You order at the counter and seat yourself. We ordered a torta with adobada (marinated pork) and carne asada tacos. The food came out pretty fast. And was super delicious. The torta was super juicy and thick. The adobada was well seasoned and delicious. The torta itself comes with lettuce, tomato, pickled jalapeños, and avocados. Super yummy and on par with tortas I've had in Mexico, especially with it being less than $10. The carne asada tacos were also fire. Super juicy and flavorful. Zero flavor. The ceviche was just tomatoes, onion, some chopped shrimp and a little cilantro. I paid essentially for tomatoes, and one tostada. The shrimp dish was more garlic than anything... plenty of shrimp but it had zero flavor- almost as if it had been steamed. Tell me, how does a Mexican restaurant mess up refried beans?! You order your own food at the front but they will bring it out to you. I tried the Birria and some carne asada tacos. Chips and salsa are three dollars extra. The tacos tasted as expected. We have been here before and we like their Menudo. We wanted that today but they ran out. So I order a caldo de Res and my husband order a shrimp cocktail and a asada huarache. We came with a couple people and everyone order separately but we sat together. All our friends got their food and by the time I got my caldo they where all halfway done. My husbands Shrimp cocktail was so bad he said it tasted like water and Clamato juice. We never got the asada huarache, so my cousin went to let the girl in the register but we still didn't get it so we where done eating and I told her to cancel the huarache. The girl has the worst customer service. So disappointed if everything today. We will think twice before going back. After reading all the great reviews I expected a lot better but was very disappointed. The Carne asada torta was a giant mess and the meat was just extremely overcooked and almost burnt. It didn't have much flavor and I had to rely on salsas and sour cream to get me through the meal. A lot of my friends at the table were vegetarian and their lunches were nightmares. Mexican restaurants usually have great veg food but I'm not sure why these guy's don't. All their veg dishes were basically cheese, rice and flavorless beans. I don't think I'd go back here again. I had the Carne Asada plate, which was delicious and reminded me of a home cooked meal! The beans and rice were flavorful (and vegetarian) and the small salad it comes with was super fresh. The best Mexican place in Skagit County! Actually, this place rivals some of the best Mexican food I've had in LA and Chicago. I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican food, especially since there aren't too many authentic places here. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall near a salon and used clothing store so I knew it was going to be good. You walk up to the counter and order your food whether dining in or taking out. I highly recommend you try the aqua fresca which on the day I went was orange. This tasted like juice from heaven. This is probably what the Israelites had when they were wandering through the desert. They also have horchata. The food I had was a combo that I made up: they allowed me to order milanesa and also carne asada. It's not very often that I find a place that serves milanesa, so when I see it, I must order it. The person who took my order was very friendly and she was flexible in allowing me to create my own combo. I highly recommend this place. The rice and beans were also delicious, and I wish I had more on my plate. They also served fresh homemade tortillas. I had flour tortillas and they were delicious. They also brought over four different salsas that were home made. Each of them had slightly different flavors. The one you would think would be the mildest which resembled more of a pico de gallo was actually one of the hottest. I liked the green salsa the best. Would I go back? Heck yes! Followed our Yelp noses and found ourselves at Taqueria La Bamba for a late lunch. This place is amazing, a total hole-in-the-wall magical find that I'd happily come back to again and again. The menu is vast and everything is tasty and served in generous, steaming hot portions. I particularly enjoyed the huarache (thinly fried semi circular dough covered in refried beans, whatever protein you want and smothered in shredded lettuce, tomatoes and queso fresco) and the sopes (more thickly fried dough circles with your choice of toppings). The lengua (tongue) here is the best I've had in the states - soft, tender, and flavorful. The spicy beef is really good as well, as was the grilled shrimp and the beef cheeks. Yum! Most of the meals also come with a generous side of rice and beans and everything comes with 4 different sauces that you can add to your liking. If you're in the mood, I'd also recommend treating yourself to a michelada - they are enormous, refreshing and the most addictive mix of sweet, salty, tangy and savory. Prices here can't be beat and I walk away feeling stuffed and happy every single time. Having spent a few years living in southern CA and visiting Mexico, I'm pretty familiar with the cuisine and if you are looking for legit Mexican food, this is your spot. I've ordered a variety of the menu items, from sopes with lengua to huaraches with spicy beef. The produce (lettuce, tomatoes, etc) is fresh; the rice & beans are hot and hit the spot; and the portions are generous. There are two bonuses here that really make it for me. First, the micheladas taste great and they are GIANT. Second, the home made salsa (hot sauce) on each table is f'ing delicious. Been wanting to try this restaurant for some time, having heard good things. Turns out the good things were true as the food was excellent, a bit of a different take on Mexican food, I loved it. My granddaughter had a burrito that was different from the norm and absolutely delicious. I had Milanesa de Carne, which is a lightly breaded steak with grilled onions. The portions were more than ample and everything was fresh, rice and beans just right. A tray of four salsas is brought to the table with the food, and they are spicy.
