The food is always good and nice sized portions but the service isn't always the same. It's hit and miss depending on time of day and what server you get. Yesterday was exceptionally busy for them and it showed with the lack of service. It took forever for someone to come take our drink and food order, food took the same amount of time. When it came to ask for boxes and get the check our server was nowhere to be found so we had to ask another server for boxes and then our server finally arrived with the check. When going to the front to checkout we had to split one meal from the rest and the owner told us to ask for separate checks next time because it makes it easier. It was a bit rude given the lack of service we had received and we weren't even asked if everyone was on one check before bringing it to us. Food is consistently good but service should be also.

I have driven by Cafe 67 coutless times getting onto Highway 67 in Lakeside. We finally decided to check it out since it was on our way home from a short staycation. We were warmly welcomed by their friendly staff and quickly seated at a nice booth. The restaurant is filled with knick-knacks, flair, odds & ends and whatnot but it was all so clean and well kept. Nothing was dusty. I ordered the CFS and it was outstanding. The gravy in particular was excellent. I was intrigued to try what they call a "Monterey Potato Cake" and it sounded better than it tasted. Completely devoid of any crispness and didn't really seem fresh. That tater cake was a gut bomb in itself and I ate less than half of it. I will say the English muffin was exquisite. Perfectly toasted and buttered. I appreciated that they had my favorite blackberry jam packets at the table, plus my wife's favorite, orange marmalade. I look forward to visiting again soon, but will most likely order traditional hashbrowns or grits next time.

This hole in the wall has big breakfast plates with lots of great home cooked good food made with love our server was such a joy she made sure our needs was met she even asked if we wanted a refill of our drinks to go which we took her off as it was very warm day out this morning the decor inside is very old school with old childhood memories would very much recommend eating at this restaurant we definitely had leftovers that we had for dinner and their biscuits are the best

I love eating at small cafes. This place is small, but the food portions here are what keep bringing me back. They are gigantic. The food here is great. My only complaints are there is very little parking available. And the building itself is in serious need of some TLC. read more

I drove all the way out to Lakeside to try out the breakfast at this location expecting it to look the way it did. I was hoping that the food quality would be better than I had anticipated, because the pictures because because the pictures on yelp looked a lot better.The people who work there are absolutely wonderful and sweet. I felt like I was somewhere in middle America driving through the country because I just drove across the country and ate at many places like this. I had ham and eggs and hashbrowns which came out with nothing extraordinary about them but just simple easy eating food. I asked for a side of tomatoes and avocados, with a little olive oil on top. The waitress looked at me as if no one had ever asked for that before. So I was not very disappointed with the food because that's what i expected. The thing I was disappointed about was how dirty the place was. As you can see in my video, the floors were really dirty,the whole place was not very clean. If the place was clean I would have given it four stars. read more

The dishes here are huge! I ordered the chicken fried steak with a potato cake and biscuit with gravy. The food was excellent for the most part. I wasn't a fan of the potato cake, but everything else was delicious. I ate half of my food and took the rest home. Can't complain about the service either! read more

We just had breakfast at cafe 67. The portions are big. We were waiting to pay for breakfast when a server was bagging up our leftovers. I had 3/4 of my meal left and my boyfriend did as well. When she bagged up my meal she dropped it on the floor. The only thing they said was "don't worry we will clean it up." The cashier simply said "cleanup in aisle 1" I don't know about you but if YOU drop my food I expect some kind of compensation. They didn't offer to re make it or take anything off the bill. I will NOT be back here! There are too many other places to have breakfast that actually understand they are supposed to be providing service! I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

I truly love this place. It's probably the only place in all of San Diego that I know in which you can go eat- split one dish between 2 people, both be full, and walk out with the Bill under 11 bucks. With the food being amazing. Both breakfast and I love their off the grill sandwiches.. Staff is overly friendly and super genuine which is not common these days. My husband and I always to here once a week for breakfast and typically end up splitting a sandwich with fries. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. read more

The BEST place for breakfast in East County, hands down! We've been coming here for years and it has never let us down. The food is great (I love the California Omelete and their perfect diner-style pancakes!), the portions huge, and the price still decent - especially compared to all the other local "breakfast specialty" places. And believe me, we've tried them all. Some are pretty okay like Janet's and Perry's, but Café 67 has them beat. The atmosphere and menu are similar to the Antique Row chain, but something about this place goes one better. Whatever your favorite breakfast is, seek this place out and compare it. You will be pleased. read more

There was a good month when I was really into eating breakfast at all meals. I heard good things about Cafe 67, so I made sure to stop in before they close since they close early. My friend had this huevos rancheros type dish and he thought it was decent. He thought Sarita's in Lakeside made it better. He also thought Denny's made better breakfasts overall. I don't remember what I had, but I remember not liking it. The portions were huge. I remember combing my leftovers with my friend's and it overstuffed the Styrofoam to go box. I remember the dishes were bland and just overloaded with cheese and butter. I question why so many people think it's so good - maybe it's just the huge portions that send you into that food coma where after a certain point everything tastes good. read more

