This review is for the hotel rooms in the tower only - and they are amazing! We chose a suite with a jacuzzi tub just because we needed extra space for a little one. The front desk and casino and dark, old and worthy of a one star review but the tower hotel rooms are shockingly amazing! We stayed here for one night and it was really one of the nicest rooms we've ever stayed in. We stopped here on our way home from Sun Valley staying at the resort on our way to the Four Seasons in Vegas and this place was a great stop. Triple A card gets 10 percent off as well. A great stop when passing through - just demand a tower suite and stay out of the casino unless u like creepy and old. read more

I'm starting out at four stars I might talk myself down to three. I've been coming here for 30 plus years. The place is pretty consistent and is made for the locals. The staff is friendly, DeDee is the bomb! Not sure how long she has worked here but she always has a smile and is just pleasant and helpful. The place was a lot better when it was Ameristar but corporations chew up the little guy. The rooms are comfortable but are starting to get worn. Soap dish in the shower is broken, wallpaper pealing and my wife and I got stuck on the elevator for a short time. The food in the buffet was pretty good. I wouldn't drive here for it but it really is only one of two good experiences I found. The other was the pool, nice with plenty of chairs and lounges. Now realizing that is a casino I expect to gamble. That being the case gambling and especially slots should have some return. Cactus Pete's has decided to lower the win percentage to a point where it's no longer gambling. Nobody was winning and the casino floor was relativity quite considering the amount of people. Unless you just want to sit by the pool, this place is now not worth the effort. Vegas is several hundred miles down the road but better time will be had there. Four star when I started, no maybe two. If I get a response from the casino, please don't use the line "we hope the next time you visit...." I'm changing my review to a single star for the following reason; there response to my concerns were milk toast at best, generally indifferent to my observations. Stayed across from cactus Pete's at the Horseshu location. Took us a bit to find where we were staying. You must first check in at Cactus Pete's and then go to the building across the street that says buffalo and antelope. The rooms are a bit out dated- no refrigerator or microwave. Also no outlet by the bed- so if you have a medical reason to plug something in while you sleep you may want to consider another option. Water in the shower was hot and had good pressure although it squeals bad. Otherwise rooms were clean and nice minus being outdated. read more

$48 With good sam We parked in the back RV Park No tv reception no internet There are hundreds of flies Attacking Us as We had Sat outside to admire the beautiful vista . Very gross 3 flies landed on my glass and drank more then I did! We ran inside and 8 flies joined . How rude and totally uninvited. Seriously gross. Bring a bug zapper and fly swatter with you For inside the RV too Then theres the showers very slimey and smell of Body Odor. Very small showers and a long bench outside to sit on and dress. Oh and the showers are 300 feet away. And then theres all the barking dogs, I guess its fun for the owners to lock the dogs in the RV while the owners go gamble. And let them all bark at each other in other RVs. Update I went to let them know my concerns Martin was awesome while some woman with a bad ponytail tried to defend the fly population.( which irritated Me further) Martin said He would call in the problem if the smelly showers. I got a pizza from Nosh yesterday 7 3 and half of the pizza was burnt to a crisp I couldn't eat it I couldn't even tell that there was vegetables on it because they look like little burnt was not very happy about it I can understand why the cook would let something like that go out to a customer do they not look at them before they put them in the box never again will I order a pizza from Nosh it's ridiculous and unacceptable read more

Stayed many times and don't like the TV's. They seem to fade in and out with darkness. Also the channels on guide do not show what's on TV. Frustrating. They just have no information on what shows are on each channel. read more

I'd give Cactus Pete's an overall 4 star rating, but we went for saving a little money this trip and booked our hotel across the street at their sister hotel the horseshu. The savings were definitely not worth the drop in quality so if we come back it will only be Cactus Pete's. read more

Security needs to learn casino rules and customer service don't need to be rude and a jerk to customers

The front desk employees were rude. All the emails I received verifying my stay and their own website says check in is at 4pm. This is apparently FALSE. The middle aged blonde woman up front let us know very passive aggressively that check in is not guaranteed until 6pm...this is after an hour of telling us that someone was cleaning our room. The restaurant Nosh also needs some work...how do you mess up a grilled cheese sandwich? It was burnt and very dry. read more

This review is specific to the rv park. This is basically a first come first served park. The rate is $18-20. I have stayed there numerous times traveling between AZ and home in the north. It is divided into two "parks", an upper and a lower. The upper seems to truly first come, first parked. The lower, this year, may have some reservation capacity. In the past I was able to park in either on a first come, first served basis. There are idiots in the upper park! An example: a young couple with a small car and a micro trailer took a pull through space designed for a 40'+ motorhome and tow vehicle. There were 5-7 35' back-in spaces available. Maybe they don't know how to back up? We moved into the lower park. There was a sign on the office door saying that the attendant was not in but that we should call him. We proceeded find a spot intending to call when we were parked and not blocking the road. As I was beginning to turn in to a site I was chased down by the, and this is the only time I will ever use this word in a review, pissant attendant who was driving a golf cart. We were told that we should come to the office with him and that he would assign us a spot. He then drove off to the office leaving my wife to hike up there and sign in. The sites are 120' long but are meant to be shared nose to tail with another MH/trailer. This is the second year in which they do not have water. They have only 30 amp electrical. For the money you cannot beat the RV park. The bathrooms and showers are clean. The grounds nicely cared for. To parks $22 and $24 both have strong points. $24 closer to the bathrooms but you may share a parking spot. My wife and I went to Jackpot for my 40th Birthday. Not only did I spend $500+ on our suite for 2 days, we had to wait until 630pm Friday night just to get our room when check in is at 4pm. Needless to say I was pissed off. This is the second time in a row I've booked this same room and had to wait 2 hrs past check in time. After visiting over 75 casinos in my lifetime their comp. ( mychoice) program is the worse I've ever seen, ...6 months of no play and your play no longer means anything to them and we really dont want you back and we've deleated your points . And when you do come back after 6 months those points/ you have earned this trip are unavailable for use till you return again. But hey if you're new or play at table games we can give you something like food . So after 1200 points earned $275 for hotel room and you play gets nothing this trip. Pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Because of nearby fires (Winnimucca, Elko, etc) we were unable to find room. Any rooms! Ended up here and we were able to get one non-smoking room and one non-smoking suite. Both beautiful and not outrageous prices. We will probably return. Food in coffee shop was good. We walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner. All good considering the smoky atmosphere (cigarettes and fires!). read more

