Robin's Creamery was a bit of a letdown this time around. When we walked in, there was only one person working and we waited at least 10 minutes while he prepared just a few drinks. Not really sure why it took that long, but it was definitely frustrating just standing there. We eventually ordered four cones (ube and matcha)...and giving credit where it's due, the ice cream itself is still very good. It's creamy, flavorful, and consistent with what we had on a previous visit. That said, the portions felt off this time. The cones didn't seem as full, and what really stood out was that each one had a noticeable hollow center -- almost like the middle was missing. Sign. For $9 a cone, that just shouldn't happen. Found Robins after having dinner around the area. I'm a big fan of matcha ice cream and after looking at the pics and reviews I was looking forward to this spot. I ended up getting the matcha and ube ice cream in a cup ($10). Don't get fooled by the cup size, the amount they give is a lot. I was pretty full after I finished the cup. Came in on a summer Monday night in August after some fun in Lake Welch. Young man Kayzo welcomed us warmly and happily assisted us with making a decision. We tried a couple of Gelato flavors, the Macha and Ube soft serve. Most of the gato flavors were a bit off, either too sweet too artifical or breeze burned. The flavors are special and interesting: the soft serve comes in matcha, taro, and ube(!), and the gelato has a wider assortment including flavors like white chocolate salted caramel and red velvet alongside more familiar ones...mmm! I had a custom milk tea float with taro milk tea and lychee popping boba, topped with ube soft serve ice cream and it is delicious! Loved the ube ice cream which is incredible and so creamy. The proprietor was sweet to give my toddler a little cup of his own to taste, which he devoured of course. The inside of the shop is chic and cheerily decorated. The shops have a large parking lot plus inside lots within the shops. The inside is clean. There's a nice photo op spot and also variety of games for you to play while you enjoy your sweet. At my first visit, i tried the Ube and Taro ice soft serve. I've never had this and I loved it so much. During another visit I tried the Taro bubble tea with mango jelly. 1 star only cause there isn't a zero stars option! Went for gelato and apparently putting two different Flavor scoops in 1 cup is a department of health violation. I then opted for 1 scoop on a sugar cone. Ordered two cones. Each scoop Was the size of a golf ball in a tiny sugar cone. The cost was $21.00!!! Oh yeah let me not forget about the cameras that the worker wouldn't mix flavors in a single Cup because "they" will see him. Guess they're linked right to DOH!!! The bad: Taro Machine wasn't cleaned properly the night before so no taro soft serve, matcha soft serve was sour - not bitter like it's supposed to be, taro bubble tea had absolutely no flavor - which the gentleman/owner? remade but with 6 scoops of powder it still lacked flavor, 7 scoops made it too chalky. My son felt sick after the matcha soft serve and trying the bubble tea. For $50+, it was a disappointing experience. So happy they finally opened and it was well worth the wait! This space is absolutely beautiful from the awesome blossom wall to the table art, they really create a cool and fun atmosphere.
