Both of my children attend The Children's Workshop in Smithfield. My oldest has attended since she was a year old and my youngest has attended since he was three months old. I genuinely like all of the teachers at the school, including the Director Miss Kristin and assistant director Mr. Brent. I'm going to focus this review on the infant teachers because, as mom, I find myself most worrying about my baby. Since my daughter had already been in many of the classrooms when my son started, I was VERY confident that I was leaving my new baby in great hands when I had to return to work. The head teacher Miss Laura was the same head teacher than my daughter had so I was familiar and very comfortable with her. My son had colic during his first few months and a milk protein sensitivity. When I explained all of this to Miss Laura she listened carefully and that gave me reassurance that my son would be properly cared for. After about a week, one of the other infant teachers Miss Brianna, showed me a new way to hold my son that helped calm him down when he was colicky and in pain. My husband and I will forever refer to this as the "Brianna hold". All three teachers (Miss Laura, Miss Kailey, and Miss Brianna) show a personal connection with my son and my older daughter even though she isn't in their class. We have been working on teaching my son to crawl lately. By "we" I mean me, my husband, my daughter (she's a great big sister helper!), and all three teachers. Earlier this week, I saw a video that they took for me of my son Army crawling!! One of the special parts about this video, which they may not have even realized, was how involved and excited all three teachers were! One was holding the camera, one was on the ground and encouraging my son to reach and crawl for a toy, the other teacher was on the sidelines with another baby and cheering on my son. All three were giving him the encouragement he needed to work on this new skill! The Children's Workshop isn't just a day care. Even at this early age, TCW is an educational institution working with our children to help them grow to age appropriate milestones! We even get reports home each month explaining which milestones my son reached and what he goals are for the next month: holding his own bottle, feeding himself food, learning how to use utensils or a sippy cup, crawling, walking, waving, etc. These teachers aren't just "teachers". They are friends and caring adults who I trust completely to help my son grow mentally, physically, and emotionally! read more

My 3.5 year old son had never been in "school" or daycare before, but he hit a learning stage where we knew he would benefit from being in school. He was not 100% potty trained, which limited our options, and I really wanted him somewhere that would follow a stricter curriculum than just your average daycare. We looked at several schools in the area and quickly settled on Cadence Academy. In this time of pandemic, it was a little scary for me to let my baby go to school for the first time, especially since I couldn't even go into his classroom, but the administrators and teachers have been amazing in making me feel like I can ask them of anything. Everyone is very communicative with me, even in times when their internet is down. My son is BEYOND excited when we get to school and he sees Ms. Ruth & Ms. Tanya, and he usually has a fit when I come and pick him up because he doesn't want to leave his friends. We started out at 3 days a week (for my comfort as well as his) and quickly needed to go to 5 days when he spent one off day telling me no less than 10 times that he wanted me to take him to his school. His teachers are absolutely LOVELY and send regular reports throughout the day, what toys he plays with during center time, what their intended lesson plan is that day, what food he eats (or doesn't eat), if he takes a nap, etc. AND they got him to be more regularly potty-trained! When we moved to northern RI almost 4 years ago, I was really nervous about finding a new daycare for our kids (less than 1 and 3). Then we found Cadence (TCW at the time) and a lot of the anxiety I felt melted away. We've been there since. My oldest, now in elementary school, still returns to cadence for winter/spring break camps and summer camp. My youngest has moved through all the rooms and is currently in PreK with plans to attend Cadence's kindergarten program in the fall. I can say without doubt that the teachers honestly care for my kids. For their health, well being, and happiness. My kids love their teachers, and I feel so comfortable leaving them in their care. The curriculum is wonderful and I feel my kids are learning at an age appropriate level throughout the programs. The Director, Tanya, and Associate Director, Ruth, are both always available to answer questions and are super accommodating. I cannot recommend Cadence Academy - Smithfield enough! read more

We are so grateful that our daughter is able to attend Cadence Academy. We recently moved to RI and were fortunate to be able to enroll our toddler here and the transition has been extremely smooth. The staff are very kind-hearted and welcoming, which put us all at ease the minute we entered the building for the first time. We know that when we drop our daughter off that she is going to receive a nurturing, safe, and enriching environment to learn and grow from teachers and staff that genuinely love the little ones in their class. The learning opportunities they provide through play are creative, stimulating, and so fun for the kids! They have also been very accommodating and flexible with us as far as returning to day-care following the shutdowns due to COVID, working with us to find a new schedule that will work for our family. Our experience with Cadence has been nothing short of exceptional in every way. The Director and staff continually pour themselves out to support each student and understand that not all children are the same. An approach that might work for one student may not work for another, and they invest themselves wholly into figuring out what approach is most successful for your child. As a parent of a high-energy 4yo who has struggled to keep his cool when frustrated/upset, I would carry incredible anxiety to work each day worrying about his behavior at school. But the staff at Cadence has supported our family from day one. They recognize that you can't boil the ocean in one day and were willing to put in the time and communicate with us openly to find solutions that suit his needs. They love him, build his self-esteem, and have taught him so much about self-regulation of feelings/body when he's struggling. As a parent, I couldn't ask for anything more. read more

