It has been a few years since we'd been to a Cactus Club. So we came here for a lunch date, and I can say it was a lovely experience. We had made a reservation for when they first opened so we were the first ones in the restaurant. We were seated right away and our waitress Teagan was friendly and polite. I liked the house white wine, and ordered the signature shrimp ravioli with a side salad. It was a good choice as the pasta dish was very rich and the salad really helped. I highly recommend getting a salad with that dish. It's super rich and indulgent, so delicious though. I might order the app size next time though. Hubs ordered a zero proof cocktail and the curry and rice dish, it was also very good. My only tiny complaint was that the music was a bit loud. I asked if the music could be turned down a bit. The waitress said she had asked the manager and that they would turn it down. Sadly the music stayed the same, but everything else was top notch! read more

Don't get to go to this restaurant all the time since there's only two locations that I'm pretty far from both of them but every time I have gone, the food has been incredible. Service isn't as quick as the other places I've been to, but the staff are friendly and the food is good. Had the teriyaki chicken rice bowl peppers, broccoli, red cabbage, bean sprouts, spicy yogurt. It's always a good choice but have also have had: THAI RED CURRY red coconut curry, jasmine rice, bok choy, baby corn, bamboo shoots, crispy rice, thai basil, cilantro, chilis. Great flavours It's nice restaurant inside with a relaxing nice bar. The prawn crunch roll is great if you're just looking for an appie. read more

I'm not certain why I'm here, and it is totally unexpected as I shouldn't be in Edmonton. It's the Canadian fires. (Let's hope they end soon for all our Canadian neighbors.) Centrally located, the restaurant is chic, beautifully designed, and pleasant. Sat outdoors and they had misters for the not so bad heat (78degees F) The menu is extensive with lots of good options. I selected the lemongrass salad with prawns. It was excellent, full of shredded fresh veggies and cold noodles. It was lightly dressed. The prawns were some of the best I've had in some time. I went here with my cousin for lunch. I still think that the restaurant here is gear for younger people and for lunch professionals. We weren't either.The ambiance is okay but not unique. Think of it as an upscale Earls. Our server was distracted for most of our time. It took her awhile to refill drinks and see how we were doing. It was quite busy. Menu has something for everyone which is nice. And the food here is pretty decent but on the pricier side. I decided on the salad with crab cakes with fries while my cousin had the green curry. Food came out in a timely manner. My crab cakes were quite good and I really enjoyed the salad that came with them along with the fries. Decent crab ratio and cooked well. I am a big fan of Cactus Club- it's consistently good, and the menu has a lot of different options for my taste. My personal favourite which I tend to order is the Med Bowl. I absolutely love it. It feels healthy but is also so delicious. I will crave it at times! Cactus Club Cafe is pretty much the same vibe as Earls, or Joeys.... I don't know what you call this "genre" of restaurant chain, but they're kind of loungey with a similar type of menu. Cactus wins, for me though. Maybe it's because I don't make it there often- as there's only two locations in Edmonton and neither are near me. A treat though. Cactus Jasper definitely has a more upscale vibe than the west edmonton one. Me and the wifey were craving the med bowl, so we decided to have a date night to Cactus. Upon arrival we were greeted pleasantly by the hostess and seated earlier than our reservation. We were sat in the dining room patio. Definitely a beautiful patio except for the Jasper Ave traffic of douchbags that like to rip their loud cars down the street. We got the Zen rolls to start (compromise with wife who doesn't like actual sushi) a few summery bevys followed by 2 med bowls that did not disappoint. Presentation and quality was on point. Definitly still a hot spot in edmonton. Consistently pleasing spot in Edmonton and definitely recommended the med bowl with chicken and falafel! read more

They've used the space as best they could but squeezing past to visit the washroom can't be comfortable for everyone. No complaints food wise, they make healthy tasty. Great cocktails, didn't partake this time though. Also a fun selection of BC beers, as the restaurants origins would suggest. Cactus Club remains a four star for me. I've had the curbside take out a few times. The food is really the same as dine in. Same good quality and hot. As always the appies are great, this is the one place where I indulge myself and have the fries because they're soooo good. Supper here is super. The food is varied. Currently there are a number of options for ordering, I'm fond of the two course meal where one can select an appetizer and a main from a selected list. For curbside pick up one parks out back in selected spots, it's a bit busy back there, no matter what time/day I've been there. When you arrive you text to let them know, and so far they've been out with my order in about five minutes. read more

