We needed a second quote and we asked Pure Climate to help us address an AC unit that stopped working. Communication was frequent via text and the the tech was on time. Chris was very professional and thorough in troubleshooting the issue. He got the unit back up and running, without needing to replace parts, saving us $1,500 from the previous quote. He also pointed out that coils were caked with dirt and debris on both units and needed a heavy cleaning. For an additional fee, he did for us helping to increase the life of the units. They said I was undercharged and added 2 lbs of refrigerant. my bill was about $1000. A month later my compressor went bad and new company recovered about 14 lbs of refrigerant and was told from the factory I should only have 11.5 lbs. the question I have is being 2 lbs overcharge and the hot summer made my compressor go bad. My furnace was leaking water after turning it on for the first time since moving into my new home. I called another local Heating and Cooling company and they effectively told us it would cost $2000 for a temporary fix or $5000 to get a new furnace. Our furnace suddenly started making noise whenever it would run. It was around 8 PM when we started looking for someone to come to the house in order to see what the problem could be. We reached someone who asked us what the issue was & informed us someone could be out the next day around 2 PM. The following day Oscar arrived to evaluate the furnace and gives us our options. Jim, the owner of Pure Climate H&C, provided multiple detailed options for replacing our 20 year old Freon leaking York AC and furnace. We requested a quote for a Bryant HVAC system but after reviewing our 2 -story house needs and budget requirements, he sold us on a York system with 2 stages and 96% high efficiency. Within 24 hours, Jim and Jose, installed both units, humidifier, and upgraded filter compartment on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. The quoted AC unit was no longer available and replaced by the latest model at no additional cost. Throughout the whole day, the installation process was explained and questions were patiently answered. The AC system has run smoothly during its first week of 90 degree heat. Our indoor temperatures for our first and second floors are more consistent. We have signed up for Pure Climate's Annual Service Maintenance Agreement to continue receiving this ongoing service level and extend the labor warranty. I will add my thumbs up to the many positive reviews. I called on a Wednesday to fix a leaking humidifier, check a furnace that was short cycling, and check the thermostat. It wasn't an emergency, so we scheduled for Monday. Chris arrived about half an hour early and had all the items marked off within an hour. He took the time to answer all my questions and explain the issues from a clearly knowledgeable background. He also gave me information about a Com Ed automatic rebate program on new thermostats that will save me $75, and recommended their top choice. I will have them do the routine maintenance on the AC in the spring and furnace in the fall. Very happy with the professional service, and the pricing is fair. read more

My central air died sometime in the night on July 3rd. I woke up on the 4th thinking I was just having internal heating problems, but a check of my thermostat said it just wasn't me this time. :D I hit up Yelp and found Jim at Pure Climate - he responded within 10 minutes of me messaging him and told me he could be out in about an hour - WOOHOOO!!! He even gave me a quote which I know for sure didn't include a holiday surcharge, as it was extremely reasonable. Update the next day: June 15th 2022 The next morning after the tech did a A/C tune up, the A/C stopped blowing cold air. Keep in mind, the A/C is new, purchased in the winter. Since moving to this home just 1.5 months ago, I have not had any issues with the A/C. When the tech left, he said there were no issues and that everything looked fine. Due to extreme heat and unavailability of techs, the owner Jim, volunteered to come out right away. This was a good display especially with the extreme heat advisory. Jim found the issue right away. The "contact" short circuited. Jim showed me the burnt part on the part. When I asked why this was not caught during the check up the day before, Jim agreed it should have been caught by the tech and noted that he'll charge me less for replacing the part. I'm skeptical how much I'm actually saving since at one point in the conversation he says he'll charge less than $200 for replacing the part, but ends up charging me $200 anyways and subtracting the $30 overcharge the tech did on the install of the thermostat netting out to $170 in charges for the 2nd visit. There were also some questionable practices during the visit with the tech that I will not mention to keep this review succinct. I am now out $389 ($219 A/C tune up and ecobee install + $170 Fix work incorrectly done by their tech the prior day) and was in a better position before they did work on my A/C unit unfortunately :(. Since I had to go through the headache of fixing this part and poor attitude and service from the tech, I would give them 2 stars to be honest, however, am adding a star since the ecobee theromstat is still working and the prompt response and good communication from the owner. Review from June 14th, 2022. Spoke to owner on phone for installing bathroom exhaust. He told me they do not do the work, but told me the work they do which I happened to need as well. He provided helpful information and was personable. Based on the good impression from the call decided to contract their services for A/C tune up and installation of ecobee thermostat. Since appointments can run over, it took a couple reschedules to get to my place. Once they arrived work was taken care of with no issues. What do you do when you live in Chicago in February and your heat stops working? Pray to God or Ditka and hope for the best? Within 5 minutes of my heat cycling like it was going to go on but never actually igniting (and this is a furnace that is only 6 years old), I looked for the highest rated HVAC company and came across Pure Climate. I wrote them saying my heat was out and I think Jim wrote back in 2 minutes. He said he could get someone out right away. Chris came and basically it was as simple as that we needed a cleaning, which he did. I won't say their price but it was extremely reasonable. Now, he could have said this is some major problem and it's going to be $2,000 and I wouldn't know but he didn't. Chris was also very knowledgeable and friendly.
