Highly disappointed in this place. I came here at 12:30 PM hoping to try the beignets and coffee, and was greeted with a rank plume of cigarette smoke at the door despite there being a large red sign that is posted on the front door glass that says "No smoking." For those that have a strong smoke aversion like I do within a restaurant, this is a huge red flag. I took a couple of steps in and had the entire cafe of forty to fifty people staring at me, as well as the hostess/waitress that looked at me with a 'WTF do you want' look. Aside from the chilly reception at the door and cigarette stench that tinged the nostrils, the venue was not lit very well. In fact, it could be mistaken for a nightclub that had just dimmed the lights really low, yet why in the middle of the day? And seriously, why do you have a sign up that says "no smoking" when half of your patrons are doing exactly that? Although this is advertised as a cafe, I really felt that I walked into a dirty, stinky bar venue. Given the previous reviews that I had read about Cafe Boulevard prior to venturing out and trying it, I honestly thought that I had the wrong place. I wound up walking out (the only DFW establishment that I've ever walked out of), particularly when I realized that I more than likely wouldn't be welcomed here if I chose a table to sit at. I'm quite sure that this venue is a pretty good place for those that could mind a heavy cigarette stench (not exaggerating) or rude/condescending service. Yet if I have a beignet & coffee craving next time, I'll just save that for a New Orleans-based venue that has far better customer service + cleaner restaurant environment. read more

One star for the rude awakening that this place turns into a club/bar after a certain time....and I had a 10 year old with me. Needless to say, no beingets for us...but I will try again another time in hopes of giving it more stars...and beignets, of course. UPDATE: Came back here finally to try the beingets and WOW, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! We ordered two types, the small ones and the regular sized ones...the small ones were hard to bite into because they were..well..hard..and the regular sized ones were a bit better, but nothing like real beingets. read more

I ordered 5 lbs ($6.99/lb) of "The Works" crawfish, sour sop smoothie, strawberry smoothie, and a combination banh mi. Everything was ok. The batch of crawfish I got had a bunch of tiny crawfish. It was a little disappointing. The crawfish here isn't as spicy and is actually on the sweeter side. The banh mi here are all toasted in a panini press. It gives the sandwich that extra crunch but if you're hoping for something old-school, you won't find it here. They use real fruit in their smoothies which is awesome. I just wish it wasn't so sweet. Go a little easier on the sugar and their smoothies would be phenomenon. I love the color scheme in here but the seating is a little uncomfortable if you're sitting against the wall. I would aim for the lower tables in the middle of the room if I were you. read more

