We had lunch today at 18 do Forte de Copacabana, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The wait time was very short -- only about five minutes -- but it was a Wednesday and not a holiday, so I imagine weekends can get much busier. I'd definitely recommend arriving early or making a reservation if you plan to visit on a Saturday or Sunday. The food was excellent. We ordered the Pesto e Burrata, which was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. We also tried the Picadinho Tapajós, and it was one of the highlights: the beans were perfectly cooked, the farofa mix was amazing, and it came with a beautifully prepared egg and fried banana. Such a comforting and authentic Brazilian combination that I'm sure everyone will enjoy. For drinks, the strawberry caipirinha was spot on -- refreshing and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The passion fruit caipirinha also tasted great, although it could have had just a touch more sugar. We also tried the Limoncello Spritz, which wasn't really our favorite, but it may appeal to a different taste. The real star of this place is the view. It's absolutely impeccable -- honestly, there are very few places in Rio (or even in the world) with a setting this beautiful. Having lunch with a direct view of Sugarloaf Mountain feels priceless. Prices were a bit above average, but considering the location, atmosphere, and unforgettable scenery, it was 100% worth it. Highly recommend! read more

One of two cafes inside the Fort. We've lunch at Colombo, and drinks here. It was sunset time. The copacabana Beach looks much calmer. We didn't stay long because I wanted to do the paddle boarding - which I did. The red wine came with corks and they poured me another glass. This cafe sits on an old naval base, so there's a 10 real fee just to enter the area. Trust me, it's worth it, but get here before they open at 10 a.m. By the time they start letting people in, the line is already at least 30 minutes long and moves super slow, especially on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If you're lucky enough to make it in, the setting is incredible. Seating lines the side of the cafe so almost every table has a view of Copacabana Beach, and you get that ocean breeze while you eat. It wraps around to the back where tourists are constantly snapping photos by the historic base and the pier. I did too, of course. I ordered the eggs with bacon, but just a heads-up for anyone coming from the States, bacon here means crispy bacon crumbles, not strips. The best way to eat it is to mix the bacon into the eggs so you get the full flavor in every bite. At first, I tried scooping them separately and it just didn't hit the same. I also ordered toast and at first they brought out little crouton-sized pieces, which wasn't what I was expecting. I asked again and they brought out two big fluffy slices with jelly and that combo was perfect. The portions were huge. I actually forgot I had also ordered a Caesar salad with shredded chicken and ended up taking that back to my Airbnb. It was solid too, fresh and well-seasoned. Service was decent. Not overly attentive, but if you raised your hand or asked for anything, they came right away. Prices were fair, especially considering the view and the unique experience. Between the food, the beach view, the historic setting, and the breeze off the water, this is absolutely a spot you need to hit if you're anywhere near Copacabana. read more

The views are worth it, you have to pay the fee for the entrance to the forte which is annoying if you are coming like us, only for breakfast! This is a charming little cafe located inside a still active however for touristic purposes military fort in Copacabana beach area. This cafe is inside the fort so you cannot drive in there unless you are permanent party, visitors have to pay for admission to get into the fort. The fort has a museum and some amazing views to enjoy, as well as some places to buy some momentos from the trip but once you are done doing that sit at the cafe. The best tables are the ones right by the water with an amazing view of the Copacabana beach, overlooking the water and the most beautiful post card view. Just for the place and view it is worth the trip here. The service is not the best, but here in Brazil the tip is included in the bill so service all around town is not the best, specially if you come from a town like NYC you will notice the difference right away. BRAZILIAN WAY- I got this drink that was a mix of cachaca and fruity juices like passion fruit and such. the drink for me personally was a very sour drink, but most people when dealing with passionfruit are fans of that kind of experience, so if you are one of the people who like that tangy punch, this drink is for you. remember to keep your straw off the cup while not drinking, the straws in Brazil now are paper straws and they will get all saggy and sad if left in the drink for a long time. INCRIVEL BOLO GELADO DE COCO- this is a cold coconut cake that comes with a sauce on the side, the sauce is warm and makes a bit of change on the experience of the cake, the cake was indeed pretty incredible just like said on its name, it is definitely worth the try if you come here for a dessert. The coffe here is pretty. good too, I did have any but my friends did and they were pretty amazed. Again, the service is not the best, we did wait a long time after the food and drinks came to get ahold of the waiter for our check, it seems like that in Brazil the wait staff will not be coming back to your table once all meal is been served, you need to wave them over after meals are served, I am not quite sure why. This was a great find in Copacabana. It's on the grounds of the Copacabana fort and feels like a little getaway from the action in the main part of Copacabana. It's important to note that each person in your party needs to pay an admission fee to the Fort to dine here (5 or 6 Reais I believe). It's totally worth it because you get a wonderful view and can visit the fort and museum. I ordered the seafood moqueca and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The coconut cake was also very good. The food was higher quality than I expected from a small cafe on a historical site. Even if you only go for coffee, the view is well worth it, particularly at sunset. read more

Perfect way to end the day! Went to another cafe just a few stores down early in our trip and on our last day we decided to come here and WHAT A GREAT CALL! Amazing view of the beach & cityscape, outdoor or indoor seating and you can either do a full meal or snackies. The Brazilian Drink (aka pink pepper and i THINK passion fruit) alcoholic beverage was AMAZING and i got two. Risotto was fantastic and we also ordered fried tapioca (which was so good and I would originally been hesitant to order as it doesn't sound SUPER great but it was) and Coxinha! Must Must Must go! I visited here in the afternoon and loved their drinks and lunch options. The view is amazing and so was the food! Would recommend to anyone coming here. There is an entry fee of 6 rials but it's worth it. Enjoy the museum, fort and view of ocean with turtles. read more