Every time I visit Cactus cafe with my friends, it's a blast. The place has a great vibe - just the right mix of chill and lively. The food is fantastic. Whether grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a longer meal, we are satisfied with the taste and variety. One of the best things about this spot is the space. Literally the driest most unseasoned food ever, never returning. the waitresses disappear and come back 20 minutes later, you looking around to find them and you'll see them chatting it up with the co-workers as if they're off the clock or something. The restaurant itself has terrible lighting I could barely see in front of me even though it's 5pm and the sun is up, is it so hard to get better lighting? Overall: avoid, avoid, avoid. read more

I've been here occasionally over the years and have rather enjoyed myself. The blueberry tea being probably my most preferred alcoholic drink that they serve here, and now that they have a non-alcoholic drinks menu as part of the drinks menu I'm super happy with their soul revival drink too. They've obviously updated their bathrooms (foot operated flushes didn't remain) over time. They've also had to adapt to the pandemic with the menu offered as a link viewable by people on their phones. Their happy hour specials are always a great deal. They have really good food deals in addition to the expected drink deals at their happy hour times, and I've taken advantage of that over the years. My favourite menu option is the butternut squash ravioli with prawns (which is available as both a main and as an appetizer). I also like the poke bowl but honestly most options on the menu are excellent -- you cannot go wrong with their food. If you're doing group dining, they'll put a gratuity on the bill (so be aware of that) but that's a good practice at any restaurant seating a large group. Reservations are recommended as they certainly can get busy. Their patio is large but enclosed and has patio heaters if the weather requires it. The bar/lounge side of the restaurant can get loud at night. There is a paid parking lot nearby and transit here is great in general. read more

One of the few nice establishments that my cousin took us to eat while in Edmonton. Since we came pretty late, it was pretty crowded and we had to stand around in the super dark ass waiting area. This gave us ample time to look at the late night happy hour items and drinks. we got seated and OF COURSE the first thing we order are drinks. I don't remember exactly what we ordered, it but it was around New Years, so it was pretty "festive." and when I mean festive, they literally put a fuckin piece of a pine tree branch in my drink and called it a day. probably plucked it from outside, honestly. my sister got this frozen sangria thing with a blackberry on top. this one was MUCH better... I don't know why she got it though -- we were trying to get warm from the heat lamps but she got literally the opposite onto the foooodd -prawn and ravioli trio: I have an absolute love for butternut squash, and even more so in ravioli. this was delicious, appreciated the mascarpone and the juicy shrimp -- but really really really needed some more sauce. -Fish (possibly cod): this is no longer on the menu, but this was my favorite. It had flaky and buttery meat, complimented with savory thai red curry with the crunch of pine nuts. Love the Cactus Club! I've been here many times... back when I worked nearby a few years ago, I'd stop with coworkers for an extended lunch, and more recently, I've gone for dinner a few times with my husband, sister, mom, and BFF, and it just doesn't disappoint. This is one of the few Edmonton restaurants that I keep coming back to. I typically save dining out (besides fast food/takeout) for when I travel, but obviously with the pandemic, we've been doing that less frequently, and this restaurant has been a nice escape from hiding out at home. The truffle fries are excellent, and the peach bellini and tuna poke bowl are some of the best I've tried anywhere. I also love the butternut squash ravioli. Perhaps my favorite thing about the Cactus Club is that you know what you're getting... it's consistently good and perfect for when you just want something comforting, familiar, filling, and not too pretentious or fancy. That seems to be a tall order these days in this city, even pre-pandemic. The menu has something for everyone... my vegetarian sister loves it here too. Service is friendly and quick, the atmosphere is fun (and it's nice to hear music that was popular when I was a teenager... they definitely know their demographic!), and prices are what you'd expect for downtown Edmonton. read more

Best happy hour in edmonton. Cool vibe. Great music. Delicious food. Cactus club has the best happy hour monday to saturday from 3-6pm or 9pm to 1am. There is an extensive menu of items for $4, $8, $13 or $20. My favourites are the butternut squash raviloi, truffled fries, and the southern smash and frose. I must say that pretty much everything on the menu is delicious. But you must order the ravioli here. Its the best ravioli i have had in my entire life! So addictive and delicious. I cannot get enough of it. I have pretty much extensively eaten here for work parties and they do large groups pretty stellar. Its one of my favourite places for a fun night out. I also have come for late nights on dates, midday with friends and everytime the service is top notch in the restaurant. The lounge can have pretty dismal service at night bc its just way too busy there. I cant rave about the happy hour. This is my go to for late night cheap eats. The dj is typically playing some hard core awesome old school beats. Its a fun place to be no matter what time of day you come here! read more