Came here around 7:20PM. From the outside looking in, my family and I barely saw any customers. There were two people sitting at the faraway bar stool and we were hesitant to walk in, but I already opened the door, so I thought might as well give them a shot. Maybe we'll bring them good luck and more customers will walk in after us. WELP. I literally took three steps. Three. And a heavy, heavy, (did I say heavy?) stanky waft of cigarette smoke tried to strangle me to death. HAHAHAno. Secondhand smoking is not my thing. I can't deal. Sorry, no. Bye. Judging from the other decent reviews here, I'm gonna assume they're not like this during the daytime, but I don't plan on returning to find out. From the evening point, their lights were dimly lit and it was hella dark. I won't be fazed if there's a secret strip club or a dead body hidden in the back. I'm surprised Arlington has these type of places. I expect to run into them in Houston here and there, but this place caught me off guard. I think this place would get better ratings if they changed the beignets and coffee out of their name and just made it a primarliy seafood place. I've tried the coffee and beignets and they are very average, but the crawfish, crabs, shrimps, other seafood are amazing! The atmosphere is ok, it's kind of dark in the place. They sometimes host mic/karaoke nights and the place turns into a bar at night so it's definitely not some place I'd take my whole family at night but it's a fun night out with friends if you want a place to relax and drink. As for the crawfish, my favorite item on the menu goes for $7.99/lb- they have flavors such as lemon pepper and garlic Parmesan that I've never seen at other seafood places. They taste just like the boiling crab if you get "The works" which was an off the menu flavor last time I was there. The sauce is thick and garlicky so it sticks to the crawfish really well and is very flavorful. I've tried all the flavors but my personal favorite is the garlic parmesan. Definitely coming back when it's crawfish season again. Tip- check in on facebook when you're there and you get 10% off! I came here for my friend's open mic. That's the only thing I like about this place...I'm a little confused because they serve alcohol here like a bar but it's a cafe. The drinks are a little bit overpriced! I got a soybean drink and it was $3 in a skinny glass! I also got a basket of beignets...which is enough to share with a big group. I've only tried the beignets here, but from what I had, I enjoyed it very much! I am from New Orleans, and of course many know the famous beignet cafe, Cafe Du Monde, but what tourists doesnt know that there are many other mom and pop beignets in new orleans that taste amazing too! There are beignet shops in many small neighborhoods which I used to visit, and All varied a bit in their own respect! Cafe Boulevard has their own take on the beignet and offer different sizes. The Taste was great, the texture and fluff was right on to what beignets should be and there was a crispy texture still on the outside. We are in TEXAS and I believe they did an excellent job on their take of the beignet. But warning, the small little pillows are tiny and make you forget you are eating a complete basket of them! phew.... The atmosphere seems to be laid back and it is cool that they have a night for open mic. Allows them to get more business on a weekday and allows locals to showcase their talent! Interesting Place! I wanted to like this place so much...and I do, but they are still lacking something. I think the crawfish here have great potential, but they haven't got it 100% yet. I like how everything is flavorful and concentrated. First time I went there with my friend, the crawfish was good but the meat was sticking to the shells! Every single one of them! The second time I went there, the meat was perfect, so I guess it depends. The flavors are tasty. I've tried The Works, Buttery Garlic, and Garlic Parmesan. The Works tasted a little sour. The buttery garlic was so amazing - but the garlic was TOO strong and raw. Felt like I just ate a bowl full of wasabi.. The garlic parmesan was just right, and probably is my favorite. This place is good for crawfish, but it does not compare to the boiling crab at all. Good flavor but they put too much butter & garlic so make sure you tell them when ordering light butter & garlic. We came in at about 7:45pm and was immediately seated. The waitress took our drink order. Our drinks came out pretty quickly. Which is a plus. We then ordered crawfish. It was very flavorful...we ordered The Works (all the flavors combined), however it was a bit too buttery for me, but still pretty good. The first 5 lbs came out rather quickly, but the second bag came out about 45 mins later. By the time it came out it was close to 9pm. I'm not sure what happened, but waiting for it made me full. I didn't try any of the items on the menu, maybe one day. If you're craving for crawfish and don't feel like driving to BC in Garland, I'd definately come here. I just think that they need to tone down on the butter a bit, but that's me. We came there at about 9:00 pm. We didn't expect too much since they closed at 10. But half of the menu was out. The crawfish was very small. It is drowned in big chunks of garlic. So be careful if you don't like that. The snow crab was even worse. It was brown and looked like it was reheated in the microwave. The service was okay. There was one person there running the bar and the food. She didn't write anything down and forgot a few things when repeating our order. Granted she was nice. The atmosphere isn't ideal for family. For New Year's, every usual cool place you can go to as a young twenty-something is going to either be cheap and crappy, or fun and vaguely douche-y, in the way college bars are near sorority houses. We went here not expecting much (thinking it was a coffee shop) but instead it was a hidden awesome cafe-turned-bar. The owners gave us a bottle of champagne and a bucket if Coronas in the house to ring in the New Year. We felt very welcome. There was a live DJ, cigars, and a great atmosphere. If you're a white hipster looking for a hidden Asian scene, this is your place. If you're Asian, you probably knew about this place. If you don't mind loud music and smoke the mama that's cooking back there is the best! Hot pot soup, chicken wings, shaken beef tips, and rice porridge soup is worth the visit and to party. best place in the metroplex for crawfish.. now we dont have to drive all the way to garland (boiling crab) to get our tasty mudbugs.. i also had a banh mi hanoi, panini style, price was pretty steep for an average banh mi so i think i'll stick with the viet deli's when needing a sammie fix.. decor is contemporary with a few flat screens adorning the walls and service was super nice.. all in all we'll definitely be back for the crawfish and maybe some beignets next time.. read more

