No wait, great service, and amazing coffee. Cafe con Leche pretty much killed it on the brunch front. On a beautiful Saturday morning, there was no problem getting a half indoor/half outdoor table facing the street. The waiter was super nice, explaining the menu and the drink selection. As you might guess, the Cafe con Leche was FANTASTIC. I could drink that for every meal until I die. (I'm allergic to milk, and they happily accomodated with soy.) Don't sleep on the coffee! Then, I had papa con chorizo, which was really good. The only thing would be that my potatoes were not necessarily the best, and seemed like they had been sitting there for a while. read more

Have dined here a few times the food is usually very good but today service was horrible. Was not greeted when entering after waiting a while standing there I approached one of the waiters to ask about waiting time. I was debating for a long time how many stars to give to this place. Honestly the food that I ordered was delicious but the portions at small and overpriced for what they are. Their drink menu is awesome so make sure to grab a drink. The atmosphere felt modern and definitely a restaurant and not a Mexican hole in the wall. The real reason I am giving four stars is the service. After they cleared our table we had to wait a really long time for our check. I went here on Saturday with a gf for a late breakfast, I really liked that they have a parking lot in the back. Once we walked in, we were greeted immediately and seated. Tried their cafe con leche and it was yummy, boiled milk with coffee, what more can you ask for. I had a chorizo with avocado omelette and it was great. Very filling. Delicious delicious delicious! Fried tortillas drenched in tomatillo with cheese, crema, three eggs with a side of rice and beans. The ultimate breakfast. I've ordered the chilaquiles in the restaurant twice and ordered it as takeout once (but probably again soon). Quality is always there and it's always incredibly filling. Came here for breakfast and I definitely picked the best possible place! Had the namesake coffee, and it was incredible - I almost ordered another to go, but knew my eyes were bigger than my stomach! Came here for brunch on Christmas Eve. My party of two was sat promptly at a clean table. We were tended to in a timely manner. We ordered the steak and eggs, chilaquiles, and two mimosas. The mimosas were served first, and our food was served about 15 minutes after. Our food was warm and served to us at the same time. Came here on a whim for a late dinner, and had a pretty good experience. It was beautiful out so we decided to eat out in the back patio. The atmosphere was nice with the lights, and it was really comfortable. I thought the service was fine though they did mess up with our check, but all in all, I left full and happy. I got the pollo campestre and the boyfriend got tacos. The chicken really hit the spot for me. There was so much flavor and it all complimented each other so well with the pineapple, spinach, and chipotle sauce. The yuca fries were a great addition too. We came to Cafe con Leche on a Thursday night and enjoyed everything but nothing to write home about. They offer a happy hour with $6 margaritas which was great! Once happy hour is over they increase to $10 which I think is a bit over priced for the amount you get. We started with the guacamole and 'house made chips' for $10. The chips were definitely did not seem house made, they were just drenched in oil. Also, they do not offer complimentary chips and salsa, you need to purchase that for $4. We have the chicken fajita plate and a steak burrito. Both plates were fine, nothing spectacular. I asked for salsa for the dinner plates and was given a green and red salsa which were very good. The place was practically empty and they made my uncle wait before I arrived. Even though one of us was there (and he could have sat alone even if I was running late) they stuck with policy and made him stand. This is an antiquated customer service rule. Very, very few scenarios come to mind why you wouldn't seat an incomplete party in an empty restaurant. The whole purpose of trying to get everyone seated together is timing, particularly with large parties. Amazingg food and environment, I tried the empanadas de pollo that were full of flavor and filling. As my plate I chose the Torta de milanesa which has actual thick meat, not like other places that barely have any meat in them. My only complaint was not having more time and appetite to try more of their menu! The location near Logan Square was perfect for me to stop in before catching the train to O'Hare. I went with the suggestion from other Yelpers to go with the Chilaquiles and a black coffee. Coffee was good, and very decent size for the price. I got the Chilaquiles with my eggs sunny side up and some avocado. The service was excellent, very warm smiles from the staff and they checked in to see how it was enjoying the food. The Verde sauce on the Chilaquiles was delicious, and slightly spicier than I expected. If it wasn't a Monday I'd definitely have ordered to a michelada as well. The cafe is very airy and comfortable, with Mexican music softly playing in the background. I imagine it's totally pumping here on weekends. read more

I made reservations for this place for my 21st birthday (they are on top with their reservations i give them that). Where do I start.. First, the food is really expensive for such a small serving. My bf ordered carne asada plate and he almost finished the plate before i even got my food and so is my other friend. so he just sat there the whole time while some were still waiting for their food. The rice was too small, not even what it looks like on their website. The reason for giving two stars was because the lechon jibarito i ordered was actually good, not the best (i've had better), but good. The drinks we got were also small and for sure had more ice in it than the actual drink. Second, my friend brought a cake and told us they charge $6 PER SLICE (somewhere around that price). you must be kidding. lol. i have about 14+ guest. So no, the server instead told us, she will give a flan (but charged us later on for it and had to ask her again and gave us another receipt). The flan was ok, it was just on a regular plate with happy birthday on it and a candle. LOL. the serving was too small for the price, my bf bought chips and ate at home. It was so expensive that most of my guest were disappointed of the food they ordered - they told the server about it but she unfortunately didn't really do anything about it. Sad. We stayed a little longer than expected because we were trying to figure out who got what since everything was mixed up on the receipt which was weird cus theres table numbers on the receipt, the owner/manager/server (not sure exactly who it was) offered she buy us all a shot - which was nice of her. but overall - i honestly don't recommend this place.