I like the atmosphere and the service. The quality of the food is pretty good and I like the drinks. I had an Old Fashioned and Our group shared a giant Moscow Mule which was pretty good too. I had millionaire cut steak with a glass of Pinot noir. I enjoyed pretty much everything and I like the level of customer service. The parking for this specific location may be challenging since it's in downtown area so planning ahead would be wise! Also during the week it has a more relaxed atmosphere compare to Friday nights and Saturday nights. It may change your experience completely if you go for a nice quite place on a Friday night and pick this place. I personally enjoy both so it really doesn't bother me. Dined in with the husband and and kiddo with reservations Friday-early evening. We were greeted promptly at their temporary entrance along the east side of the restaurant beside the impark and seated right away. Our server was pleasant and masked the entire time, as were all other staff in the establishment. Menus are accessed via your phone. Food and drink quality were consistent and excellent as always which is why we always enjoy going here. The Frose Sangria is one of my favs when I'm in the mood for a delicious cocktail. We tried the Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wraps for the first time and they were yummy. Price point for food is higher than average though in my opinion for smaller portions. If you can make it here during happy hour (2-5pm) then do try do as there some great deals to be had. The exit is the old main doors and separate from the entrance area. We visited tonight as a group of early 40s patrons. I share this as I think this set the tone for the start of the night. My friend made a reservation and when she checked in was told "we will get to the reservations shortly" while looked over. After a larger group was settled we moved in more in the lobby and sat down. I noticed we were looked over and that another hostess was attending to reservations. Several other groups with reservations were seated and I told my friend to maybe check in with the hostess who seemed to care and actually attended to people. She did and we were seated well after our reservation time. Taylor our server was lovely and our food was great. We were told any dishes with ahi tuna will be discontinued. The shrimp ravioli was lovely as was the spicy ahi tuna roll and tuna stack. While food was good, we frequent many amazing spots that are local, less pretentious and more appreciative. I'm not begging to return. We spend a good amount while out and other places deserve our money more. read more

And who doesn't love the new restaurant/lounge trend of extended late night happy hours. I always get the Salmon & asparagus hold the potato. I always have them do it in a simple lemon juice and garlic. Simply the best way to eat salmon, always. If I don't have this little number which 8/10 times I do, I always get the Millionaires Cut Filet. Both are amazing every single time. Man these locations are phenomenal for steak! It's what I come for all the time I go out here. The chef's cooking them do it right everytime, they are great. I've been around most of Edmonton trying steaks and this place has proved to be the best for me. I could be wrong but so far it's been nailed right here. Besides the steaks, the menu has a great selection, have tried their new sushi and wow it's delicious. I'd recommend a try for sure, see photo below. Atmosphere is very cozy and lightly lit for a romantic feel in my opinion. Restrooms are well kept. The place has limited parking to the downtown sidewalk, paid parking around the building. Came to Cactus on a Saturday evening. Was surprise that we were able to get in and even get a seat on the patio. Woah ! We were greeted by the host and scored some sweet seats. Seating in the patio area is fantastic. If its a bit cooler the heaters are going, and the entire area is pretty much glassed in... so it's really bright, and airy feeling. Our server was great and even though she had a fair number of tables, all of which had patrons all the time, she did great at making sure she was around enough to ask about drinks and check on our food. I went with the Blackened Creole Chicken, and my wife went with the Crispy Chicken sandwich. The meal came out quite quickly considering the restaurant was very full. Kudos to the kitchen for pumping out the orders. Once the food was on the table... the first bites in... and Yum. The Creole had a bit of heat to it, but nothing offensive, and the mashed potatoes were silky smooth. And because I was feeling like it was a dessert kind of night. Went with the Lava Cake. Overall, the food and service were great. The location was awesome for people watching too (especially the patio). The place has packed, but yet our food came out in good time and our server was very good. Cactus isn't my go-to place, but it really should be. I'll definitely be back sooner... Cactus club is a chain restaurant that serves a diverse cuisine. This location on Jasper Avenue is perfectly located near easy access avenue. The restaurant is big and there is a variety of sitting for every occasion. The service is prompt and quite friendly. I ordered the vegan crispy tofu bowl. The meal was a good portion and great flavour. The cocktails are also very good and well made. Overral this place is delicious, simple and great service. The downgrading came from the prices. I personally don't think the portions, quality and price match. Another issue was the lack of vegan options but that's normal. read more

I got violently ill a couple of days ago from the food here. Ate the chicken bowl and vomited as soon as I got home later in the evening. I'm not out to trash anybody's business, but when they are making food that is making people sick, it's so disappointing. I've eaten the bowls there many times and never have gotten sick. At the Westin location and the downtown location. This place does have great service, but I'm absolutely shocked that they would serve something that would make somebody sick. I hope they turn things around with their food, until then, I will not be eating any food here.
