I had been here before for a quick lunch and had got a pub burger on that occasion. There was nothing great about the burger but the fries were delicious. Anyway, I found myself here again a couple of weeks later. After scanning the menu, something caught my eye. It wasn't what I would typically expect at a place like this. So I ordered this #28 Dragon Bowl, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. It arrived a few minutes later. Visually it didn't look that appealing except for the red cabbage shreds on top which was nice. A few bites into this and I am thoroughly enjoying this dish which gave a feeling of a fresh salad layered on top of some yummy coconut rice and teriyaki chicken. I think I have found the perfect dish when I want the satisfaction of rice and chicken coupled with the goodness of a salad. Yum! P.S. - I need to find out what the #28 stands for. I was here twice this week. One time on Friday for lunch and the next day Saturday for also lunch. On the first visit, we sat inside. Our waitress might have been new as she seemed a bit inexperienced. We order cocktails and a nacho and our main dishes. Drinks did not come out until like 10 min after our meals. When I asked about the drinks, we were told that they didn't have a bartender. I asked for water because it was a hot day and we were super thirsty. The waitress took a while to bring our wanters. She really didn't come and check on us and didn't bring us plates for our appetizers. the food was good, but the fact that we didn't have any liquids was not the best. I was not happy with the service. On Saturday I asked to be sitted outside, hoping it would be an dif server. It was. Our server on Sat brought us waters right away. our drinks were out before the food and the food was good. I got a crispy chicken sandwich. It was good. Our experience on Saturday was really good. I will continue to come back here because it's close to my house and it's a cute hidden place in the Southside! glad I came back Saturday and had a positive experiance. read more

Nice south side gathering location. Great vibe to the place and I really liked the idea of the covered outside seating area with a fireplace. I will definitely take an advantage of that area when it gets warmer. The layout of the bar-restaurant area is very open giving it a good vibe for socialization but this also makes it a bit hard to hear when the place gets busy. The group of us all enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and commented several times it would be good to bring a larger group of friends here next time. What blew me away and my friends commented on it too, was how attentive the service was. My iced tea refill got switched so fast that I didn't even realize my waitress was beside me. Food service was quick (appetizers and main course) and I really liked the spice level of my choice (nice that I didn't need to add spice to my tacos). However my friends were actually surprised that their food was spicy. It wasn't that they didn't enjoy their meals but one friend can only handle so much spice. So my recommendation to you is check what spice level of your order is. Same goes for their drinks, especially if you order a Caesar (my friend said she ordered it because the drink menu didn't list Tabasco but that was all she could taste was how hot the drink was). However, I thought it was great that she could change the Clamato to tomato juice when she had ordered the drink, as that's what she prefers. Dessert was completely satisfying and if you like key lime pie, I highly recommend you save room. Overall I thought it was a good spot for supper and I'll definitely be back again. read more

Very cool place, nice atmosphere, However... Staff pushed towards the more expensive dish so I went with it. Steak and sushi. 30 dollars would be ok if the steak was amazing. Came here for lunch with the group from work. They had some great bowls for lunch. I had the #23 dragon bowl. It was an original dish that was fantastic over rice it was chicken and veggies topped with some purple cabbage and a nice tangy sauce. Everyone else had some other bowl and all looked great. I'm definitely a fan of this place! I love the layout and all the wood accents - such a nice touch! I had the Spicy Crispy Chicken sandwich and a poutine. You can find out so much about a restaurant based on how their poutine is - and they did NOT disappoint! The fries tasted hand-cut and the gravy definitely tasted house-made (they fooled me if it's not). The sandwich was so damn good. The mix of flavours between the chili mayo and the hot sauce cooked into the breading gave it a nice amount of kick but packed it with interesting tastes. Add the smoked bacon and Jack cheese, and this thing can't get any better. I'll definitely be back for more! read more

