Cades frozen custard is always a place I go when I want something sweet especially something cold and sweet. I went today and the line was a little long but really moved fast. I ended up parking and going in and it was much faster. I got a small vanilla custard with M&M's and it was VERY good! The custard was thick but creamy and every scoop of custard had M&M's in it which I loved. Definitely will be back at this place to try some other items I saw on the menu! read more

Service and food were great! The girl working took her time to explain what we were ordering to make sure we still would want it. My only complaint is if you go inside, you can tell the building is damaged. A lot of water damage and mold on the ceiling tiles. But the three young girls kept the place as clean as they could! I ordered the strawberry sno-ball with cream. I could have used a lot more cream on my sno-ball. I was pretty disappointed because the ice was pretty big and had a really icy texture. Definitely not good sno-ball ice. I don't know if I caught them on a bad day, but I wouldn't go back. If you're wanting a sno-ball, I'd recommend going somewhere else. read more

Oh my Lord, I love their malts, however this visit was horrible. The girl had a very big attitude when I complained about the malt being runny. Her reply, "it's got milk in it" very rudely. Attitude got worse throughout the exchange. Happens that she is the daughter of the owner. She called him and he apologized for her behavior, however she did not seem to care at all. That's a damn shame that a local business has rude workers. Makes me want to take the trip to Baton Rouge for a chain custard place. I wound up getting a refund, which she tried to short me on! It's been a good while since I've visited Cade's, to the point that I forgot what my favorites on the menu were entirely. One of the employees, "Kaylee," saw me struggling to decide and offered to recommend me some "beginner orders" to consider. I went with the chocolate malt, which she had ready for me much quicker than I'm accustomed to at other establishments. Cade's has been around for as long as I can remember. It's not just your typical ice milk (which isn't even real ice cream, but don't get me started) and toppings spot--they make REAL thick, creamy and delicious custards that you can add just about any ice cream topping you can imagine to in order to concoct your very own "concrete" treat. If you're easily overwhelmed with all the options, they have a slew of suggestions on their menu of what works well together. One of my personal favorites is the Mint Chocolate Chip. I get it with chocolate custard instead of the vanilla and have them add in crushed Oreos to the Ande's mints that are already mixed in. Delicious! They also have snowballs that they sell a lot of. Huge plus is the drive thru and that they take debit/credit cards, so you don't have to worry about having cash on you. Very relaxed place with minimal seating (most take it and go) and it's typically run by high school aged kiddos. Service could improve a little, but for them being so busy, I understand all the rushing they do! Give them a whirl if you're in Gonzales! Must try!! read more

All I can say is........Go to Cade's Frozen Custard. I am not a huge dairy fan but this is an exception. At first glance you may think it's just an average ice cream shop. It is so much more!! I normally get a kiddie size vanilla with cake mix added in. It is AMAZING! This visit I decided to get chocolate with chocolate cake mix added in. Definitely my new favorite. It taste like frozen brownie batter! Don't be fooled by the sizes. A little goes a long way. I would suggest kiddie or small size. It is great but filling. read more

Dropped by here 10 mins before closing on a Saturday night and the drive through lane still had several cars and inside had three groups. The girls were friendly even though we were keeping them from closing, I ordered a small birthday cake and my husband ordered mint chocolate chip. I thought mine was really good and creamy! Although half way through, it was almost too much, next time I'm gonna go for a kiddie size. My husband's wasn't really that minty... but still pretty good. We were at the Cajun Nationals and wanted some ice cream. This place came highly recommend via the reviews for ice cream. Since the only other option was chain stores we decided to give them a try. Glad we did. They do what is called blends. They have different custard flavors, you pick from those then add nuts, syrups, candy bars, etc. kinda like DQ does with their blizzards. Don't get me wrong, it was good. Very good. It was almost closing time but the two young girls working there didn't rush us. Everyone should give this place a try. read more

I fell in love with frozen custard years ago and it is really hard to find unless you live in the land of Culver's... so I am STOKED that Cade's exists. I prefer frozen custard over soft serve, gelato, fro-yo, and most ice creams any day of the week. It is thick and rich and not insanely sweet. If you have not tried it, I recommend you give it a shot. You can order vanilla or chocolate custard and choose your mix-in(s). Then, instead of folding the mix-ins into the custard (like Cold Stone), they use a mixer (kind of like a DQ Blizzard). They have a good number of mix-ins, from fruits and candies to nuts and syrups. They also have a lengthy list of favorites. Hubby and I ordered the Apple Pie a la Mode (vanilla custard with apples and graham cracker) and Chocolate Cherry Crunch (vanilla custard with cherries, chocolate syrup, and pistachios). They were both crazy awesome. Cade's has become my go-to spot when I need a frozen treat. read more

Went to Cade's the other day, asked for a small cheesecake waffle cone 2 scoops. $4.65, when the girl handed it to me, I looked and as was totally amazed. The custard didn't even fill the cone (2 scoop waffle mind you). I don't mind paying money for what I get but this was ridiculous. Told the girl I did not want it, refund my money. She did, dropped the change on the ground and looked at me like say something.... Went to Sonic, got an oreo cone, twice the size (couldn't eat it all) for $2.71. Just got my "ice cream and snowball". Ice cream was melted to the point of being a malt. Snowball had clumps of solid ice and very little juice. This place honestly needs to close and let a business that actually cares about quality to flourish. Just close down because this shit is horrible. read more
