I came here for one reason only for the milk bread cinnamon roll with brown butter, cream cheese frosting!!! I've been following the baker for sometime now. I've been on a hunt for good cinnamon rolls it was amazing soft and fluffy. Try to get there as early as possible as they run out they usually have different rotations on their pastries, but the cinnamon rolls are a consistent item that stays . Next time I plan on trying their coffee This place is cash less . Parking is street parking line goes by quickly friendly staff. Cost $7

We were in the Bay Area for my husband's birthday and I wanted to stop by my hometown to walk around Park St in the afternoon. We both needed a pick-me-up so I came across Signal Coffee while checking Yelp for recommendations. We were immediately greeted warmly by staff. The shop is small, with limited seating indoors and a few chairs and tables outside. It was a beautiful (unseasonably warm) February day, so we wanted to sit for a bit outside anyway. Competition from Starbucks and Peet's is right next door, but that doesn't matter when supporting a local business that brews delicious coffee. The menu is limited, which means quality is first and foremost in mind. I was drawn to the unique latte choices, and ultimately went with a large iced black sesame latte with oat milk. My husband went with a large iced dulce de latte with oat milk. Our drinks were made in almost no time, and of course paired with a smile. We took our coffees out to the outdoor seating area with a grand view of the historic Alameda Theatre. While the lattes are on the pricier side of what I'm generally used to, the quality shines through. These were definitely some of the smoothest lattes I've had in a while, and the flavors of the black sesame and dulce de leche were delightful. After sitting and enjoying the fresh air for a while, we brought our coffees with us to finish enjoying them after a walk on Bay Farm Island. What a way to wrap up our lovely afternoon. We will be back to support Signal Coffee Roasters the next time we're in the area!

The best coffee option on Park street. Small seating area inside and outside-much smaller vs Webster. Their pastries are also amazing-our faves are the brown butter salted chocolate cookie and their donuts.

Been here a few times since they have opened - consistently good. Love that they provide a birthday discount that allows for two months of redemption. Strong macchiato and smooth almond decaf latte. The empanada shell was flaky and crisp and lots of filling! The breakfast sandwich has a thick layer of pillowy egg and cream cheese - opted out of the ham. Strong quick brunch game out of the area's independent cafes. No cash accepted and no more Model Bakery English muffins. Stool seating inside and a few tables outside, no bathrooms. Standard service.

Came here for an ube latte and got 4 shots of espresso which might have been my mistake. I couldn't taste the ube too much but looking at something purple and drinking it makes me feel like i'm tasting ube (good enough) don't get 4 shots if you want to be able to taste the ube! SIGNAL is a super cute little coffee shop in Alameda and I will definitely be back to try other lattes that I don't quiet see often

Signal Coffee has great coffee and such nice service! Thx for the perfect latte Elsa!

I love this coffee shop! It's so cute, everyone is so nice, and there are so many options for drinks and food. A received a gift card from one of my students and was able to use that. It's a little pricey for sure, but worth it. I've tried a few drinks, but this time I got 2 Ube Lattes (one with oat milk and one with whole milk), a cappuccino with oat milk, and a mushroom empanada with two kinds of sauce.

    Disappointingly over steamed "lattes"
    Zach C.

I was really surprised based on how great their lattes look in photos, but ended up with two very mediocre cups of latte. This was honestly some of the worst coffee I've ever had. Unfortunately, I was in a rush and didn't have time to go back for a refund. I ordered a black sesame latte and an ube latte. By the time I tried them in the car, one burned my tongue and both tasted burnt. There was no thick foam like you'd expect from a latte--just big bubbles, like something you'd get from a cheap automated coffee machine. Definitely not coming back here.

In town for work, I looked up roasters nearby and I'm very glad I found this place. Very unique drinks on the menu, the Ube is amazing. Had a classic cappuccino, the barista did an excellent job with the ratio of wet to dry foam. Cute little sitting area in front and out front by the famous Alameda theatre. Had a croissant and it was a great texture, perfect for dipping in my cappuccino. I'll definitely try the chocolate one next time!

I came in around 8:30, a few tables outside had people drinking their coffees and eating breakfast. When I walked in, only one guy was waiting for his order. There was only one person working. I understand she was the only one preparing coffee and food. I'm not trying to complain about the wait, but the lack of acknowledging a customer to say it will take some time. I finally ordered an iced latte. I do think they have some creative drinks, but I know they are usually too sweet and I just opt for a plain iced latte instead. It was an ok latte, nothing amazing. Mint Iced Vietnamese Coffee ($6ish/5*). Tried this during the last holidays and it was fantastic. I already love Vietnamese coffee and this had a soft cream on top with grated mint candy. So festive and just hit for that season. Wonder if they can do it all year round? Smoked Salmon Bagel ($9.50/4*) Nice toasty smaller bagel with all the usuals of soft lox n cream cheese, capers and red onions. Loved the compact size as it didn't put a lead weight in my gut in the AM hours. The bagel crust tho is kinda hard and brittle, almost crouton hard which I thought was strange. But the interior was indeed soft yet chewy. Iced Cold Brew ($4/4*) Pretty smooth. I only asked for a kiss of cream and it was just right. I prefer a more robust roast finish but still quite serviceable. I liked how the owner knew a lot of the customers by name. Since I'm not a reg, I actually was the only one who didn't get called by name on a weekday morning. Love the small town vibe and even tho not a reg, I'd still hit this up if in the neighborhood.

Although I haven't tried many of their drinks, I can say that their matcha latte has been consistently good. Today I ordered one with almond milk and the matcha flavor is nicely balanced. Good ratio between matcha and milk. The matcha itself tastes pretty well rounded - not bitter, but also not too subtle in flavor. I probably got the matcha here like three times and it has not failed me yet. My partner really enjoys the Malasada but they can sell out pretty quickly. Previously I've tried their Ube Crinkle and their donuts and they were pretty good as well. This time, I wanted something a little less sweet and small so I tried the Bibingka which was great! I love mochi and the Bibingka had a mochi texture to it. It comes with some pineapple bits which I tend to avoid, but my desire to try something new overrode that today and thankfully, the bits were small. It's a dense little bite, but I enjoyed it! A perfect little bike treat. I don't get much interaction here with the workers since it's such a quick stop, but it's okay. I think depending on what time you go, it just gets really busy and employees are just trying to chug out the orders. We'll be back again for those delicious drinks and pastries though!