Second visit to Cactus Petes and I have to say i really like this place. Staff is nice. This is the second time I've come here and left with almost all my money!! And you play a long time on what you gamble. I like the variety of machines. Here's where the geek in me comes out. I like a bank of Batman or Star Wars Machines somewhere in a casino and it's the only thing they don't have. Maybe they are just accommodating their highest age group. But i miss it. Went to cactus Pete's 6/5/20 the first Friday night it reopened from the virus. The atmosphere was good and had a good time but woulda been tons better if they had been properly staffed. U would think they woulda been prepared for people -just showing up. Not enough cocktail waitresses. Really put a damper on the trip. Had to go buy drinks at the bar and even that was a chore. Really need to step that up if u want my crazy ass buddies and I to come back. read more

They want business but have closed all their food places down during COVID 19 except for 1 or 2. It takes 2 hours to get on the list in the evening to eat. You cant effectively order food from their restaurants to go or even bring your own food because they don't even provide a microwave anywhere on property or town for one to eat a hot meal. There is about 5-6 hours on a Sunday morning where there is zero dining available. This is complete nonsense. They want to charge full rate for there rooms while providing 1/4 of the services. I understand this is COVID 19 times but they have done nothing to help modify anything comfort wise for the guests. The modifications have been ones ordered by the state of Nevada in their attempt to comply to reopen. Bottom line - no thought was put into guests comfort. read more

I booked through hotels and thought it was for cactus Pete's but they put us across the street at the Horseshoe building. It's old, moldy and not up to my standards, but whatever, we were there for one night. We went to dinner in the diner in the casino and everything was mediocre at best, but again, it's one night. When me and my family got back to the room we all started to get sick. Like really sick. My 2 year old was violently vomiting. Me and my husband were trying to take turns tending to the littles while we were getting very sick. We narrowed it down to the chocolate cake. We called the front desk to let them know and we were completely brushed off. Security came to talk to us, but did nothing at all. I asked them to check the cake and their response was, "we don't have the power to do that". So anyway, $200 for a trashy room and a painful and miserable night. We would have been better off driving through Jackpot. read more

We always stay in the RV park on our way to and from Montana every year. Nice place to stop. Super friendly staff. Always clean. Nice RV park with wide spaces. Good food and nice casino. We stop in to have dinner and a couple of beers. Always meet really nice people. I love coming here. read more

We love Cactus Pete's , we make a trip every 2 - 3 mos depending on weather, we meet up with my family that live in Boise ID. Our last visit (2/28-3/03 ) was just as great as passed visits ! Rooms are great , we prefer the Granite over the Tower , our first time at the buffet ( my birthday comp ) and the food was delicious ! Crab legs were sooooo good , the restaurant serves great breakfast and dinners as well ! We love the slot machines , big variety, it seems they stay on top of it the new slow games , there are a few older slots , 25cent , but 90% are penny slots , we joined the slot club on our first visit , love our comped rooms and food vouchers, and the extra play money ! We stayed across the street from the casino, at their horseshu location. It was half the price of staying in the tower or newly renovated rooms but the room was actually really nice, double sink, king bed and view of the pool. Which was open 24 hours and heated! read more

While staying a night while on an elk hunting trip we stayed at cactus Peres. We found the room dirty, obviously housecleaning couldn't see the dirty carpet, there was black mold on the shower walls and even the electric plugs were bad, I'd plug my phone recharger in and it would literally fall out of the plug, our wall tent was cleaner. For the Desert Restaurant and the Horseshu portion of the hotel. The food was OVERPRICED, cold. The menu has breakfast on it, however they fail to mention breakfast is only served at certain times. (might help to put that on the menu) Small, small water glasses (needed numerous refills) overall, the place made Denny's look like a 5 star restaurant. The Horseshu part of the hotel was across the street - they didn't mention that on the phone. So my family (with an baby) had to pack up the car again just to go to the main casino to go eat. We stayed one night at the Horseshu, while driving from Seattle to St. George, Utah. Check in was a bit confusing, as you need to check in across the street at Cactus Petes. This would have been helpful to know ahead of time and save ourselves ten minutes of figuring that out. Once we knew where to go, check in was quick and smooth. Best casino in jackpot. I mostly play live poker. Poker room has 6 tables. I have only seen all of them used one time. They get and pretty decent 1 3 no limit holdem game. Max buy in is 500. But usually only one or two tables. Thus wait times on the wait list can get very long. More than 2 hours sometimes. Then they also have 3 6 limit, usually one table. Play is quite variable by players, some good some bad. Friday and saturday night buffet is spendy about 28 bucks. But it is very good with excellent prime rib and crab legs and a bunch of other seafood. Really good desserts too. Hotel is nice but they charge a lot on weekends about 150 , seems ridiculous for middle of nowhere nevada. read more