I came here about 6 pm right after work. I sat in m car and read reviews about this place before I walked in. After reading a few reviews I was afraid of walking into a cloud of smoke. Once I walked in the place had a few patrons, and the place didn't smell like a smog house. I order a coffee and hamburger to go. The food was good, got my moneys worth I would say. After reading the reviews I had to check out this place for myself. It's not your ordinary coffee shop but, the atmosphere was very relaxed. I had the Beignet Pillows and they were delicious! I also ordered a "vietnamese iced coffee w/ condensed milk." Though it was small in size, believe me when I tell you this coffee has more caffine in it than anything Starbucks has. It kept me wired for hours! My girlfriend had an Iced vanilla cappuccinno and enjoyed it as well. Also a big plus was that they had free Wi-Fi. I will definitely come back so I can try the vietnamese french bread sandwich that was advertised and more beignets and coffee! read more

Finally a hot spot in Arlington for delicious food at fantastic prices! Typically, I am not a big crawfish fan~ until now! The crawfish at Cafe Boulevard are flavorful, cooked to perfection and enormous! I was very impressed with the southwest eggrolls as well, which have become a new favorite for my family. I was hesitant to try the crawfish initially, but was pleasantly surprised to find large, succulent pieces of crawfish with tremendous flavor!! The food presentation was picture perfect, so much in fact, that I did take pictures and post them on my FB. The waitstaff was friendly, courteous, and attentive- quick to refill, take our orders, and remove our plates as we finished- and we were a party of 15! The owner personally came out and made sure all things were to our satisfaction- we were treated as welcomed guests. The atmosphere was pleasant & modern with music playing as we dined. The Cafe itself was very clean, comfortable & neatly decorated. The ambiance was fun & lively yet relaxing at the same time- a great place for a fun evening out as a couple, or for a large group. At the end of our meal came the beignets~ beautifully cooked, light golden-brown pieces of heaven! Delicately dusted with powdered sugar, these soft, plush morsels did not have a chance with our bunch- they were consumed with fervor in a matter of minutes! At the first bite the response was the same for every person at the table, "Ohhhh! these are amazing!!" Everyone loved them, so much so that I thought there might be a physical confrontation over them! All in all, as particular as our family is about where we spend our hard earned money- Cafe Boulevard Beignet & Coffee is definitely the right place for the right price. This place is awful! Please don't come here!!! The service is horrible. Take your money elsewhere... I came here today with my boyfriend to get some Vietnamese sandwiches. When we walked in, kids (i'm assuming the owner's) were scattered through out the dining room. I couldn't tell who the waitress was. I was never greeted or shown a menu. It felt awkward walking in. Eventually, I just ask a girl who I thought was the waitress (she was the only thing close to an adult in the room) "ARE YOU OPEN?". I had to ask "are you open". three times before she answered. I then ordered my sandwiches and waited for 20 minutes before I got them. I don't understand what took so long when we were the only customers. YOu would assume that since it was a dead house, they would be happy that they were receiving any customers. The sandwiches were not good. They were dry and small. It was not worth $4 a sandwich. I would have gone to ABC Bakery (in the same parking lot) but it was closed. It looks run down but the service and food is much better and more reasonably priced (2.50 a sandwich.) But seriously, you might as well go to Subway and get a 5$ footlong before you come to this awful place. O and another note, my boyfriend and I ate our sandwiches in the car. While we were in the car, I'm assuming the owner pulled up beside us and was mugging the hell out of us..... People like this make the Vietnamese culture look horrible!! read more
