Went for Dinner Food - 3/5. Their beef tartare is amazing! At first glance, it looked too smooth and I was worried about a lack of texture. The first bite revealed that a healthy amount of finely diced cornichons were mixed into the tartare, creating a delicious crunch to pair perfectly with the smooth beef. The beef itself was fresh and the density created a full, rich flavor. Seasoning was perfect and the cornichons added a bit of tartness that elevated the tartare's flavor. I've never seen smoked duck breast served alongside beef tartare, and got pleasantly surprised with how well it worked. The harder texture and strong flavors of the smoked duck was a perfect fit for the tartare. The aged Parmesan performed a similar role and the basil sauce gave it an earthy tone. Unfortunately, the other items were disappointing in comparison. French onion soup was way too light. There was a lack of the deep sweetness from well caramelized onions and the stock had no depth. The cheese felt too heavy due to the weak soup, making it a chore to eat. The grilled beef, which appears to be a flank steak, was mediocre in flavor. The beef itself lacked taste, had weak seasoning, and was on the tough side. Shallot sauce was too mild, only having a bit of sweetness for flavor. It was way too light to pair with an already lackluster beef. Fries were fantastic being a beautiful golden brown, crispy with a soft interior, and seasoned perfectly. Service - 4/5. Very friendly and welcoming service. The area attracts an equal amount of tourists and locals, resulting in crowds, even on the weekdays. Despite how busy they were, service was attentive and food came out promptly. Staff spoke in perfect English and explained the menu well. Value - 4/5. It is worth a visit just to try their beef tartare with basil, priced at 21€. The beef tartare itself came in a large portion and was accompanied by a big bucket of fries. Most entrees are similarly priced in the 20€~ish range. I would skip the French onion soup as the quality was lacking, especially for its 13€ price tag. While some of their menu items could have been better, the beef tartare's quality showcased that they do have the culinary expertise for great dishes, making me optimistic about their other selections. We have now eaten at this place a couple times. It super convenient to our accommodation, but we keep coming back because of the Niçoise salad. I love this salad and there's no place like Paris to get one. Well this is by far the best we've had in the city and I love it. This is always a quick stop for a beer and a salad before walking around for hours. The place has such a good location for people watching. The wait staff couldn't be more charming, polite and attentive. We always have gotten good service and good food. I read a few older reviews and am wondering what criteria they are using. Wow, what a find and I can't figure out the low stars. Everything here has been 5 star attitude, service and food. Everything has been excellent. English menus for those of us who don't speak French, English speaking servers who recommend excellent dishes and drinks, plus items to share. Our appetizer, Roasted Camembert with honey and hazelnuts, bacon bits and toast was fabulous the way Brie should be served. Fresh bread throughout the meal, butter upon request. The Bellini Framboise looked excellent and since I only had the raspberries, I thought it was good. My picon biere was delicious and ordered several during dinner. Consider ordering the Aperol Spritz, Aperol, Prosecco, fresh mint and orange, which was very popular among locals as well as Jolie's Filles a Rose is also very popular among locals. Our main dishes were the Ravioles with cream of truffles and fresh mushrooms was superb. My dish, the traditional Beef Bourguignon was excellent, and I would order both again. Came here as a group of 5 around 9:30 pm and were immediately seated. It's on a popular street. The salmon tartar (4.2/5) is tasty. What's nice is that a lot of the items are homemade. It was a bit loud in the actual restaurant and the service is a bit slow but they were friendly. Open late for dinner. It was decent for what we wanted, though honestly not stand out enough to come back anytime soon. read more

We passed by this place and it looks great so we stopped by to try the amazing looking ROASTED CAMEMBERT WITH ROASTED NUTS, HONEY, & BACON... It was gooey and could have been delicious if the camambert had that slight tang of camambert cheese that I love so much but alas this cheese was very mild tasting so the honey overpowered the cheese. The roasted nuts was delicious although I couldn't figure out what kind of nuts they were. It tasted better with the baguette rather than the other bread they served it with. We also got the DUCK BREAST CARAMELIZED with HONEY SAUCE and fries. We've been eating duck every day since we got to Paris and this was just OK. The fries were nothing to write home about (unlike the fries from the steak frites chain Le Relais de L'Entrecôte that were out of this world good). The server was nice and the place had a nice ambience but we have just eaten such great food in Paris that we were just not impressed with this place. They have truffled ravioli so maybe we will change our minds if we come back but that's a big If considering Paris has so many food places for us to try. read more

Bread, Wine and Cheese... that's what I came here for and Cafe Du Center delivered. I have stayed nearby for years and after tonight wonder why it took me so long to come? Free tasty olives with your drink and free Wi-Fi. The guys were attentive, friendly and funny and it was only my first time. I ordered a cheese plate with Camembert, then I noticed they had the Roasted one with bacon, honey and hazelnuts and immediately stopped eating and order that.... perfection!! Into sure about the rest of the menu as I wasn't really hungry but I'm curious about their Onion Soup and I know I can't leave without ordering that cheese again! read more

