The chilaquiles rojas had nicely crispy chips in a tasty sauce. And the huarache loco may be my favorite fusion loco moco - a nice, thick oval tortilla absolutely loaded with carne, cheese, eggs, etc. Was a delight. I am a regular at this local and family-owned business, and I will say that this place DOES not disappoint. Located right off of Foothill, it's at a prime location where you won't miss it -- because the coffee shop is right on an intersection. The first time I went here, I was immediately blown away by the smell of the cafe de olla. As you can imagine, having a craving for it would have instantly brought me to it -- and it did. The owner, Sal, is always so welcoming each time. There's something about the coffee shop with the art and her energy. Their cafecito is one of the best in Oakland. She'll even ask if you want milk and sugar in your cafe de olla (when some cafecito places don't). Not just that, they also make the different pastries and arroz con leche from the kitchen (and from local sources as well). They also make tamales as well -- from what I've heard! It was very taste! The agua de jamaica tasted like it was made out of the actual flower and not the powder. The nachos were very delicious and had beef chunks that were well seasoned and cooked. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Today, my coworker and I visited this charming cafe on the corner of Foothill Blvd. We placed a phone order for pickup, and the wait time was just 12 minutes. As soon as we walked in, I was immediately drawn to the beautiful artwork, board games, and other unique touches around the cafe. I also loved how the menu was displayed on TVs--it really added a modern, fun vibe. The space was spacious but not crowded, making it a very comfortable environment. Sal, the owner, greeted us with a warm, welcoming smile. She provided AMAZING service--friendly, polite, and so accommodating. She mentioned that they serve breakfast all day, with a variety of options to choose from. The coffee was absolutely delicious! I had a meatless breakfast burrito and a caramel iced coffee, while my coworker went for a mazapán iced coffee and chilaquiles. We were both so happy to discover this gem for our breakfast adventures during break time. We'll definitely be returning to support this incredible Latina-owned business. My partner and I came in here on Wednesday morning - it was our first time trying it out after driving past it many times. We came here based on the reviews online and were not disappointed. We each ordered a breakfast burrito and really liked the flavors. The burritos were served with a spicy orange salsa and a mild green one. Both really good. We also ordered cafe de olla and a hot chocolate. The cafe de olla was good without added sugar. The chocolate was Abuelitas and although we have it at home all the time, this one was extra good. I'm not sure what else they add to it but it was great. The place is very clean and the customer services is great. We will defiantly be adding this place to our rotating list of local cafes. I had came here after my husband had mentioned he enjoyed his breakfast he got while waiting for me as I was next door at the salon attending a class. The girl working in front was SO NICE, she spoke to everyone with so much respect and patience which was refreshing to experience and see. She had even allowed my husband to stay as long as he wished since he had to stay nearby until my class finished. We both very much appreciate that especially since we aren't locals and aren't familiar with the area. Everything was amazing! First time here, had the chilequiles with green sauce, came with two fried eggs and delicious refried beans (ive found it hard to get good refried beans in the bay area). AND they have cafe de olla!! It's was delicious. My partner had thee bfast sandwich and the bacon was crispy and tasty. Jamaica was refreshing. The space was cute and clean. Update: came back 2 days later, location is very convenient for me so why not :) This time I got the Caesar salad for lunch It came with: lettuce, chicken, Parmesan, mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes (didn't have bacon even tho website says bacon) Super tasty! My new favorite place to work! It took just a few minutes to realize it's a family business, with family touches. The food is deliciosoooo, the space is super clean, and most of all, the young woman who took my order gave the kind of energy that brightens your day - she was extremely genuine in her care for the customer experience. My husband and I just had the Mazapan Iced Coffee and the Caramel Iced Coffee. Both were fantastic but I have to say the Mazapan was my absolute favorite. When you walk in right away, you can tell the atmosphere is warm and relaxing. The staff are all so friendly and sweet. We got the breakfast sandwich, El Amanecer, breakfast burrito, and chilaquiles and they were all really delicious, but what had me coming back was the rompope coffee. First time I've had it, and it's the BEST coffee I've ever had. One of the workers said they taste all the drinks to make sure it tastes good, and had us try free samples of their agua frescas. I'm glad we're only visiting family for the weekend, otherwise my wallet would be in trouble haha. But the next time we visit, I'm definitely coming back for more delicious food and drinks. I always order the Cafe de Olla but today I tried the Mazapan iced coffee and since I was early decided to grab a light lunch- ordered the "quates" carne asada tacos. I have to admit I was not expecting much since it's a coffee shop but boy was I wrong! The tacos were frickin delicious! Tortillas had to of been freshly made and the quality of the meat were pure perfection. So all combined, the excellent customer service, the food and the chill ambiance led to the 5 star review. And the cafe has a menu of real Mexican antojitos. So today I went for sopes. Marcel was gone and the counter person was friendly and efficient. the Agua Fresca Sandia was great, real fresh watermelon. The sope was excellent. Two different salsas were distinctive and good.
