Ok this place is truly delicious. Im only giving a 4 star because I only tried one dish and ordered takeout. I will definitely be back to dine in or at least order something more or different! The birria meat is soo tasty but my favorite was actually the pork in red sauce! The flavor on the pork is soo good. Really good cook on both meats. The combo tacos come with rice, beans, lettuce, radish, lime, and avocado. A great combo meal at a great price too! Super authentic Mexican food right here in Stanwood WA. I ordered the #8, three street tacos with rice and beans. They let me choose a different type of meat for each taco. I wanted to get a taste of what different meats were like. Service was very prompt and the young person behind the counter was very helpful and polite. I was as surprised to see so many extras included with my meal, shredded lettuce, tomato, avocado, sour cream, grilled onions, sliced radishes, a lime, and salsa. The beans were very savory and flavorful. The rice was mild, when mixed with the beans it was a perfect balance. Would be great in a burrito. The birria taco was tender and juicy with a hint of heat at the end. The pork taco had a lot of heat and was also juicy and tender. The carne asada taco also tender and juicy with less heat than the other two. So much food and it was all delicious. This is mainly a take out place. They have a covered patio with tables and chairs. Prices are incredibly high for what you receive in terms of value. I cannot recommend this place. After visiting a few more times for the Lengua tacos my thoughts have been reversed. These tacos are excellent, and the sauces just bring it up another notch, I fell in love with their avocado sauce today, mind blowingly tasty! Red sauce is super spicy, another green sauce is flavorful. Place is clean and the staff are friendly. This place is much more authentic than the neighboring restaurants. You'll have to excuse the not-so-pretty photos; the bag my takeout container was in was pretty loose so the food moved around on its way home. I want to like this place more because it's a small local restaurant and seems authentic but today's meal was lacking in a few ways. For $17.99, the carne asada plate I ordered barely had any lettuce/fresh salsa/guacamole to go with the meat. There was only one thin slice of avocado. Everywhere else I've been offers substantially more of these garnishes to go with the meat. The meat also wasn't seared enough and was quite chewy, and they don't currently have take out containers available for their hot sauces. Maybe it was an off day for them but I'd likely consider going elsewhere next time I'm in the mood for a carne asada plate. read more

Being from Texas there's two things I will not eat outside of my home state, BBQ and Mexican food. I had tacos del Norte from Taqueria Mi Cocina on a job one day and was instantly hooked. It's by far the best in stanwood, everything is free at. Unless you like bland "beige" food like most of the boring people around these parts or your ok with olives in your salsa. Gross. We really like the food here. Have had good experiences w/ their tacos, tortas and sopas. Food is always fresh and flavorful. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I do think the prices on their combo plates seem to have gone up considerably in the past year or so. That may be out of necessity because of COVID. Only other complaint is the use of all styrofoam plates and plastic utensils. I really don't like the thought of all that waste. Nevertheless, the quality of food will keep us coming back! read more

This is a solid 3.5-star review, and if you're craving Mexican but don't feel like driving any farther than Stanwood, round it up to 4. These guys have a solid menu with lots of dishes you want to eat, and the staff are super nice. On the down side, prices are a little high, and while the food looks good, many of the ingredients are cheaper substitutions. Heading through Stanwood on the main road, these guys have a small old building that they've expanded by adding a covered patio for their dining room. Cement floor, outdoor furniture, and uninsulated walls--but there's a TV and it's fairly comfortable (as long as it's not too muggy). You order at the counter and they bring it out. We tried the chile relleno and the pollo/carne asada. The asada plate was the same size you get anywhere, maybe a bit smaller, and was $17. There were grilled scallions, fresh radishes, some decent pico, and the meat was fine. There was enough to make about 5 little street tacos, but it didn't seem like a $17 plate. Even in downtown Seattle it would be an average deal at that price. The relleno was mostly egg, very little pepper. There was a dusting of white cotija cheese on top, but the tomato sauce was just...canned tomato sauce kicked up with a little spice. Overall it was very ordinary. The crazy thing is how much people love this place. It's a solid choice, but if you skimp on food cost and still charge average prices (or maybe even higher than that), it'd be nice to see a little more depth and freshness everywhere on the plate, instead of just here and there. Still, the flavors are big enough, the ingredients are solid enough, and the staff are more than cool enough. They've earned their status as a big fish in a small pond. I feel a little guilty comparing them unfavorably to other spots, because they could be great with a little more focus on ingredients...and we can always use more great Mexican spots. read more

We absolutely love it here BUT they are never open. Their hours are inconsistent and it's tough to know when to go. It's a bummer because we would go more often if they were open. Everything we've had has been delicious! Please update your hours and your phone recording. Driving 30 minutes just to see if you're open isn't ideal :( read more

Hands down the best Mexican food in Stanwood. It's definitely authentic and not your typical chain restaurant. The Birria and adobada are top notch. First of all, this is not authentic Mexican food. Secondly, they are way overpriced. Had veggie tacos, only got two where other places give three. It lacked flavor - they had a smathering of beans, a bunch of rice, a little Lettuce and some Pico de Gallo. The only good thing was the sauces.