We were starving and just decided to pop in for a burger. The burgers were good and the service was good for most of our dinner. Then our waiter who spoke perfect English told me I need to speak more French. Everything was fine until he had to open his mouth. I could see the attitude if he didn't speak any English, but most Parisians learn English in school. The city relies on tourism and most tourists speak English too. Meh! My group is still experiencing jet lag so it was almost midnight when we decided we wanted dinner. Cafe du Centre was just a hop, skip and jump away from my sister's apartment and looked promising because 1) it was still open (surprisingly a lot of restaurants close by 11:30 - - at least in this neighborhood) and 2) there were a lot of people sitting, smoking, and vinning on the patio. We ordered the traditional cassoulet (which based on my hours and hours of watching Julia Child as a kid is a French bean stew) which actually turned out to be escargot as an appetizer. Honestly, I've had better in New York. Heck, I've had better in a tiny Vietnamese hole in the wall in Falls Church, Virginia! C'mon peoples. Baguettes were plentiful but on the stale side. My sister ordered the steak tartare which came out in a HUGGGGEEEEEE (obese, American style) portion with a raw egg yolk on top and a side of french fries. I'm a newbz to steak tartare but it was actually pretty good and my stomach is still going strong the next day. As I mentioned, this is a gigantic portion, I don't know how anybody could put away that much raw beef unless they have a side gig as a carnivore. My filet of duck was either the toughest piece of meat I have ever encountered or my knife was super dull. Either way, the cut was too thick and it was devoid of flavor at all. It too, also came with a basket of french fries -- only my french fries were hacked into little one square bits. Not complaining, a pomme frite is a pomme frite and I love my fried potatoes. This place would have been a solid three stars except for the shady waiter who made the whole table feel uncomfortable. I can't really explain it, except he just wafted of Taken like intentions. This little restaurant on Rue Montorgueil was overall decent. The patio outside was full so our group of 6 sat inside instead. It was so hot that it was hard not to get sticky. The service was good, but we didn`t stay too long because we wanted to go somewhere else cooler for drinks. The steak tartare was delicious, tangy and had a raw egg on top. I ate here twice as I am staying nearby and due to late office hours, this was the closest place that still served food past 1130pm. The waiter was really nice and suggested the prawn risotto. I found the risotto be a bit undercooked but the prawn was decent. I came back because of the excellent service I had even though the food that day was underwhelming. The second time I needed a late night meal, I came back with a group of friends. The nice waiter I had was not there and I was stuck with a creepy one . We had tiny escargots and I ordered the beef tartar which looked like raw hamburger meat served with a raw egg on top and fries on the side.. I was originally put off because I am not used to seeing meat prepared that way but it was actually quite tasty and well seasonned. I also did not get salmonella which is a great thing. So what would have happened if we had solely relied on planning to use a credit card for the meal? They should have informed us as we were asking for a table that they couldn't take credit cards that day, or at any point in the meal after they learned it and were checking on us rather than wait for us to ask for the bill. Boo. I understand that technology sometimes goes down, but not having a workaround (like calling in each charge or writing manual credit card receipts)... Boo. Perfect place to have a coffee or beer and people watch- I took a chair with the locals (the waiters and the clientele knew each other- and their dogs- by name) and enjoyed a cafe crème on an overcast Sunday. I made friends with a local beside me, by way of her glorious King Charles spaniel, Dodie. We chatted in my cave man French about the weather, and also about my French. She was most gracious- a grand dame of Paris, perfectly coiffed, sipping Bordeaux at 11 am. The market is nearby and on Saturdays and Sundays, it is full of culinary and gastronomic wonders. The decor made me think it was a chain, sort of similar looking to pret over here. Not a huge deal but made me wary of the possible quality. They have english menu's if you want to lose the enchanting element of not quite knowing what you're ordering on a french menu. Got there in the evening just before a large line formed. I seem to have good line luck this trip. The place was crowded already but they squeezed us onto a tiny table. Friendly service. A bit pricey but as my friend always said "It's Paris, expect pricey!" I came here for breakfast as it was close to the Airbnb I was staying in. It's on a cozy street and they have a breakfast special that consisted of a croissant, some hot chocolate and some bread. The hot chocolate was especially delicious since it was made with rich cocoa. Service was a little slow but I found this was true of many of the places I visited in Paris. read more

Our little home away from home cafe during our trip to Paris. We stayed at an Airbnb just across the street and ate/drank here several times on off times from our itinerary. We thought the food, drinks and service were awesome! The waiter recognized us and was so friendly and helpful over our stay! Over the few days we had the duck filet, cheese plate and burger. We thought they were all pretty good and worthy of the price. If we come back to Paris 10 years from now I hope this spot is still here so we can enjoy it again! In a street packed with cafés and restaurants, I'm glad we chose this eatery. Seated right on the street, it is the perfect location for people watching (one of my favourite past times, especially when overseas). In order to tick my cultural boxes on a short stay, I ordered the cheese platter meant to be shared between a few as an extra. Oh man was I glad I got it for myself! The cheeses were amazing, and the bread had the perfect level of crunch, although it could have done with some more. My friends ordered the goats cheese salad, and basically licked the bowl clean! We had to ask our server three times when the food would arrive and it was always, "it is coming". People who had ordered 30 mins after us got their food. Two of us had ordered burgers. I had asked for medium rare- and the menu advertised special toppings. Burger came out well-done, dry as a bone with none of the extra toppings. When asked about the burger, the server was unapologetic and said the kitchen was very busy. Would have gotten a better burger at McDonald's. I was looking for a nice café to get a bite to eat and read a book since I was by myself. I must have sat there for at least 10 minutes waiting to be acknowledged while guests who arrived after me had already been served their drinks and their orders taken. I am not sure why I was being ignored, but with so many great food options in this neighborhood there was no reason to sit around and wait so long.