Both my sons have attended TCW Smithfield, the youngest is going into his 4th year now, and I have been very happy with the staff and facilities both. Their summer program too has tons of fun day trips, and activities and they are super flexible for my ever-changing schedule. I couldn't be happier and everyone that works there is attentive, friendly, and helpful. They provide the structure and consistency preschoolers need, and as they transition into the school-age program they are given even more responsibility, which older kids enjoy. They make me and my boys feel appreciated and special, and it really means a lot. The ability to have my kids picked up and/or dropped off from their elementary school is also a huge plus and they have extremely safe and reliable transportation. I highly recommend Cadence Academy Preschool in Smithfield, RI. My 2-year-old boy loves this school. I already see a lot of improvement in all aspects of his development. The staff is warm and caring and the facilities are good. Good thing is they also include meals in the tuition fee which is very convenient when both parents are working. There are also lot of development activities that happen daily to keep my kid busy and engaging. I'm really amazed by the way they are able to handle everything so well even during Covid times. The Kid reports app is one more good thing which is always up-to-date with all of your kid's activities (includes pics and videos as well). Cadence Academy has been such a wonderful place for our family. It's a great thing when your child doesn't shed a tear at drop off because they have so much fun at school! The teachers are wonderful and caring, and they truly love the kids they care for. Some of have many years of experience (which is so rare for a daycare/preschool) while others who are newer are pursuing degrees in early childhood education to really perfect their careers. Cadence has taken COVID precautions very seriously and it shows. There has been no spread within the school since it reopened in June. We're so glad we found this great place so that we can get our work done with peace of mind that our kids are learning, happy, and loved. read more

Cadence has been a place we can call not only our place for care, but a home! All the staff here are simply amazing and care so much for the children. They are patient, dedicated, comforting and make learning fun with their curriculum. My little one had a tough transition and they were able to make her feel secure and safe everyday. She graduated pre-k not wanting to leave school and with a huge smile on her face, giving hugs to everyone. If that's not the best feeling I don't know what is. We are back again for Summer Camp! We love Cadence Academy and have been attending here since my daughter was 3 years old, she is now 6. When my daughter entered into kindergarten last year her teacher was impressed over all the things she already grasped educationally and I owe it to the teachers at Cadence who work tirelessly to make their learning environment fun and interactive. I couldn't recommend the school enough. We love the directors Miss Tanya and Miss Ruth. Also a major shoutout to the school age summer camp head honcho Miss Lily. I can not rave about this place enough! The staff is always friendly and ready to go! My girls love going to "school", they have made so many new friends and come home with the best projects! My yongest has many speech issues, her 2 preschool Jr. Teachers help her practice her sounds and comunicate what she needs. My oldest is in school age, she has come out of her shell so much since being in there, the staff is always engaging with them and not just sitting around watching them. As for the admin. Again, always smiling and helpful. They know our kids not just by name but their personality. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

The long awaited moment finally arrived last month, and our son was ready for pre-school. Being the crazy Virgo that I am, I researched schools, read reviews, asked lots of questions to quite a few people and narrowed down my list. My previous career had me in many daycare centers over the years and I continuously found myself wondering how I could ever leave my future baby there. I'm thrilled to share our good news! This school is AMAZING. To the teachers and staff it isn't just a job. To the families they serve it isn't just a place we drop off our kids. It's a family. I do not have one bad thing to say about this school. Before my son was old enough to go to school I researched different schools for at-least 6 months and I finally chose them. I am SO glad I did. I use Cadence Academy as backup care for my children when my spouse is unable to care for them. I work at Achievement First and it is a service provided through Bright Horizons. It was hard to get in with a daycare initially, but as soon as Cadence Academy accepted my request, we had consistent daycare whenever we needed it! My 5 year old loves daycare and is so happy with the other children and teachers. My 3 year old has been taken care of very well. They love the food, and the activities are great for pre-k. I'm really glad we got in with Cadence Academy. read more

Our daughter has been going to TCW since she was an infant, she's now in preschool (she's 3) and she loves it! All of the teachers have been absolutely amazing and she has learned SO much. What they are teaching the kids is above and beyond what I imagined. They send home daily progress reports tailored to each child, send pictures and videos throughout the day, and give a quick report at the end of the day. I enjoy bringing my children here at Cadence in Waltham. The location is very convenient as I work minutes away from the school. Both my children's teachers are wonderful. My daughter started here about a month ago. The staff are friendly and you can tell they all actually care about the children and their jobs. The building is really nice and clean, the outdoor areas are large and used often. It's a huge comfort to drop my daughter off and not have anxiety about whether or not she is safe. My daughter loved coming here and she misses it since our move to California. She would still be here if we were back in Rhode Island. They truly put a lot of effort into their art programs with the toddlers. I can tell when she comes home all of the different skills that she learned while she was there.
