone number from one of the repairmen - Leo. We set a repair date. Keep in mind - I don't have a lot of paid time off and every day I stay at home to wait, it is a risk to my job. day #1: Leo is one hour late. I call him. Turns out he had a car issue or emergency of some sort. I am understanding, and we reschedule for 2 days later day #2: Leo is one hour late. I call him. Turns out he is running insanely late. We reschedule for 4 hours later. I go to work. 4 hours later, I return from work, he is STILL late! He apparently went to grab a coffee. Shows up 20 minutes later. Does a diagnostic and does a decent job of explaining what I needed (a new part). He verbally says he'd give me a discount for being late. Writes down the full diagnostic charge on a piece of paper. He says he'll call when he has the part. He also notes about how far I am from Brooklyn. Um, if you don't service Manhattan, then don't take my service call, how simple is that? 1 month later.... I still haven't heard from him. I call. He immediately says the part is coming in tomorrow. Okay, I give him the benefit of the doubt. We schedule for a repair day #3: He is again, one hour late. I call him, and he said he forgot about my appointment!!!!! I am fuming mad at this point, and told him that I do not want to be charged for anything. I also write a customer complaint email to the business. It goes unanswered. We reschedule for the next day. day #4: He shows up somewhat on time (20 minutes late), my stove miraculously decides to work again overnight, thus I can't speak to the quality of their work. He leaves me the part. 2 weeks later: Today I see a hold on my credit card for some amount over the initial diagnostic test, I guess it's for the part. No email. No invoice. Nothing. I don't understand how this business does its scheduling, customer service, whatever, because this lack of paperwork is concerning. I have never had this much trouble with a small business before - and I run one too, so I would know. At this point I am so mad at this business I don't ever want to deal with them again. I am leaving it at 2 stars because at the very least Leo did do his job when on-site. read more

I called Servue because I was having a problem with stove/rangetop. The oven wasn't lighting correctly; same with the burners up top. I made an appointment and they sent their repair guy out. I shelled out about $300. Fast forward 3 weeks: The oven is OK, but the burners still don't light. So, I called again and left a message for Vinnie, finally getting a hold of him after the third message. I made two appointments for him to come by, which he then missed. I called Vinnie and made a third appointment for this past Saturday (11/2), stressing that I was disappointed in the way he didn't show the previous two times without so much as a call. Saturday rolls by and Vinnie doesn't show, no call. Bottom line of my experience with Servue: If they show up, they kinda fix stuff. UPDATE 11/4 Vinnie called me monday morning like nothing happened asking for the address (which I had given him each time I'd called him over the past week) like he was going to come by right now. Unfortunately, I'm not sitting around on Monday mornings waiting for repair guys for days on end, I'm at work. Whatever. This service is pretty awful. read more

1, SLOW Service: it took them MORE THAN ONE MONTH to get my oven repaired!! You need to push them so hard to get them working!! 2, they are never slow when asking money: my broken panel of oven is only $260 online, however they asked for $380 plus $103 plus tax. Nobody wanted to repair the defunct touchpad controls on my not-very-old Jenn-Air range--and after they got into the thing the first time, it was clear that the guys from Servue weren't too happy they had gotten involved. It turns out, there's no real instruction manual for this repair, and--of course--it involves a computer chip. After one unsuccessful attempt to put the thing right, John and his uncle did a lot of homework, calling Jenn-Air, talking to repair gurus. They ordered new parts, kept me apprised of their delivery status, and when they got them and had a full idea of what had to be done to set the panel right, they came once again and had the oven working within twenty minutes. We all knew it was going to be expensive, and it was. Computers. But this repair saved me spending more than twice as much on a new range, and it saved the environment one more prematurely-dumped appliance. Will it stay fixed? Who knows. The Jenn-Air design is terrible--why would any sensible appliance manufacturer put a heat-sensitive control panel on the door of an oven that routinely gets very hot? My fingers are crossed (and I'm sure John's are). But I really want to commend these guys for taking the time and finding the resources to do a job that had other repair professionals telling me, "You'd better buy a new one." read more

