I've never felt so ripped off like this before. Whatever you do, don't get the french toast combo. It consists, one slice of french toast eggs and 2 pieces of bacon. I ordered strawberries and a little whip cream to go with the french toast. It was 15 something. What a rip off. I didn't even get full. I normally like this place. For the most part they have good food. I'm extremely disappointed in my order that was to go. What a surprise all right. It was worth maybe 7.99. Not 15 something. This was absolutely ridiculous. Went here this morning for breakfast. I ordered Eggs Benedict w/Monterey Potato Cakes. Monterey Potato Cakes are hashbrowns with cheese, cilantro & onions cooked in them. The food was decent, nothing special. The hollandaise was good and the Monterey Potato Cakes were good too. Most breakfasts were between $7.99 and $9.99. The service was friendly and fast. Not a bad place, but not somewhere I'm likely to go back to since there are so many other breakfast places I like better. read more

I've been hearing about Cafe 67 for I have no idea how long and been wanting to try it just as long. So on a Sunday morning my best friend, her BF and I decided to try it out. The parking lot is a bit small and crowded but we found a spot right away. We were a bit confused as to the older gentleman standing at the front door. I wasn't sure if he was waiting to be seated or greeting people. It was a few minutes before we were served or even greeted with a hello. Once we were FINALLY seated. The menu was extensive but as with any new breakfast place I stuck to the Belgium waffles and eggs. I must say OUTSTANDING!!! The waffle was just enough and it was awesome. My GF wasn't very impressed with her club sandwich, but I did tell her to go for breakfast. Her BF though loved the meatloaf. It was a fun little establishment and I'll be back for breakfast again. Just moved to Lakeside and this was where we ate for our first breakfast out. It was super close and rated pretty well on Yelp. I drove past it trying to get there the first time because the parking lot is tiny and comes out of nowhere. The waitstaff here is awesome. They were completely on it. With their parking lot looking as full as it was I thought there would be a wait or slow service. Wrong and wrong! When everyone on here says their portions are huge, they are not exaggerating! We should have split our meal. I got the croissant breakfast sandwich and he got the California omelet with biscuits and gravy. The actual croissant was super tasty and I wish I had it with out the egg cheese and sausage. There was a bit too much cheese on it for me. The home fried potatoes were lacking flavor in my opinion and the cheese sprinkled on top didn't help any. The man said that the California omelet was pretty good and the biscuits and gravy were good, nothing special. We might go back again, but to get something different and split a meal. read more

I love diners like this because it has a classic feel. The portions are generous and the servers have a little something called personality. There are so many great items on the menu, but unfortunately I can only spread praise on the breakfast items. Any of the omelettes or scrambles will stuff you. To avoid the self loathing feeling after a large meal here, I recommend the fruit over the potatoes o'brien. The potatoes/hash browns are good though. The good: No one I know will find me here. The food is good and plentiful. Highly recommend the spanish omelette w/ fruit. Staff is genuine nice. The bad: parking can get out of hand partly due to its popularity and to the small lot. My inlaws moved about 10 mins from here and I found a place for breakfast before we headed back home from our short vacation. Everybody loved what they got. I got the Ultimate French toast with strawberries, it was a cinnamon bun type bread and was great. only choice was strawberries or blueberries. Came here for the first time from staying with a friend down the street. I never noticed this place until I was craving some breakfast. They popped up on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Omg! I guess its just hit or miss with customer service here. I tend not to come here as their food isn't very good either, but when someone picks it, its where we go. We were greeted by an older women with brunette hair, who told us it would be a few minutes. She was friendly and we were sat at a table quickly. Then we get a middle aged women as our waitress. She offers no greeting or smile, she just wants to know what we would like to drink. We get our drinks and she leaves while we decide upon what to order. She returns 10 minutes later, again zero smile. Honestly seemed like she didn't want to be there from her cadence and just the general manner she presented herself in. Whatever honey, I just want food. I see the apple cinnamon pancakes and think, I love apples and I love pancakes, they're just adding powder sugar, what could go wrong?! We get the items. These apple cinnamon pancakes look terrible. They layered the apple cinnamon between and on top of the pancakes. They put virtually no powdered sugar on them to boot. Okay, looks aren't everything, they probably taste phenomenal... For the first bite I just try the apple cinnamon mixture from on top. Insert vomit emoji here. Its literally just crap Motts brand apple sauce warmed up with diced apples. It has applesauce texture, with such bland, bad flavor. I had to scrape all the applecrap off of the pancakes just to get a bite of the pancake itself. Well I was already put off from: 1. the presentation 2. the flavor/texture of the applecrap, so the pancake was a let down as well. I will say it was a standard pancake but the disaster of everything else ruined even that simple component. The worst part about all this, was when the waitress comes back to the table to ask if everything was good, I straight up say "its bad" and she doesn't acknowledge it and walks off. Okay, cool. She comes back again maybe 8-10 minutes later and my food is practically untouched, other than I scraped all the applecrap to one side, and she doesn't give a crap or find it noteworthy while the other three people are actively engaged on their plates as I'm sitting back in my chair with one leg crossed over the other. She walks away again, then returns with the check. She then clears everyones plates as they have finished while my entire plate is still there, she doesn't clear mine or ask if i'm still eating it or anything. She just ignores it and clears the entire rest of the table. So i'm sitting here with a practically untouched plate (two bites of pancake) and shes so dense that she thinks i'm still trying to eat this, despite the fact that 15 minutes prior I said, to her face, that it was bad. Im forced into giving one star, oh well. They tipped her which I implored them not to do, as tips should be levied based on the service received. Unfortunately, this probably wont be my last time going here, but hopefully it wont be anytime soon, I'll just have to heavily influence against going here when its suggested as an option. I would not recommend this place. Side note: Omg clean your menus... How are they that dirty? Super gross when there is dried up food and sauce on the pages. read more

