Absolutely delightful little café with all the breakfast and lunch items you could want. Staff are very fun and friendly. And the vibe is cozy and casual. Food was delicious!

Stopped here for a quick brunch before an event in Alameda. There was a line of about 10 people but it moved quick, the staff is definitely hustling when it's busy! I had an iced Mexican mocha that was delicious, definitely recommend. For food I got the chicken and pesto sandwich, which was tasty. I did think the chicken was a bit bland, and could have used more pesto. Also the sandwich was so hot and the parchment paper seemed to have melted a bit into it, so had to dig some of that out. Overall a solid option if you're lucky for a quick breakfast or lunch.

Surprised I haven't reviewed Wescafe yet! Wescafe has been a staple cafe/restaurant on Alameda's west side for a long time, and we've been here a number of times over the years. Including today, on the eve of 2026, to fuel up for a day and night of ringing in a new year. NYE is always a big deal to me as I, perhaps naively, hope for a better year ahead. This is a cozy spot for breakfast or lunch. Cozy, but not cramped. Nicely laid out and tastefully decorated. There is ample seating, inside, as well as on the lovely patio/garden in the back, but it does get busy. The place is popular, and for good reason. The menu has something for everyone: Breakfast plates, bagels and breakfast sandwiches, omelettes, frittatas, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. They have an extensive menu of espresso drinks, so if you like coffee, this is your place. Also, fresh squeezed juices and smoothies, wine, and beer. A hardworking group of people keep this place running smoothly, despite how busy they get. When you visit, say hi to Pepe, and tell him Andrea and Richard sent you.

Casual dine in cafe with indoor and very limited outdoor seating. The ambiance is very serene yet vibrant; I love the calming energy and vibes here. I had tried the caramel latte, chai tea latte and some pastries, one of the best that I've had. I can't speak for the other items as I've not tried it yet but I look forward to next time. Aside from food and drinks, they have a small selection of WesCafe merchandise shirts on the side wall; there are other candles, tea, mugs and other little trinkets for sale. The staff are very kind and polite; they go above and beyond to make sure that your order is right. It's obvious that they take pride in what they do. I love their positive attitude and energy. I am looking forward to trying something new on their menu, next time around!

Walt from Walt's Adventures currently adventuring in Alameda, California and I find myself at the Wescafe. This eatery has street parking and both indoor and outdoor back patio seating. Our party ordered and chose our experience to be stationed in the back for it was covered and serene. Their menu items were not extensive but sufficient for too many choices can be exhausting. Their food was quite good. I would highly recommend this restaurant for their primary focus was relaxation. Both their Inside our outside environments had a sense of tranquility. 4 of 5 for their timing was not in sync during our visit. Each of our selections arrived at different times and beverages were purchased individually. If you're looking for an alternative to the usual but just a place away from the hustle of the city then look no further than Wescafe.

Casual dine-in café with outdoor seating. You place your order at the counter, and the staff brings the food to your table. The team is friendly and welcoming. My breakfast was delicious, and I loved the latte art on my coffee. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable--I really liked spending time there with friends.

Great cappuccino this morning, the photo is of my second one as I drank the first one before I thought to take a photo. Lovely cafe, with a nice vibe inside and out. Nice people work there, too!

1465 Webster St Alameda, CA 94501…read more I had a fair experience here on a Sunday morning for breakfast. I had a day planned that included cleaning the garage, so I figured a big breakfast would be good. I walked in just before 9am, and the place was empty. A waitress greeted me and told me to sit anywhere. It's actually hard to pick a table when the place is empty. Cape 7 has a fairly large dining room. It used to be a Sizzler Restaurant. Before Cape 7, it was "Shell Shock." Cape 7 never changed the Shell Shock decor, so it has a nautical theme. A pirate stands guard by the restrooms. So I sat at a booth by the window. I sat back and the bench seat was broken. A gentleman raced over and switched the bench seats. Wow, you have to be careful when you sit down at Cape 7. I ordered a Denver Omelette w/ hash browns, a side of Pancakes, and Coffee. It took about 10-min for my food to come. By 9am more customers came in. After my food arrived, I didn't see a waitress or waiter for 20-mins. Then the owner arrived, and a waitress checked on my table every 5 mins. The Denver Omelette was made with 4 eggs. The serving size was pretty large. The two pancakes were a bit dry. I needed more butter and syrup. Instead, I used alot of jams (that were on the table). The food was okay, I might come back for breakfast again. Off street parking lot in back.