Wish I could give Vinnie of Servue more stars....this guy is so unusual and personable to boot. My Maytag dryer/washer combo (one on top of the other) stopped allowing water to enter the machine - the dryer was still working and the timer allowed the machine to spin but when it called for water (like at the beginning of any cycle) ... well, nothing doing. I'm a handy guy and I've repaired washers and dryers before, using how-to books or Google searches. So I checked, the water inlet hoses (clogs are a frequent problem). The hoses were fine. After that, it gets more difficult and we were leaving for Florida the very next day - it could have been the inlet valve or the timer itself. Both require a lot of disassembly and checking with a volt / ohmeter. I could do that but was running out of time. I called SERVUE. Vinnie called me back (he was highly, highly rated on YELP). And then he arrived ... what a guy! A real Brooklyn character with a smile as big as the borough itself! In a few minutes he had discovered that it was blown fuse, NOT any of the major components mentioned above. Presto chango - he replaced the fuse and the washer sprung back to life. It would have been just as easy for him to dishonestly claim that it was a major part and charge me hundreds. No...just a simple fuse. This guy is a gem and unique in today's world. And I now understand why the review have been so good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if your appliance goes on the fritz. I called with a broken washer on a Friday afternoon. After the tub filled, the machine just stopped. It's a Kenmore Series 80, that came with the house I bought in August...no idea how old it was or if it was worth fixing, but read online it was probably the lid switch. I wasn't interested in messing around to fix it myself, plus it was full of water and laundry. He was a little gruf when I called, but it didn't bother me. Two nice older men came over within a few hours, fixed the lid switch and were gone within 30-minutes. I was back to doing my loads of laundry in no time. Impressed. I had a machine at my old rental that was brand new and broke within the first two months. a company, under service from Home Depot, out of NJ came three times and never fixed the problem...they had great phone customer service though.... I will definitely call Servue again when something else they service is on the fritz. read more

I am writing this review because I am tired of being treated poorly by contractors. When I woke up to water on my kitchen floor on Thursday, February 22, 2018, I knew it was going to be a bad day. I quickly discovered that my seven year old LG refrigerator with a water/ice maker on the French door was leaking. Upon further investigation, I realized that the freezer was not freezing and the refrigerator was not cold. I googled to find an appliance repair company in my area that could respond to my dilemma. I found Servue Appliance with rave reviews. I thought great, dependable, reliable, and convenient. I called left a message and Vincent quickly returned my call. He informed me that he had to call me back because he was in Long Island and he was driving. Okay, no problem. He had one of workers call me and inform me that he would be there shortly before 11:00. Again, no problem. John shows up pulls the refrigerator away from the wall. He removes the back panel. He informs that he believes it is a sensor but that he needs the service manual. I offered to call LG to get the service manual but he informs me that he just sent a message out to a blog he belongs to for it and he leaves. I called LG after he left and they emailed me the service manual. I text it to him. At 1:37 PM, I text him to find out what is going on with the refrigerator. John and Eddie return between 3:00 and 3:30 to inform me that the compressor is broken. The compressor is covered by the warranty. Eddie informs me that it will cost me $1,000 minus the service call to fix the refrigerator. I called Vincent later in the day to find out if the $1,000 was just the labor or labor and parts. I asked him if that price was just the labor and if yes, could he give me a better price than what I was quoted. He informed me that he is at the dentist and will call me back within a couple of hours. It is now Monday, February 26, 2018 and I still have not received a return call from Vincent. In addition, I still do not have a working refrigerator. I am thoroughly dissatisfied with the customer service I have experienced from Servue. Just a brutal experience with Servue. Called for service in June for my Bosch Washer and Dryer unit and set up an appointment. Vinny arrived an hour late (though this seems like an industry standard) took a look at the w+d and diagnosed the problem. He said that he did not have the part in stock and would have to order it. He also took a $75 fee that he explained would count towards the eventual repair. It is now October, despite repeated phone calls to Servue I have not received follow up service. I even spoke to Vinny directly and he promised to call me back, which to date has still not happened. Just awful customer service. Our GE fridge/freezer stopped cooling, and the manufacturer said it would take 5 days to get someone over to fix it. I contacted Servue, based on excellent reviews on the Park Slope Parents website. Vinny came over that same day, assessed the problem--then called back an hour later to say he had the part and would install it that very EVENING. But get this: He didn't charge me until he knew the fridge was cool and back to normal the next day! This is old school good and honest work, folks. We bought our house with a Kenmore range from the early 50's. Everyone told us to rip it out and buy new, but I couldn't part with it, it's a classic. Very fast response (3 hours) despite the fact that my Vonage was down and the repairman couldn't get in touch with me. He fixed my "broken" dryer (which ran but didn't heat) just by asking me questions about when I discovered the problem. That led to the solution without him having to even pull the dryer out. The previous day I'd been working on some wiring issues in my garage and had removed the breaker panel cover to trace some wires. He pressed in the 30amp two-pole breaker and... surprise... that was the problem. I'd apparently unseated one pole of that breaker while removing the cover. He could have taken me for a new heater element ($$) but he was a uniquely honest guy. Five stars plus. He also probably saved my table saw motor because it's 220v and shares that breaker. read more

