    Dark roast

Good coffee, staff that knows what they are doing, great pastries which feel homemade and not commercialized. Quant and clean spot. Located in the heart of Vancouver city center.

The savory oats here were so warming and scrumptious. The gravy was delightful, the greens were crisp, and the egg was perfectly cooked. However, the price for a small bowl was pretty steep- and the same price for a breakfast sandwich, too! The cherry blossom matcha was fine but the cold foam didn't add much. It left a strange tart taste that I didn't love.

Best croissants in the city?! We have yet to find a better place. Prices are standard downtown prices but great value when you compare it to other places. The drinks are good too. Friendly staff. Not a lot of seating but there's usually a table for 2 or 3 available. Definitely recommend if you're looking for lunch or a quick bite.

    Excellent Spanish latte

The Spanish Latte and chicken barely soup were excellent! Cubano was good but a little spicy for me and the tea a little tame. Services was friendly and attentive. Seating inside and a few extra seats in the lobby just outside the doors.

I came to Vancouver for business. First day, I Yelped to coffee shop and found this place. And also 5 mins from my hotel to stop by and eat pastries & coffee for quick breakfast. Whether you go to the store or order online, the steps are the same. I ordered double baked almond croissant and Spanish latte. I had time, so I ate inside the store. People who ordered online were visiting the store constantly. Friendly service, good coffee, yummy croissant, clean environment...everything good!

    Ham and cheese sandwich

The croissant was perfectly crunchy, all of the ingredients perfectly complimented each other and I was so pleasantly surprised by the honey mustard. Such a good sandwich for under 10$, and the staff are extremely kind and attentive! I will be a regular customer. The restaurant has a lot more seating than you'd expect and the vibe is awesome. Lots of open space. Thanks!

    Zucchini Chocolate Muffin

We stopped by Cafeclub after hearing a few friends rave about their seasonal drink and WOW! the hype is real... :) We tried the cherry blossom cold foam drinks (cold brew and matcha) and the foam was like nothing we've ever had, super light yet creamy, and packed with flavor. The drink itself was worth the detour. We also shared their Big Tuna sandwich and it was legit. Super fresh, super satisfying, easily big enough to split. For dessert, we grabbed a zucchini chocolate muffin that was moist, fluffy, and had just the right amount of sweetness. The space itself is really unique, feels like a cool cross between a diner and a car enthusiast's dream garage, in the best way. Tons of character without trying too hard. And shoutout to the team, the service was warm and welcoming from the second we walked in. Definitely felt like a neighborhood gem we'll keep coming back for sure!

    Breakfast Sando

I don't usually write reviews, but I had to make an exception. The breakfast was unreal; super fresh, flavourful, and just hit the spot. I had the Breakfast Sando and my gf had the Croque Matin. And the coffee? Absolutely bang on. My flat white was smooth, strong, and made right. The place has a great vibe, and the staff made me feel right at home. Just wanted to give this spot a well-deserved shoutout... go check it out if you haven't already. Hidden gem.

Cute little cafe with only online ordering available. It's kind of nice for socially anxious people like me lol. Got a latte, and it was nice.

Fall Harvest Salad, Birthday Cake, Salted Hojicha Latte
    Dana S.

I have been kind of curious about this cafe for a while and was finally incentivized to try it by their anniversary promo where they were offering free birthday cake with mobile orders. I was on the fence about the mobile ordering concept. I know it's convenient and/or saves anxiety for a lot of people, but I like having a little bit of personal interaction when I go to a coffee shop. However I gave it a try because placing a mobile order was part of the promo, and I can get on board with their execution of this concept. You can indicate if you plan on eating in so you can get your food plated instead of in takeout containers, and for drinks, they don't have in-house mugs (something they should add), but you can indicate if you're bringing a personal cup. And I had the nicest interaction with the two staff there when I arrived as well as a short chat about the food (they just adjusted the menu for fall) before I left, so that put the personal connection back in the experience. I didn't ask but it seems like they were the owners? They both seemed passionate about the cafe. When I placed my order, I selected that I wanted it ready ASAP and the estimated time was 5 minutes. I couldn't physically get there that fast but when I arrived 7-10 minutes later the food was ready, and they took my mug to make my drink, and brought that to my seat along with my cake in a timely manner. The menu looked promising - they have unique lattes and the food choices are distinct from the run-of-the-mill coffee shop fare - but I wasn't sure if the quality would be there or if the place was just relying on the appeal of the mobile ordering gimmick, but I'm happy to say everything was great! I got the fall harvest salad, a salted hojicha latte, and of course the birthday cake. I don't often order salads at coffee shops because I usually just think they sound less interesting or satisfying than other entrees, but this one had a bunch of ingredients and flavours that I love (very tasty dijon dressing), and the lentils, blue cheese, and sweet potato made it very satiating. The cake was great too - for a freebie, I was glad that it was "snack-size" because it made a nice sweet ending to my meal without feeling like too much of an indulgence. The cake was very moist and had a rich caramelly flavour. The salted hojicha latte was very interesting. If you like salted caramel things you will probably like this. The touch of salt added a unique depth to the tea, which was high quality. I think the prices are quite fair, especially for this area. There isn't a ton of seating, just one small high-top table, four window-bar seats, and a few tables outside off the sidewalk. The aesthetic is pretty minimalist, but it's not a bad vibe for hanging out to eat. I liked their music. The window seats are great for people-watching if you're into that. It's definitely a place I hope to visit again, and I'd recommend it to others even if you don't care about the mobile order gimmick, because this place showed me that it's not just about the mobile order - they have a great product and the mobile order is also there for your convenience. Wishing them a happy first anniversary and hoping there will be more to come!

Staying in Vancouver for the weekend and found this place when looking for some coffee and decided to come because of the high reviews! Totally worth it and I will be back! Delicious coffee, and food. And terrific service! Was even served a glass a water with my coffee and BLT while I sat and eat. The guy who served us (I presume the owner?) is super, super nice!! You can order ahead too for easy pick up!

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook.
