I went there for lunch today and had their special. It was grilled salmon on a warm red potato salad and grilled asparagus. Now, normally I stay away from fish at restaurants as I find they often over-cook it and it gets dry. But I decided to take a leap of faith.... It was AMAZING. The salmon was done perfectly. The potato salad was nice as well and the asparagus wasn't dry or burned. There was a sauce drizzled on the plate that was also really nice. Five stars for the food. My only complaint was the slow service. I was there on a Wednesday at lunch and they were still slow. In the waitress' defense, I used to work in a restaurant and it CAN get a little overwhelming when all your customers come in 4-table waves. I would absolutely come back and recommend this as it is downtown Cambridge and there are lots of little stores you can walk around in that area! read more

Came here for lunch while visiting Cambridge. The food was okay. I ordered the Main Street Salad, but what came out was basically a plate of soggy greens. I managed to finish it with the dressing, which I really should have asked to put on the side as I felt like I was eating the dressing. The Chicken Pesto and fried chicken wings were standard. The male staff member on duty was a bit rude. He put us at a two-person table by the entrance, even though there were still 60% of the tables were empty, let alone they have two patios. One minute after sitting down, I asked if we could switch to the patio since 1) there were lots of tables available, and 2) three of the four two-person groups were already seated at four-person tables. He initially insisted that we stay where we were because the larger tables were for "bigger groups", then eventually was like "If you want to switch, go ahead", but he wasn't happy about it. That attitude really put me off. Oh, and by the time we left, there were even fewer people at the patio. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a lunch spot in Cambridge. Nice Patio - terrible food. Overpriced. Ordered two Caesars, they were fine. Cheeseburger, overcooked and tasteless. Korean Chicken Sandwich - inedible and we sent it back. And incredibly, Nacho's - worst I've ever had. Virtually no cheese and sprinkled with some sort of sauce that overpowered the whole concoction. The Fries were good. And the cost for all of this? Close to a $100. To their credit, they did provide a substitute for the awful Korean sandwich. Maybe they had a bad night? But not a good meal at all. Staff was nice and did their best. read more

Went here for dinner with a bunch of friends. We were a group of 10. I called a few hours ahead to let them know we were coming. They are a new pub in town so we wanted to try them out. The decor was really nice, definitely a step up from the business that used to be at this location. The staff was friendly. That being said, I really wish I could write a review on their food but that would have required me eating some, which I didn't. I have a gluten intolerance so I always check the menu ahead of time or ask the restaurant about gluten free options. It took the owners hours to email me back about gluten free menu options. Luckily I had picked out ahead of time options that I knew I could eat for sure. Upon ordering I was informed that everything that I COULD eat was out of stock with the exception of plain lettuce and edemame. I was pretty disappointed and frustrated. They also didn't have 2 other meals that my friend ordered in stock. They tried to make it right by offering free appetizer cards but let's just say I won't be going back.... I left there with an empty stomach and ended up going to Zehrs for some chicken. read more

I am a self proclaimed food nut. I love to eat and I consistently look for great restaurants. Keep looking past this one. My husband had the dead elephant beer. Very good but not nearly as cold as it should be. Then he ordered the Cajun wings but before he was even done ordering, quickly changed it to the jerk spiced chicken wings. Our server brought jerk chicken breast. (Which was dry and barely tasted of jerk flavouring at all). Instead of politely apologizing for her gaffe, she was rude and belligerent stating "well I heard jerk chicken" (completely leaving out the wings) and just kept repeating herself. Finally, she offered to take it back but we didn't feel like waiting as I only ordered the Asiago and crab tostadas for dinner (which we waited for until the jerk chicken breast was ready and subsequently arrived cold and awful). Our server then offered my husband dessert but he's not a big dessert guy. She walks away. Then she comes back "we can offer you a beer on the house" fine gesture but he was driving so politely declined. We ask for the cheque. She comes back charging us for the jerk chicken breast and says that she "graciously took off 10% of our bill ($4)." The wings were 13.99 and the breast was 19.99. My husband says he wants to pay no more than the price of the wings. She walks away again. She comes back and says "well I did the math and it's cheaper for you if we take 10% off the whole bill". Last I checked, savings of 6$ is better than savings of 4$. Tsking and sighing all over the place she finally agrees to charge for the wings not the breast. We got up and paid and left. Needless to say, she did not receive a tip. Unbelievable and we will not be back. read more

