I'm downgrading my previous three star review to two stars, based on the business owner's snarky response to my review (see photo). Five months ago, on a Saturday or Sunday, my boyfriend and I had lunch at The Baked Cafe. The burgers were good, the buns were mediocre, and the fries were outstanding. The meal was over $40, without drinks. The owner was the only person working. After reading other reviews, we expected a wait, but over a half hour was excessive. There are only two booths, and we were lucky to get one. Because of this, you may end up taking your food to go or eating outside. I left a honest review after our experience, and the owner responded (more like reacted) quite unprofessionally. He mentioned Wednesdays; we were not there on a Wednesday. He mentioned that if we prefer "nutty" (it's Nutty's) or "five guy" (it's Five Guys), that he "felt sorry" for us. Well, I won't feel sorry for him when his business fails. read more

I've had their smash burgers and their breakfast sandwiches all on fresh baked bread and both taste great and are also packed and wrapped to-go by the staff in a thoughtful way that makes getting the food "to-go" a great experience. I think I've reviewed the burger before and maybe the sandwiches but today it's about the tots. Best tots in WA. Cooked to perfection yes but also lightly dusted with some flavorful spices to make it more than just some potatoes. Anyway there's plenty of seating around the bakery we just happen to get things to go on the way off island. read more

Another delicious burger meal here. The staff was helpful in answering my questions and flexible to my couple of burger customizations. Their beautiful, fresh baked buns are generous size. The patties are thin so I recommend to go double patty. Add bacon & cheese while you're at it The fries are sooo good too! Probably hand cut. The skin is on, golden brown, the right amount of crispy outside and soft inside. The seating is limited but we lucked out on a dark, wet Sunday around 1pm. There were more to-go orders. Took a little trip to the island for stormy Drive over the weekend... Stopped into the baked Cafe and had the most wonderful almond croissant I've ever had... My sister ordered the cheeseburger and tots big enough to share with me for a lunch. Smash burgers are the best... staff was helpful and funny...The ladies at the coffee counter truly sweet, we enjoyed our latte and chai tea as we walked through the cute little shop within.. if your ever in the area it's a must try. read more

Oh so good pastries, cakes and pies. Everything you get from The Baled Cafe is out of this world delicious. Gotta get here early if you want the good stuff before they run out. My favorite is the almond croissants I can eat a couple of them on one seating. They also sell chocolate and interesting and unique household items and artwork. The food there was great. The cafe itself was small, but clean. The service was very basic, with no real complaints, other than the gentleman who took our order was not mean, but definitely not friendly either. We felt like he just wanted to take our order and get us out of there. No suggestions on the menu, sides, or drinks, but seemed be in a hurry to get us out of there. He didn't ask us if we were ordering to go or eating there or if we wanted anything else. They packed our food to go. We noticed others had plates in the restaurant area and there was even a bin for them. It was not busy while we were there, in fact we heard one employee tell the other, "it is slow today ". I understand this is not a Michelin star restaurant, but it hurts the experience when you feel like your very presence is a source of annoyance. read more

I stopped by here w my hubby when we came to Camano Island. We decided to have a burger at The Baked Cafe in the Camano Commons Market for lunch. We ordered Pastrami Burger, Pandemic Deluxe Burger, and Fries. Quick & Easy order, super casual food here. There are benches inside and outside the store, so you can sit and eat freely. The first thing that stood out was the generous portion of pastrami and its bold, smoky flavor. It had just the right amount of saltiness and paired perfectly with the juicy beef patty. The bun had a slight sweetness that balanced the savory elements nicely. The pickles and sauce were subtle but added just the right touch, making the whole burger well-rounded and satisfying. A must-try for anyone who loves a meaty, flavorful burger. The Pandemic Deluxe really impressed me. Stopped at the Baked Cafe during our lunch visit - it was fairly busy on a Saturday afternoon. Came to try the pastries only. Purchased the almond Crossiant and the chocolate chunk cookie. Pastries were all really good. The Crossiant was crispy on the outside and flaky in the inside. For the almond filling, thought it was going to be an almond paste filling but it was a cream based filling. Overall, thought the pastries were expensive and overpriced. read more

Stayed on the island for a few days hit this place up for breakfast. So good! Chefs kiss. I got the bacon egg and cheese, there's a type of salsa on it mmmmmm so good. I also saw reviews that said to order the tater tots! And so I did, 10/10 best tots I've ever had! It is a cute little cubby in a little gift store type of building, there's also a coffee shop in the same area of the store. read more

