We were in the area visiting and looked up on yelp & found this cafe. Located in a middle of a very small town on the corner. Blink and you will miss it. Small cafe with plenty of parking. Upon entering immediately greeted and seated. Ordered breakfast and received food fresh, hot. Food delicious except potatoes are in chunks and a tad hard. We did ask for well done but still receive tad uncooked potatoes. Recommend smaller pieces to complete cooking. Salsa homemade was delicious including refried beans. No internet service. No cell service in this area. Customer service was very good. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

The best smoked salmon chowder Ive had, and the Putene, was real potatoes and gravy. We will go back for more!

Big menu, solid breakfast. Can't go wrong but the skillet took the cake here I think. Staff was very friendly and it's a cute little spot. Great for some brunch!

I loved that the tuna melt automatically came with lettuce, onions, and pickles. And delish onion rings!

We loved Cadillac Cafe and will definitely be back! They have Mexican breakfast items, mimosas and HUGE micheladas, a solid tuna melt and clam chowder, onion rings, great service, and are open until 3 pm! All that equals IDEAL BRUNCH PLACE!!! I have a rule when I'm on the coast: If there's clam chowder on the menu, we order a cup. This one was very good. Everything--the clams, potatoes--was diced very finely, which was different, but not in a bad way. I think it made everything more evenly distributed. I don't miss the huge chunks of potatoes you find in some clam chowders, but I do miss the whole clams. Not sure what that red spice is (paprika, tajin)? It was seasoned well and not salty. Best part: Only $3.50 a cup! Phil's in Castroville still has the best clam chowder IMO, but this one made it high on the list!

I almost drove right past this place because it's a true hole-in-the-wall, but once I saw the parking lot full of people I knew that was a good sign. Walked in and the place was lively, full of locals, old-school vibe, and the bartender was awesome. I was starving and ordered the steak, chicken and shrimp plate. Bro... that skirt steak was ridiculous. Everything tasted fresh, even the fries and coleslaw were way better than I expected. Big portions too, and they even throw in a little piece of chocolate cake which cracked me up, but somehow fit the whole vibe perfectly. The food was so good I came back the NEXT DAY for lunch and got the New York strip. I was still chasing that skirt steak from the night before but the NY strip was fire too. You can tell this place takes care of its regulars and actually cares about the quality of the food. No fancy BS, just good people, great food, big portions, and a legit local atmosphere. It isn't trying to be overly trendy or fancy, and the emphasis on local ingredients and the Pajaro Valley gives it some character. My partner had the Mediterranean pasta with grilled chicken, and our son had the steak dinner with fries and vegetables. I ordered the evening special, which was cheese tortellini with prawns in a creamy sauce. Everything was very good, and the portions were generous. They also brought bread to the table before dinner and kept us supplied during the meal. We had a bottle of Alfaro Pinot Noir with dinner. It was a good local wine and paired nicely with the meal. We also appreciated seeing local wines represented on the menu. We finished by sharing the crème brûlée. It was quite tasty and considerably larger than we expected... definitely enough to share. The service was a real highlight. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and prompt throughout the meal. Since we were visiting the area, he also took some time to share a few local tips, including where to find some particularly good sausages and meats. It was a nice personal touch and added to the experience. Overall, California Grill was a very good find in Watsonville: good food, generous portions, excellent service and a nice connection to the local agricultural community. A solid four-star experience, and somewhere we'd be happy to visit again.

We like to support local family run businesses and the food has been good in the past. The wait staff are consistently friendly and mostly competent. We've been pleased that when asked about gluten-free options each time, the waiters know about 90% of the menu off the top of their heads and aren't afraid to say they need to ask the kitchen when there's an item they're not sure about, rather than guess the answer, as has happened at other restaurants. Saturday we had a group of 8 that were seated at 4:45, so not exactly rush hour. We finally had to ask for water after 15 min. It was close to an hour from when we placed our orders before the food began arriving. I had informed the waiter of an onion allergy and requested no onions anywhere on the plate, as well as subbing extra veggies for the pasta. My food arrived with onions throughout the veggies. While I appreciate that they quickly took the plate back to fix it, the new plate had only a single serving of veggies which were so undercooked that even with the steak knife if was difficult to cut, and not great to chew either. I quickly gave up and saved it to finish cooking at home. Another guest ordered the tuna fresh catch rare, and it arrived between medium and medium rare, which was quite disappointing. But at least his veggies were closer to al dente. Another small irritation was that they brought out bread and olive oil, but there were only 5 pieces for our group of 8 so we asked for another one for our end of the table, and they charged us. While we recognized many staff as longtime employees, both the food and the service didn't live up to previous visits, which is even more disappointing because we brought new people to experience their food. Given this experience, it'll probably be awhile before we go back.