Atmosphere is relaxing and casual. The waitress is very friendly and helpful by checking upon us often enough to have everything we needed. the downfall is that the food was nothing special. Soup was a tad salty and the fries came out to be a little burnt. I expected food quality to be better in comparison with its price but it wasn't and therefore I give it only a two star. read more

The staff just added to our experience. Everybody was so nice and welcoming. It's definitely a pub type atmosphere but the food was rather good. The chef even explained a bit of the dish to us. Our bartender's name was Will and he was very nice and had a passion for the local craft beers on tap. Our bartender got in a bit of trouble for offering me a sample in his efforts to help me make an informed decision. I completely understood but found it very off putting and not very professional to reprimand him within ear shot of us. The food was great and the atmosphere was decent. What really made the place (to me) was the staff. And in my opinion. That's what sets you apart. read more

Enjoyed our meal here with friends after a day in Galt. Decor was recently refreshed making for a very cozy pub atmosphere once lights are dimmed and sun goes down. Service was excellent. I had the chicken breast with risotto. Chicken was a bit dry and bland. Risotto needed salt but was very tasty if not a bit overcooked. My friend ordered the smoked pork chop which was excellent. My first impression of the place was great! Relaxing, cozy atmosphere, with a friendly waitress and awesome-looking menu options. I was so hoping to love the place and to have found a new favourite restaurant, but the food was completely underwhelming. I ordered the Cafe 13 Salad (greens, pears, walnuts, grapes, goat cheese) and tried some of the beef flatbread that my mom ordered (beef, pears, brie, fennel). Both of us were quite disappointed with our choices. The salad had way too much dressing, which hid the flavors of the other ingredients. The flatbread was too thick and under-cooked, quickly becoming soggy and doughy on the bottom, and was just very bland overall. We also found the food to be pricey - the bill was over $50 for three people with none of us being very pleased with our meal. The atmosphere was fantastic, making me want to give the place another chance. I just don't know if the other menu items would live up to my expectations read more

My wife and I went in last Sunday and could not have had a more unpleasant experience. We ordered 2 simple apps and 30 minutes later we inquired as to when they would arrive. Finally after another 5 minutes the nachos were brought out and the server didn't apologize for the delay, but began to justify with an undertone of condescension. When I asked her if she was actually scolding my wife and I as a customer, she became quite nasty. I then asked to speak to a Manager at which point she informed us she WAS the Manager. I then indicated that we wish to pay for our 2 soft drinks and one Caesar prior to leaving. She informed me we WOULD be paying for the food as it was ordered ( while only one item was sitting in front of me that was cold when she brought it out ). It was at this point that she called my wife and I "disgusting". I then dealt with the waitress to settle up ( who was mortified at her Manager's behaviour and provided me with the business card of the owner ) where I paid for the entire order, plus tip for the waitress. As I proceeded to complete this, I was being yelled at by the Manager in front of all the patrons in the bar area. I actually struggled with writing this review as I thought...perhaps she was having a bad day? or perhaps I don't know what she may have going on at that particular moment in her life? But as I read some of the other reviews, it appears there is an issue here. As should be no surprise, we will NOT be back to Café 13 in the future. We love downtown Galt and dine in the core quite frequently. We have told many of our friends of our experience and sadly it is not met with surprise. read more

Went for dinner after the theatre. My partner said 'yes' to cheese sprinkled on top of her pasta - we were charged $1.99 for this. I asked for honey for my tea - we were charged $1.20 for two teaspoons of honey!! I don't like being nickel and dimed by a restaurant - never going back! read more

Came for Lunch today, and ordered the simple cheese burger with fries. Fries were very tasty; bun was stale/fell apart. Perhaps it was due to a lack of freshness, or simply the wrong kind of bun. Excellent service. No reduction in price was offered. read more

I ordered just an appetizer (flatbread) rest of my table ordered steak and hamburgers I never got my appetizer till after the rest of my table got there main dishes waited a good 40 mins and when I received it it was burnt, I couldn't bite into it, nor cut it with a knife it was very dry and seemed like it was under the heat lamp for a long time! It was not busy that night and I shall never return! read more
