veg elai parotta (banana leaf)

If you're short on time or craving for Chennai style flavours , just stop reading and order!!!trust me, you won't regret it! Here's a little kutti story of experiencing Chennai-style flavors right here. We ordered the Veg Elai Parotta, Kothu Idiyappam, and Sambar Idly as a to-go order. Even though we arrived just 10 minutes before closing, the staff was incredibly patient while we took our time deciding on the menu. They handed us our order after about 15 minutes, and I was eager to try these dishes since I had seen mouthwatering photos in the reviews. As a South Indian, I've tried various Indian restaurants around Seattle, like MTR and Madras Dosa Corner, but none have truly hit the mark for me. After getting home, I opened the first box --Veg Kothu Idiyappam--and I couldn't wait to take the first bite the moment I opened the box. From the first bite, I could tell this was the real deal! The spice levels and ingredients were just right for authentic South Indian flavors. The dish is essentially mashed idiyappam, stir-fried with a flavorful vegetable curry. It was perfectly seasoned and oh-so-satisfying. Next up was the Veg Elai Parotta, wrapped in a banana leaf. Again, I couldn't resist diving in immediately. The parotta was soft, soaked in a delicious vegetable masala curry, with a hint of that signature banana leaf aroma. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the soft, flaky parotta paired beautifully with the rich curry. Meanwhile, my husband was enjoying the Medu Vada, dipped in sambar. The medu vada was incredibly soft, and the sambar brought it to life with its rich, well-balanced spices. He finished it quickly and moved on to the Elai Parotta, and we both couldn't decide which dish to focus on because everything was equally delicious! When I finally tried the Medu Vada myself, I was blown away. It took me right back to the streets of Chennai with its soft texture and perfectly spiced sambar. It's been so long since I've had such an authentic sambar, and the medu vada was tender throughout, just how it should be. Despite being light eaters, we finished every last bite and didn't feel heavy afterward, which was a pleasant surprise. The menu has plenty of great options, and I'm especially excited to try their impressive non-veg dishes next time. They also offer Indian snacks like murukku, jangri, halwa, and badushah, along with nannari sharbat, which is great!!! Overall, this place has become my new go-to for South Indian food in Seattle, and I'm so glad I found it! Parking is available.

Tl;dr amazing authentic Indian food Came here on a double date with friends and was blown away by the food here. The service was so friendly and they answered our questions on the food and offered recommendations. Definitely coming here again!

To give some context, this place is the re-branding of Just Tiffins which used to be at the same place. But thankfully the rebranding has also improved their quality. The medu vada sambar was nice with the right amount of crisp. The coconut chutney is worth trying. The sambar is good. The onion uttapam is decent as well. Their filter coffee is quite authentic as well. The service is pretty quick. The ambience is basic. I am giving this place 3 stars as I have just tasted two dishes but going ahead the rating might change based on future experiences.

I ordered paneer butter masala and grabbed a mango lassi from the fridge. I returned about 5 min later and it was ready for me! They do not ask for spice preference, and the things I have ordered all have mild heat (equivalent to 1-2 stars). This works great for me. The meals all come with rice, which is great. The food is definitely better for takeout, as the curry and rice were in different containers and it was a little awkward to try to eat it there. That said, it held up great and was a perfect meal on the couch! The ambiance in the food court is so so. Really depends on the time of day. Lots of crying babies there when we went, so we took it to go.

This was a Friday, so I was told the lunch specials were no longer valid. There attendant explained that it's only valid Monday-Thursday. I find that kind of lame, like it's the middle of the day on Friday c'mon. I got the Butter Chicken meal which was ok. The chicken was a bit dry, but the sauce was nice and creamy. About 2 servings. The meal also comes with Naan, it was 3 nice sized pieces. They were hot and tasted fresh. The presentation was nice as my expectations for food court food a slightly lower. Getting it "for here" over "to go" probably helped with that. I'd consider going again but definitely would try for a lunch special to save a few bucks.

