This is a family-run establishment with a long history. Our menus came with Java-Bode, their house publication, detailing their 40-year history. The walls are adorned with vintage KLM Royal Dutch Airlines airplanes and advertisements. I love their nod to Dutch aviation. Our rijtsttafel was very enjoyable. (As much as I'd hate to group Bloemendaal with Zandvoort) The food is outstanding, especially the rijsttafels, which include a vegetarian one (and Yanie is always willing to make me one with extra peanut sauce items). The best part about Pondok Yanie, in addition to the great food and very relaxing dining area, is the service. I'm not sure I've ever had better service in my life. Even though I only go here once or twice a year when I'm in the country, Yanie always remembers me, knows what foods I like best, and asks about the family, how my life is in the U.S., etc. She also does a great job preparing and wrapping up a big rijsttafel order to go, for if we want to stay in and watch a movie. Pondok Yanie is simply a great place that really deserves the five stars, especially for Yanie herself. And oh, how I miss her food, living in America with no Indonesian restaurants within DAYS from me.
