We have been here many times. We love the owner. But over the past few years it has declined. This last time will be our last visit. The table was dirty. The menu had food on it. The floors were dirty and my set up had food on it also. She did bring a new set up. We ordered a chicken chimi and shrimp on a skewer with baked potato. Half way in to eating the potato I found a hard thing like fried flour bit. in it.Yuck. The chicken was beef by the way and by the time she got back to us we were so disgusted we asked for the check. I told her all that went wrong and all she said was ok.In the past I have ordered a bottle of wine and had it come to the table already un-corked.Wrong! I come to Cactus Cantina at least once a week im sure(maybe twice!) Ashley is a GREAT server :) She's been the one that we get often. I love their martinis here! The place has a cute set up with a bar in the middle. The food is alright, not the best, but, definitely not the worst. My boyfriend and I often come here before a movie since there is a little movie theater right across the street. I love the fact you get free chips and salsa with every meal. Came in for lunch great happy hour drinks and appetizers. Staff was joking around and seemed genuinely happy. I got a call later that night from a buddy saying I left my wallet there. I have to think most of the negative reviews were written by some other jealous restauranteur. Again, good food and better value. It appears to be a family biz (the servers never seem to change) and while it advertises itself as a Mexican joint, the steak medallions are the best thing on the menu. To start I want to say the lady who served us was good. The salsa was bland with NO heat. The taco meat was unseasoned...while technically correct it lacked in any ooomph. I can say that for the flautas and Tamales also...the dish lacked imagination and taste. The burger was just an ordinary burger...there is no real life breathed into either dish. The best thing about the dinner was the fries...they were good. I say this NOT because I want to be mean but because they should hire a chef and cooks who have heart and soul...what we got was no better then a Swanson frozen dinner....the manager should be appalled at the blandness of the food being served and if he doesnt notice and want his kitchen to be of higher standard then he or she is in the wrong business! read more

Worst $65 spent in my entire life. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Here's what happened... we were finishing up with soft ball and decided to go to dinner at a nearby place(cactus cantina). When we got there I asked about food allergens used and the manager let me know that there was nothing we needed to worry about with my specific concerns (although she sounded unsure) and I decided that with what we were ordering combined with her reassurance we should have no problem so we sat to eat. Then we ordered. When the food came out it all began! My friends first "appetizer" came out (coconut shrimp) and it looked utterly disgusting and inedible. Then my dish comes out with the wrong sides (things I literally can't even eat), THEN their fajitas come out smoking so bad that the entire room filled with smoke so bad that people all In the room were bothered and talking loudly about it. We asked them to take them because of the smoke and they were obviously burning and the guy left the room for two minutes and brought them bake still smoking up a storm! Then my friends fish taco came out... literally a cold piece of fish on a greasy slimy tortilla with no toppings and a cup of corn on the side! At this point I feel like it's a joke and they are Messing with us. By the way, we were a party of 10 with 6 adults and 4 kids and we had compliments on how well our kids were behaving and they had their own table. Plus I had my 3 month old baby (getting all the smoke in her new lungs) and my mother inlaw who is suffering with cancer and hardly ever gets out for a nice dinner. So my friends don't eat and let them know there is no way they will pay for food that can't even be eaten! And they come back saying they can have $10 off. Finally (I think) the bill gets resolved and their son has a reaction from the Mellon he has eaten. He eats Mellon all the time and has no known allergies... so our question is what's in or on their fruit? My son, the one with known allergies, was told he could eat there safely. But after all of their incompetence and ignorance and just plain negligence I would never feel safe eating there again and I would strongly advice against it. Also when the fire truck came and took away their poor son who reacted to the food no one that worked there or manager even came out once to check to see what was happening or if he was ok! The fire truck was in front of the entrance and they had no concern for their guest safety! That's not even human! I am utterly disgusted, disappointed, and embarrassed that I recommended going there. What kind of human being knows a small child is having an allergic reaction and doesn't come out to check on him? My family and I went here Friday night for dinner and I have to say I was not impressed. It started out good, We had a group of 7 and got a table within five minutes, which was awesome. It all went down hill from there unfortunately. It took about 10 minutes for a waitress to even get to our table to take our drink order then about another 10 minutes to actually get our drinks which consisted of 4 waters 1 beer and 2 sodas. Should not have taken that long. We had to ask twice for chips and salsa as did the table next to us. Their special that night was prime rib. My dad ordered it and when he finally got it it was cold and both of his sides (baked potato and green beans) were cold. The green beans were still raw. It took almost an hour from the time we sat to the time we got our food. My family visits this restaurant semi-regularly on Sundays since their church is really close and we are usually very pleased with them but, if that was my first time there is would never go back. read more

This place has mediocre food. I've been here a few times, and I've never been amazed at the food, but I've never been in a position where I disliked the food so much that I couldn't eat it. They do have their off days though. Like one time, I had garlic bread, and it tasted like it had freezer burn. I've eaten at Mexican restaurants with better food, so maybe I'm just spoiled here. Overall, I'd give this a 7 out of 10 for the food. Setting-wise is very cozy. I do like it a lot. So I give that a 9 out of 10. Service is usually good. 9 out of 10 for the service. And if you have a coupon...good luck. It's a hit or miss with this restaurant. If you have a coupon, then go in there with the expectation that they're going to dishonor your coupon, so you won't be as upset when they deny it or give some condition to prevent you from wanting to use them. Best place I've ever had prime rib!! So delicious and it's served Friday/Saturday (that I know of). The staff is super friendly and accommodating with seating. My husband and I have eaten here a few times and the fajitas are great but tonight we were thoroughly disappointed with not only the food quality but mostly the service. The hostess was great! She sat us quickly. The server, a young woman related to the owner was very pleasant and struck up a conversation upon greeting. However after we ordered our food she was non existent. The crappy list starts here: we never got a side of beans we ordered, we could have used napkins at the start of our meal not near the end, our drinks were never refilled (water), my cobb salad was bland and tasted like water. My husbands Teriyaki chicken was rubbery like it was microwaved from smart n final. Our only saving grace was that we shared our 2 year olds boneless chicken wings. We decided to come back here after about a year. It was not what we rembered unfortunately. The menu is too large now and the quality of food was low. Our waitress was accommodating, we had to ask her to bring us different chips and salsa, the first basket we got were cold and stale. The tortilla soup came out cold and was chunky, not traditional. We had the nachos, the chicken was dry and the cheese was sparse. The chips were also stale. We got a salad with ranch, the dressing was the best part of our meal. We were underwhelmed, they should change the name and theme if they're going away from serving quality mexican food. I only gave three stars because the service was nice.