After a late morning hike, my wife and I decided to stop in for lunch. She's been before but it was my first time (not that strange, I've only lived in Lakeside for 13 years!). We were seated right away and greeted by our server who was very friendly. I had a French Dip and my wife had breakfast for lunch. My wife commented that her English Muffin was the best she has had since she was a little girl. The butter distribution was perfect, not just a glop on the middle of the muffin. The interior could use a little sprucing up, but I think they are going for that 50's style look, so in that respect it is spot on. Our drinks, the food and our bill were all delivered promptly. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is an old school country diner and the food is fantastic!! My favorites are the biscuits and gravy (a full serving is massive and only about $5.75) and the ultimate French toast. Everything tastes like it was made in grandmas kitchen, it's so good! I've been here several times now, and the service is always polite and prompt. I'd give it six stars if I could :) read more

We were in town visiting friends in the area. We were looking for great spots to eat around town. We were lucky enough to find this gem. I could not believe the size of the portions and the incredible taste the food had. We left fat and happy. I almost wanna drive from Orange County just for round two. Our waitress was so nice and the place was very warm and inviting. We will be back. read more

Nothing like a good 'ol cafe to enjoy some breakfast! Our table enjoyed eggs (over medium), bacon, sausage patty (which I was told had great flavor), hash browns, house potatoes, belgian waffle and an omelette. All was good, no complaints. This is the breakfast place in East County. I love the three egg and chorizo dish with homefries smothered in Tabasco. It's a fabulous way to start the day. All the servers are friendly and energetic--they make you feel like a regular ("NORM!") and are attentive to your needs: coffee cup is hot and full, water pitchers on the table for large parties, jelly and hot sauces replenished regularly. My only complaint is parking can be gnarly on weekends. read more

This place has so much character! Classic diner and well suited in Lakeside. I came here with my Mom and Sister. We shared two plates of food because the portions are massive. We ordered breakfast, omelette and waffles (delicious!) however the coffee was pretty awful. The prices are reasonable and the staff are very friendly. Parking can be difficult during peak hours, but street parking is available. read more

We have been going past this restaurant for a year and a half and never stopped because the parking lot always seemed to be packed. Well, today we took a chance and were very glad that we did! We found a parking spot and once inside we were greeted and were at our table in no time. The staff was great and the food was excellent! We were watching as the plates of food were going to the various customers and wow were they looking great and huge! I had the Frisco burger and it lived up to it's name...my wife had the French dip and was very pleased with her order. Service was great and people were coming and going all the time, so I felt that the parking issue would not really be a problem if a person just waited a few minutes for a place to park during their busiest times. Would we go again? I can't wait! :) read more

One of the best breakfast houses in San Diego county. A bit dated, so feels like you go back in time...the food and portions are awesome. And customer service by the servers is the best that I've seen...they are friendly, keep the coffee coming and back each other up. Busy on the weekends, but worth the drive. read more

This is a great place for breakfast or lunch, they aren't open for dinner. I love the French Omelet for breakfast and the Chicken Salad Croissant off the the lunch menu. I've heard good things about the Ultimate French Toast, but haven't tried it, yet! They are on top of the drinks (a big thing for my husband). They have REALLY good coffee. My dad goes very early to beat the crowds, their parking is limited. I always bring half my meal home for later. Great portions for a great price. Definitely check them out when you visit Lakeside! read more

Great stop. Actually, one of our very,best, favorite stops. Busy most weekends tho. The biscuits are HUGE. The salsa is homemade as is most everything. The egg benedicts are the best I've had in awhile. The servers are friendly, nice, clean and keep your coffee cups filled. Did I mention the potato pancake...be sure and order them instead of the potatoes which are also good but. gotta try the potatoe pan- cakes at least once... :-) Yummm Anyway, great stop.... read more

Every course was brought out timely and the presentation of each dish was exquisite. This is my review of the cafe 67, my first impression was a bit of a surprise cause It's a little hidden. But, once I walked in I felt the warmth of all the people and co-workers. I didn't want to wait for my food so I called it in early so it would be ready when I arrived. I ordered the eggs Benedict with hash browns, it was one of the best breakfasts I've had in a very long time. The front dest clerk that answered the phone and took my order was very sweet and was quick to get me anything I needed. Her name was Brenda and was one of the best receptionist I've had the pleasure of dealing with. Needless to say I was incredibly pleased with the food, service , and prices. The next day I was feeling like I wanted to try it again to see if it was my imagination or if it was really that delicious. To my surprise when I called to place my order, Brenda answered the phone and knew exactly who I was. She knew my order and that I was in the day before. She was kind and took very good care of me and if you're wondering the food was just as good the second time as it was the first time I went there. I HIGHLY recommend coming to this establishment and order yourself some heaven! Thank you Brenda and the whole staff at cafe 67 for all of your service and the wonderful hospitality! -Ken- read more

The effoc Adrian gave me was so packed with mango blud flavor it was so good it made me go to a barber shop that cost a quarter and the effoc energized us to defend diddy gerbert blud and schlep in court this was so good i rate it a 6/7 boiiiii i wish there was a location in ohio or Cuerpintino this is so 67!!!!!