I'd say overall, the menu was a little pricey, but they've got some pretty unique offerings. Parking is pretty easy as it's a shared lot with crossroads. Malaiyo is effectively just textbook light, whipped cream with a ton of saffron. They definitely don't skimp on the saffron, so if you enjoy that floral, slightly herbal flavor, this will be the dessert for you. Jalebi Rabri came out piping hot and it's got a crunch that once you bite through, the sugar syrup just gushes out. It's definitely tasty, but it was SO sweet. I'd probably put in an order and share this with a group as more than one in a sitting might be a bit tough. Banarasi Lassi was just a little tart, creamy, and had a little bit of saffron swirled through. It had just a touch of the floral saffron flavor and the sliced almonds on top were a nice touch. It's definitely on the thicker side, so more of a spoon situation than a drink.

We ordered banarasi chutney paneer tikka and the smokey soya chaamp. Soya was def the star dish of the night.. super flavorful, smoky, and genuinely the only thing I'd come back for. As for mains,my friends and I shared gorakhpuri kofta which was tasty and shadi wala matar paneer which was average. I didn't like tamatar ki chaat. The food was decent and chaas was really good but nothing was so good that I'd be thinking about it the next day. If you go, get the smokey soya chaamp and keep expectations chill for everything else.

You're in an old food court with people reading books they just bought from half priced books, there's a live band called the "Criminal Squirrel Orchestra" singing their experimental folk indie in matching hot pink tees thanking the audience for putting up with them after each song lol, and all the restaurants has that "Global Village Coffeehouse" aesthetic (look it up you'll know what I mean ). The old navy and Barnes and nobles have their old logo, there are middle aged artists and craftsman tabling their handmade pottery, quilted aprons, or homegrown beeswax, an extremely worn out play area with children running around, you can see people on computers at the library which is connected to the food court? and kids riding on those kiddie car rides that rock back and forth... everything was pure nostalgia and it's all preserved here in Bellevue. Anyways the food was amazing; I didn't know what half the menu items were but I trusted google reviews for this one and the portions and range of flavors did not disappoint. James at first was hesitant because it was all vegetarian but everything was so flavorful, had so many textures we didn't even think about craving meat. There is something for everyone at this food court and there's even a Dick's just beyond the parking lot.

Very balanced Indian food on the go - assembled either in a roll or bowl. The rolls are roti - either plain or layered with pan-fried egg - filled with Indian food - Chicken Masala, Mutton Masala, Paneer Masala, Mushroom Masala, Achaari Aaloo, Aaloo Gobhi Matar and Chana Masala - along with the salad. They are served with chutneys as well. The bowls are typically fried basmati rice with a creamy tomato gravy overlaid with these exotic Indian fillings. You can customize your spice level (1-5) as well. They also offers no-egg options. We tried the Mutton masala, chicken masala and the aloo ghobi matar rolls. They do have a kiosk to place the order. The food was served very quickly. The rolls were really delicious. Though it may look small, but the portion is actually good. One roll may be enough. The tri-pod is a popular option, but that's an overkill. You may not be able to finish all. But if you want to try different rolls, that's a great option. It's a small restaurant, but seems to be popular. While we were dining in, so many customers stopped by to pick up their food. I haven't tried the bowl or the pav bhaji that day. I will definitely go back to try those.

Unfortunately, there was no option to specify the spice level for the paneer masala side dish, despite the restaurant description highlighting customizable spice levels as part of its offering. Because I have health-related dietary concerns, I called the restaurant immediately after placing the order to request a mild spice level. The staff member who answered was initially unable to locate my order, even after I spelled out the name multiple times, which significantly delayed the process. My husband later called and was able to get someone to find the order, but when I called back again to confirm the mild spice request, I was told it was too late to make any changes. I also had an earlier issue when I accidentally went to the wrong location and called for assistance. Rather than providing the Bellevue location's direct number or helping redirect me, I was placed on hold multiple times, which added to the inconvenience. While the food itself was excellent, the customer service and ordering experience were disappointing. Since the Yelp/ DoorDash ordering flow does not allow customers to specify spice preferences for certain items, I expected more flexibility and consideration when I called immediately after placing the order with a reasonable health-related request.