The food and service is good but I stopped going there when they charged me for the gravy over my potatoes for breakfast. I go to alot of restaurants and they are the only ones that charge for gravy. I've even asked the owners of other place if they charge for gravy and they all looked at me like I was crazy and they all said NO of course not. read more

I love Cafe 67, my favorite thing is their breakfast burrito and it is big. They always give you big portions for your money. Their food always tastes good and they have nice old school decorations. They get real busy on weekends so make sure your not in a rush. The waiters are always friendly and prompt to. read more

I want to first say this was my first time here and I loved it. It's a small place but very comfortable and relaxing. Our waitress was very friendly and very informative. She always had a smile on her face (I wish I could remember her name). The serving size is pretty big, so if you aren't that hungry bring someone with you to share lol. I had the Belgian waffle, eggs, a side of potatoes with cheese and bacon (which I gave to someone else). Now some may be asking why a 4 star if everything was so good. The only reason why I gave them a 4 star is because I wish they had other meats that people like me could eat. I haven't eaten red meat (pork or beef) in over 6 years, so having the option of turkey bacon, turkey or chicken sausage would've been nice. So let me be clear that is the ONLY reason they got 4 stars instead of 5. I love this place and I will go back again, I'll just have to find other meatless options . read more

This place is the BEST for breakfast in lakeside I've found so far. When we lived in El Cajon we'd drive out to it, its that good! Customer service is THE best, prices are fairly cheap, and the food is so good!! If its a weekend, be prepared for a line to get in. Luckily, they bust out the food so fast, the wait is never that long. The only, and I mean ONLY, downfall is the parking situation. Its a pretty small dirt lot and can take forever to get a spot sometimes, especially on those weekends. But they still make up for it on every other front! read more

Didn't have a good experience here today which is unusual. Steve whom I think is part of management brought our drinks and as he was setting my cranberry juice down he was at the same time pouring Andys orange juice in my Dooney and Bourke purse that was setting on the chair next to me. It got pretty much everything in my purse wet and sticky. After 10 minutes of taking everything out of my purse to dry it off I see that there is something floating in my cranberry juice. I asked for a new glass and got one. Both Steve and the server said they were sorry but I think I should have gotten some kind of discount. I'm going to rethink going back there again which is a shame because I really like the place. read more

From the moment we walked in the wait staff were accommodating and cheerful. We would have enjoyed our experience except for the cockroach that decided to come out and attempt to sample our food items. The manager immediately came over and introduced the little cockroach to a napkin coffin, then attempted to tell us that this "almost never happens". She then went on to say they had done "a cockroach shake down last week" and that they "still sometimes come out of the woodworks". Absolutely disgusting. We left immediately and will not be back. Not sure how this restaurant has an A rating when they obviously know it's an issue. read more

My parents frequent this place, and whenever I visit them, we go together. The food is amazing and I have tried most of the menu. You get more curly fries than you can eat if you order them!! The staff is very friendly. The owner often rings us up at the register and she is very outgoing; she loves what she does and it shows. The parking can be a bit annoying if you stop by during the breakfast or lunch rush, so plan ahead. Bring friends, carpool, park on the street-- worth the effort. If you just wait for a spot it never takes too long. If I was still situated in Lakeside, I would be a regular-regular. read more

I came to this establishment with a friend for brunch. The location is great because it is right off the 67. The parking is ok, it has a nice size lot for the amount of people that were inside. I noticed that this establishment was going to have a quiet atmosphere that I could enjoy eating my meal at. The menu offers a variety of dishes to choose from which is great. I decided to try something different so I tried the eggs benedict. My friend ordered the chicken salad sandwich. My eggs benedict were ok, although I did order the hash browns they gave me the homestyle fries by accident and I tried them but, blah, they were no good. My friend's dish was better than mine. I would say that this establishment had no lasting impression on me and I won't be returning or recommending it to anyone. The staff is very friendly, that is a big plus! read more