The French toast combo was basic. The sausage links were under cooked, the over medium eggs were more over easy and the French toast took too long. As I was leaving at 11 a live band was getting ready to perform. I don't plan to come back.

Service was quiet but attentive, which made the whole experience feel effortless. The food was the real star. We started with the Brussels sprouts (light, crispy, and perfectly cooked), calamari (well‑seasoned and not heavy at all), and warm biscuits with whipped honey butter--so good. The clam chowder stole the show for us: poured tableside, rich but not heavy, and full of flavor. For entrées, the seafood pasta was fantastic, the lobster rigatoni was delicious (just wished for a bit more lobster), the ribeye was cooked perfectly, and the lamb--while tasty--could've used a touch more time. Overall, this place is an easy 5 stars. Beautiful atmosphere, great service, and memorable food. I'll definitely be back to try the dishes we couldn't get to.

I was surprised that I didn't have to hold the reservations with a credit card which was nice. We arrived a few minutes early and waited just a few minutes before our table was ready. As soon as we sat down the hostess asked if we needed any waters. Our waiter Jacob also came around right away to see if we wanted to order any drinks, we ordered the old fashioned, the Mai tai special, and margarita. Drinks came back pretty quick which was good. All the drinks tasted pretty good. For starters we ordered the calamari for the table, fruit salad, clam chowder, and a wedge salad. The calamari came out first, it was cooked perfect, had good flavor to it, the Brussel sprouts mixed with it was tasty, and the lemon sauce that came with it was refreshing. The clam chowder was excellent but it was more like a cup than a bowl. The wedge salad was okay, I've never had eggs in my wedge before, and it could use some better bacon bits or whatever it was for the bits of meat. The fruit salad was great. For our entrees we ordered the Ribeye, the Lamb chops, the Pork chop, the New York or Sirloin, and the Duck Breast. The good thing is that all of the entrees came with sides versus a la cart. The entrees came out after a while which wasn't too bad. It seemed like they only had one waiter taking orders for all the tables. Ribeye, Lamb Chops, Pork Chop Sirloin, and the Duck Breast were cooked perfect, med rare, and great flavor on all the meats. The ribeye was a little tough which was weird since it was cooked perfect., so I don't why that was. All the sides (cream spinach, mashed potatoes, corn, brussel sprouts) were very good. For dessert we shared the Strawberry Shortcake and the Churros. Two great desserts, fluffy bread, tasty strawberries, the sauce was perfect, the churros came out hot, nice crunch to them, and the flavor was great. Overall, a great place to have dinner. The restaurant has plenty of seating. We go all around the bay area and I believe prices are pretty high for drinks, soups, salads, and desserts. We didn't have any Italian food but looking at the menu, they could be just a tad high as well. Our waiter Jacob did a great job.

Located on the corner of Central and Webster, 1400 Bar & Grill has been an Alameda West End staple for many years, and we have been customers for over a decade. This place is great for any meal of the day, and as a late-night spot. When we come for brunch, I'll usually go with the Greek veggie omelette. When in the mood for pizza, their veggie pizza is honestly one of the best ones I've had - loaded with fresh veggies and in a pesto sauce - noms. They have a very nice patio in the back that's perfect to hang out on when the weather is warmer. If you're into sports, this seems to be a popular spot at which to watch 'the game'. For food, the hamburger was really good and hit the spot, even if it was a little on the pricier side at just over $19. However, do not order the beignets. I've had beignets all across different continents and restaurants worldwide, and these were at the absolute bottom of the list. They tasted like basic, quick-fried puff pastry with powdered sugar thrown on top. Overall, it's a friendly spot with a solid burger. But then we found Portal! We're not fussy people, and we loved the more down-to-earth vibe of their patio. Plus, it's got heaters and an extendable cover, which was exactly what we wanted! The previous owner, Kevyn, was great to work with, as was the current owner, Mona. We decided to rent the patio and have Portal provide drink service and dishes, but we knew that we wanted a specific restaurant (which doesn't have its own seating area) to provide the food. Kevyn and Mona were both totally down for that, and completely helped us bring our vision to life. There was space for our 50 guests to sit, for the buffet, plus enough space left over for a small dance floor area. Really perfect for our group. Amber, their bartender and events coordinator, deserves a particular shout-out. She worked with my spouse and me to come up with three custom mocktails that fit our taste preferences and even thought of cute love-themed names for all of them!
