The pointed out where we could grab the menus. I heard their sandwiches were big & flavorful, so I shared with my 10 yr old. We got the NEPTUNE sandwich ($17), with picked onions on the side, as she doesn't enjoy them. We both really loved it. She said she kinda wished we didn't share. But she didn't know if she could finish another half. It had: Oven Roasted Turkey, Basil Pesto, Provolone, Sun-Dried Tomato Aioli, Arugula, Marinated Cherry Tomatoes, Pickled Onions, Fresh Basil, Rosemary- Garlic Aloli on Toasted Francese Roll Husband got the brisket chili. Didn't have an insane amount of beans. But it did have corn. It didn't take just like bbq, it did still taste like Chili. He really enjoyed it. Grandma got the black and blue sandwich. It was really good. I would try that next time. Several sandwiches looked delicious. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend. Love a small & local business like this. They have quality ingredients & great flavors.

I think you can make the wrong choice on your 1st/2nd/3rd visit depending on your taste, but I also think you should come back and you'll absolutely find something that 100% tickles your pickle. I've tried most of their hot sandwiches: - Noni's Pesto Chicken: this is one of my favorite sandwiches of all time. It's not very complex but for some reason the combination of flavors just is *chefs kiss*. 5* for this alone, don't fight me - Surf City Philly: can be surprisingly spicy, heavy but SO good. This is my third favorite. - Chicken Cowabunga: not that great, would skip, but I also have a whole website on fried chicken sandwich rankings so I'm picky - Vulcan Mind Melt: sounds so good on paper but it's just heavy. I would skip - Crispy Cod Wrap: I've had a bite or two of this and I thought it was pretty good but not that memorable - Pork Belly Banh Mi: this was good, and I don't usually like pork belly - Chipotle Chicken Club: also kinda heavy but I really enjoyed this! This is my second favorite. - Cubano: not particularly memorable Not a sandwich but Beer Barnacles: ugh I enjoyed this more often than I should have, sorry not sorry. 5*

I had a pastrami sandwich there once before and it was pretty good, so figured this would do. Ordered the burger combo with Lentil soup. Asked for my burger medium and when it came out it was well past that and I'm pretty sure it was a frozen patty. I have frozen patties I cook at home that are great, so guessing it just wasn't very good quality to begin with. The lentil soup was flavorless and I only had a few bites before tossing out. Seasoning, a ham hock, and some aromatics would do a lot for this soup. Left feeling very disappointed as there are a bunch of more satisfying options in the area and I chose the wrong one. As I was sitting in traffic, my stomach started feeling like I ate some broken glass or something. Obviously there wasn't broken glass in the burger, just a fitting analogy. I had stomach pains for the next few hours. This is all I had eaten in like 10 hours, so I'm positive it was the burger. The woman at the counter was friendly and the place was pretty clean. I've got a pretty iron gut and it takes a lot to make it turn. Don't think I will be going back.

I get that it's beach time and things move at a different pace, but being a little nicer to customers and visitors would make a big difference. Hopefully next time the service will be as good as the food. EDITED - Saturday, June 20, 2026 I'm updating my review after reading the owner's response. First, I want to clarify that the response appears to be a copy-and-paste message aimed at people leaving negative reviews. If you had actually read my original review, you would have noticed that I never complained about the food, the wait time, prices, staffing, or anything related to the quality of the business itself. In fact, I enjoyed the food and had no issue waiting. I visited on a Thursday, and the café wasn't packed. The owner was clearly working hard, and I respect that. However, when I walked in and said hello, I was completely ignored. There was no greeting, no acknowledgment, and no sense that my business was appreciated. That was the only reason I left a 3-star review in the first place. The response talks about staffing shortages, minimum wage, food costs, and the challenges of running a small business. I understand all of that. Running a business is difficult. But those challenges don't really address the point I was making. A simple "Hi," "Welcome," or even a quick smile costs nothing and goes a long way. I also don't think customers should be made to feel responsible for business challenges such as labor costs or rent. Those are realities of ownership that every business owner has to navigate. That said, after thinking about it, I'm changing my review from 3 stars to 5 stars because the food was genuinely good, and I do support small businesses. My hope is simply that future customers are greeted with a little more warmth and appreciation when they walk through the door. One final thought: when someone leaves a critical review, it may be worth responding directly to their experience rather than posting a generic response. Sometimes there's valuable feedback hidden inside reviews that aren't really about the food at all. I wish you and your business success, and I genuinely hope you continue serving great food for years to come.

Just hop in line, grab a ticket, wait to be called to order, then head to the next register to pay! The place has that classic, old-school sandwich deli feel, warm and inviting. There's also outdoor seating, which is perfect if you want to catch some sun and enjoy your food. We originally found this spot on Yelp (and saw it all over TikTok), so expectations were definitely high and it didn't disappoint. My wife and I were on the hunt for the perfect beach sandwich, and this was exactly that. I went with the chicken parmesan sandwich... and wow. The cheese pull alone was worth it!! We took our food to the beach, paired it with a cold adult beverage and some BBQ kettle chips, and it absolutely hit the spot. Definitely a place worth checking out if you're in Santa Cruz and craving a solid sandwich.

The very next day, we ordered the exact same thing, and they came on what looked like half a slice of bread. There was absolutely no consistency in the portion size. To make matters worse, we were charged $16 for two kids' grilled cheeses on the second visit, yet the day before we paid only $10 for what appeared to be a larger portion. Paying more for less made no sense. What was most disappointing, though, was the customer service. The employees were incredibly rude and acted as if we were an inconvenience instead of paying customers. Rather than answering our questions or addressing our concerns professionally, they were dismissive and made us feel unwelcome. We gave this place a second chance, hoping our first experience was just an off day, but it ended up being even worse. Between the inconsistent portions, confusing pricing, and poor customer service, we won't be returning and can't recommend this place to others.

That was a fantastic suggestion. The vibe was incredibly chill, much like you would find at the beach and the tables were fashioned like wooden surfboards. You Go to the counter to order and then they bring the food to you. The staff was very friendly and very beach-like. They had a great menu and choices of cold or hot sandwiches, munchies, happy hour foods, and salads. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice we did go a little between dinner and lunch in the afternoon but there were still quite a few people milling around. It was very clean and each booth was separated so you could hear yourself talk; it wasn't an open floor plan. There was outdoor seating as well, which was more of an open floor plan. The food was great. They had many different sizes of sandwiches. We got the three-inch, which was more than enough for us. I got the three-inch Santa Cruz, it's a cold sandwich, but there was very little fat on the pastrami. I also got a cup of clam chowder which had a little bit of bacon on top of-fantastic. The sandwich was fantastic and just the perfect size for a soup and salad combination. My wife got the skinny dipper just without mayonnaise and onions, but it had Au jus on the side. She said it also tasted fantastic and she got the chicken poblano soup. Both soups came with bread, thinly sliced small pieces of bread but they were fantastic with the soup. She had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, and I had one of their specialty beers. In all ohh the meal was fantastic. Couldn't have asked for a better spot in downtown Santa Cruz you've got to try this, it is fantastic, the food is great, the prices are reasonable and the soups are homemade. The ambience or the vibe as they say nowadays, was very calming. There are other locations. You might want to see if there's one nearer to you, but I can't guarantee it will have the same vibe as Santa Cruz did.