I've been curious to see what this place has to offer because it sounded like a bar/tap house. Surprisingly, the patio atmosphere is modern & sophisticated. It's also has glass panels so that you can still eat in comfortable temperatures without truly being exposed to cold weather. There's a typical bar in the middle of the main restaurant with casual vibe decor and dimmer lighting. We had a long wait, but surprisingly the hostess estimated wait of 20 minutes was right on. They also text alert you when they're ready to seat you. Staff are pretty friendly, and prompt too. Now for the menu...there's a blend of western food with tacos and Asian dishes in the mix. Something there to please anyone I suppose. Wait time for food was remarkably fast.. Felt like just about 5-10 minutes. We tried the tuna stack & the #28 dragon bowl with hand cut double cooked fries on the side. Food temperature was excellent & flavours well balanced. Definitely different fare than most similar chain restaurants I've been to. Although it looks like it may not be enough, that appy & main + side was enough to satisfy myself & the Hubby without leftovers. I booked the patio for my husband's birthday for 40 people. It was a really cold day so the general manager Clint made sure that everybody was toasty, so he went over and beyond to bring all the space heaters that he can get to make us comfortable while dining in the patio. There was a minor issue with my sushi and our server Kaitlin was on it straight away. She was both extremely professional as well as very personable. A manager came over to chat with us as well which was an added layer of class. I came here with my hunny for a late night after work feed. I was absolutely famished and it was the only place close to my house that could tame this girls hunger. We were cheerfully and enthusiastically greeted by two ladies as soon as we walked in. We asked if we could sit in the beautiful patio area's comfy couches but sadly no food service was available there (understood... Nice couches+messy food=dirty, messy couches). So into the dining area we go! Our lovely server Bobbi was a delight from the beginning. Mentioned drink specials and allowed us the time to make a choice without hovering. Delivered drinks in a timely fashion and was able to tend to all of our dietary/menu questions honestly and promptly. Cocktails were great! No need to comment too much. I had the blueberry and sage martini, it was sweet enough and strong enough. No complaints! Food came out quickly and hot! I had the Blackened Chicken Carbonara in the 1/2 portion and a side of fries. While I would say the pasta was more like an Alfredo than a Carbonara is was still delicious!!!! The chicken was perfect and I would probably have the dish again the next time I visit. The menu offers a lot, so making a choice was not easy. They make all sauces, dips and marinades in house, which is music to our ears seeing as my BF has a few dietary restrictions. Brown's easily deserves 5 stars from me. We've waited and waited for this place to open. Finally it's open and perfect opportunity to try is lunch for my wife's birthday. First impression... Wow! It's industrial and modern. Wonderful looking patio which we passed on today. The chairs are super comfortable which is perfect for a long stay of drinks and appies. Ok so now to the staff. Great people who are warm and friendly. Gives you the impression when you walk in here that these people actually like their jobs, been to some places where it seems like you inconveniencing them by asking for a drink or your order. Not this place. I had a pint of the Social lager, delicious might I add. One of the smoothest, crisp lagers I've ever tasted. For lunch my wife had the quesadilla meal and not a single comment can be made that isn't basically a shining star. Myself I ordered the beef dip. I added havarti cheese to it. So fun fact about me I love a beef dip. Had them almost everywhere. I can tell you that this beef dip is hands down the best I've ever had. The beef was medium rare and seasoned unbelievably. The jus was so flavourful I wanted to drink the remainder. The fries to compliment the sandwich were so crisp and not at all greasy feeling. I'm sold! My wife and I celebrated our late anniversary here. It was a few days ago but as a coach I had a game the night of our anniversary. We walk in the door and greeted by a friendly face. The face of a person who was actually happy to greet you in the doors. We get our table (our same regular table we always have) have a peek at our menus when out of the blue our server comes to give us the low down on drink and food specials. Now let's take a moment to talk about this amazing woman who had this smile that absolutely lit up the room. Her name was Tabitha and she has mastered the game of serving you but yet making it feel like your at a dinner party and she's your friend hosting it. My wife and I mentioned to each other how impressed we both were that she made us feel like we were just among friends. The true meaning behind a public house (pub). This was the experience that really seals the deal as far as our feelings towards Brown's Socialhouse. The food was absolutely exceptional, the service all around was possibly the best I've ever had anywhere thanks to Tabitha. I can only hope that we can cross paths with her again in the future. The place was slammed and only getting busier as we sat there and yet the kitchen and front of house staff nailed it out of the park. BRAVO Brown's Socialhouse! I went there for the first time last night. I had heard nothing but good things about it so I was anxious to try it out. We got there for happy hour and enjoyed $4 beers and cheaper starter dishes. We had nachos and they were $19 + $4 for chicken. When they arrived I was disappointed in the serving size especially for the price and the chicken was basically non existent. Disappointing. I then ordered a meal (blackened chicken Caesar salad). The salad was very small and the piece of chicken was about 3/4 of the size of my iPhone. The food is typically really good so I would give it 4-5 stars but today, I was given a really salty cod that tasted disgusting and it didn't have the sauce on it that they usually have that goes on it. Just the cod, nothing else. They ran out of rice so it just completely ruined the dish. I am very disappointed, they should always remain in stock of food items that complete their dish, or just not serve them at all. This is probably a one time occurrence that would most likely not happen again but for future reference, don't serve dishes that are not complete, they just become ruined and disgusting. read more
