The flavors were excellent, everything tasted great, and the cones were big and solid. My next visit dropped to three stars because service was painfully slow with only one employee working, and then we discovered that our cones had hollow centers. So we came back and gave them another chance. This time, service was speedy. There were three people working, everyone was friendly, and we got our orders quickly. The ice cream tasted great all around too. But... the products are still inconsistent. Two people had the ube cones, and those were solid. Three other people received hollow centers in their cones and cup. It's just disappointing. Everything was also extra soft this time. The ice cream was much meltier than what we've experienced here before. Not bad tasting, just noticeably different. So yes, this visit was better. Much better service and great flavor, but we still didn't walk away feeling the same way we did after that first five star visit. At $9 per cone, I think they need to deliver a more consistent product. The flavors are good and there's clearly something worth coming back for, but when the experience can vary this much from visit to visit, it's hard to justify that price.

You grab a large brown paper bag, walk through the place and fill it with freshly made bagels and breads, and then pay what seems like some arbitrary low number they come up with while at checkout! When I was growing up, we'd go in here at 4-5 a.m. when returning from the city and purchase even 'fresher' bagels and breads if that's even imaginable! How you can still get this close to production and touch and take yourself is beyond me, but I don't care! I LOVE this place! Long live Rockland Bakery for never changing! First thing that hits you is that amazing baked goods smell. That is quickly followed by a pleasant greeting from the owners. Definitely taking pride in their place. They gave good recommendations. I went with the Americano that featured the Guatemalan coffee beans and added a cookie and a sweet roll. The coffee was excellent, smooth and flavorful. Enjoyed both baked goods for dessert later in the evening, very fresh and not overly sweet. Will certainly return to Ixchel!

The inside of the cafe is filled with traditional Guatemalan and Mayan decor and art, but with modern touches. The employees are super friendly and explained each item and what were the ingredients. They were patient with us as we took time to decide on what to order. Everything tasted great and we will definitely be back!