The wait was a bit long (given it wasn't super crowded), but it was worth the wait. The ingredients seemed fresh and we really enjoyed the sausage. Hands down the BEST chocolate croissant I've ever had in the PNW. Flaky, bouncy and lots of Grenache goodness. I would drive there again to eat those fresh delicious pastry! The buns are the perfect topping to their tasty burger. Fries are traditional home fries with skins on. Small cut style with crispy out and soft interior. The BIG surprise is the spicy ketchup!!!! I've given this place a few tries, but I think I'm going to give up at this point. I finally discovered why their sandwiches taste so off. I don't know what they're using as a substitute for mayo on their burgers and chicken sandwiches, but it absolutely ruins them. Mayo is good on sandwiches because it's both a flavor enhancer and an acid. Whatever they're using is more like a gravy. It's sickeningly heavy and makes the sandwich taste overbearing. Their breakfast sandwiches are pretty good, but I really can't justify giving any kind of grade to a place that does sandwiches or burgers but lacks the most basic ingredient for either. The service isn't the worst, but the people (at the burger area) aren't very friendly. It feels like they're annoyed by their customers. The building is pretty cute, but if you want a good area to eat, check out upstairs. read more

We expected a cute Cafe, and instead find a cute gift shop and bakery located in the same building. Regardless of the quirky little spot with a small menu, a counter where you order from the person coming your food, and a few small diner tables, this place is goooood. He had the sausage and egg sandwich; I had the egg scramble sandwich; we shared the seasoned tots. The Baked Cafe was hopping, but the staff handled the lunch rush well. We waited about 15 minutes for our delicious burgers. Hot off the grill, these weren't previously frozen patties. Slightly irregular in shape, they were juicy and flavorful. The cheeseburger we ordered had only a trace of cheese, but other than that, it was great. The pastrami burger came with smokey, delicious pastrami piled high on a big burger. It was some of the best pastrami we've ever eaten. The onion rings were fried to perfection but overly salty. The whole Camano Commons is brilliant. Although a bit crowded inside, all the shops (gift, sweets, ice cream, art studio) are connected. The best part is that the buildings form a ring around a grassy area, keeping the traffic out. We ate in this peaceful cacoon, watching people and their dogs. The food is exceptional. The burgers are on fresh-baked buns with a smash burger style patty. The vegetables are fresh and plentiful. All by itself, the burger is a beautiful sight. The ambiance is a little bit rustic and intimate. There are only three tables inside the restaurant proper. You have a view of the kitchen and how your burger is being made. The cook seemed a little stressed, but not outright unfriendly. I would definitely recommend this business to friends. It's a nice drive out here from whatever direction you are coming. We absolutely loved the sausage breakfast sandwich here - so much so that we came back the next day for the burgers and tots! We loved it all. My guy and I shared the sausage breakfast sandwich and the next day I got the pastrami burger and he got the double cheeseburger - all delicious! The location is a bit confusing but once you're inside you see it's cute! There is some inside seating with a tv and drinks, as well as some outdoor seating options. They make their food from scratch, including the bread for the buns, which really makes them special. The service was quick and the staff are friendly! We were visiting Camano Island over Labor Day weekend while camping, and went back 2 weeks later for more breakfast sandwiches despite the hour long drive. We'll be back! read more

Holy heck this place is as good, if not better, than all these fine folks underneath me have attested to. The smashed burger patty was perfectly seasoned and tasted so fresh, and their baked-fresh-daily buns couldn't be a more perfect vessel. All the right flavours come together for a truly elevated yet still simple burger experience! And don't get me started on their onion rings... possibly the best I've ever had in the US and that's saying a whole lot. Fresh ingredients and made from scratch. That is what I love most about this cafe. The buns are made fresh and so are the burgers. You can taste the difference which is awesome. Small town Washington with New York attitude. Can't beat the fresh everything but if you need a pat on the back for showing up or if you will get upset because something is sold out look elsewhere. OMFG. This is the best place for breakfast sandwiches and burgers. This was our first time and it is the bomb. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches and tater tots. Everything was hot, fresh and delish. The staff all wore masks and were super helpful, professional, and friendly. We also decided to try some raspberry shortbread cookies and chocolates.