Our AC was blowing black dirt all over our apartment, and we needed to get someone in to look at the unit and possibly have it cleaned. After having a terrible experience with another AC repair company (Air Wave - see my review), I called Servue. They're family owned and operated, and it shows. From the first phone call, where they took the time to ask what the problem was and offer some temporary solutions, to the actual service call, I felt like I was dealing with someone I could trust. These guys know their stuff and treat you like a friend of the family and not just an anonymous customer. No BS, no run around - just good, honest service. My 1940's stove and fridge needed help. The oven barely made it above lukewarm and the fridge froze everything in it periodically. Afraid I'd have to replace both, I decided to try Servue as a last resort. Vinnie came over within a few days of my call, and within 15 minutes had fixed both. Told me never to get rid of these gems as they were built to last and not to waste my money on newer , lower quality appliances. Price was very reasonable. Love this guy! read more

I needed a new Bosch dishwasher installed. I left a message for Vinny at Servue at the recommendation of another company that could not take it on. I was quoted $225 for the install. Vinny called me back and was at my house within the hour. He did the install for the quoted price despite having to go out to get some connectors since my plumbing was old. Vinny was pleasant and chatty. We did the cleaning up of the packaging material, took out the old dishwasher and had to tack down two tiles that he took up in the installation process or it would have been a 5 star rating. read more

Servue is the smartest and most professional appliance repair company I've encountered in my nearly 20 years in Brooklyn. I would like to send a huge thank you to John from Servue for diagnosing and repairing a major problem with our dryer that is not listed in any service manual. The problem we were experiencing would have destroyed the dryer had it gone on for much longer, but we kept having bad luck with finding a good local repair person. By the time John looked at our dryer, two different appliance repair technicians had already taken it apart and found nothing, and a third declined to even look at it when I described the issue. One of my tenants had a broken fridge and I called the 10 listed spots in Brooklyn for appliance repair and everyone was busy except Servue. They charge a $95 service fee to come check it out, but I was in a jam and needed the help. The guys came by and assessed that it was too expensive to repair the $600 compressor, and that I am better off getting a new fridge, which I did. I gave them my CC, which they overcharged on a clerical error. Vinny was quick to apologize and rectify the situation. If in a jam, I'd go with these guys again. read more

Vinny is a genius who repaired my 15-month-old Maytag dishwasher by telephone and without charge after I described the problem. It had been stopping dead after two and a half minutes, no matter what wash cycle I set it on. After hearing my tale of woe and asking a few questions, Vinny suggested that I reboot the dishwasher's electronic system by turning off the circuit breaker it was connected to and turning it on again. Worked like a charm! This is an honest guy who could have easily pocketed a $125 service call charge by coming to my home and doing it himself. After discovering that our dishwasher was leaking over the holidays we called around to several appliance repair companies. The first one didn't show up for the appointment that we rushed home for. The second company (Len's) also did not bother to show up on a Saturday and wasted the day for us. A good number of the other companies that we called didn't have availability on the weekends or at night. When I called Servue I left a message and got a call back within a couple of hours. Not only were they very flexible on when they could come, they called to confirm, showed up when they said they would and came back twice with additional parts to fix a very complicated problem without charging us more than the original quoted price. John was also very professional and pleasant to have in my home. He even showed me how to do maintenance on our refrigerator's compressor to extend it's life, even though he didn't even come in to repair the fridge.
