They had a buffet when I came here for lunch. Good selection - my favorite was the red chile beef. There wasn't as much flavor as I was expecting, so I dock one star for that. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive, though the restaurant was far from full. The best part was that the buffet includes guacamole - that can cost up to $3 on the East Coast! read more

We've had a home in CG for about 12 years now and enjoy Mexican food out every month or so. My wife loves Cafe De Manuel and the Enchilada Suise. I always like the Chimichanga and enjoy it equally here or at Eva's down the street. So.........Cafe De Manuel or Eva's is the debate when we go out. I have to say that the ambiance at Cafe De Manuel is starting to become an issue in our discussions and lately Eva's is winning. Nothing has changed in over a decade and Cafe De Manuel is seriously tired looking. I always wonder what the back end looks like if the front end is so tired. Old carpet, furniture and lighting better suited for a hospital operating room doesn't help. The food continues to keep us coming though. It's fantastic and consistent. No issues there. The staff recognize us which maybe helps, we have never had a service issue. We have two little girls 8&10 and they always are made to feel welcome. Chips, beans and salsa to start as soon as we are seated makes them and us very happy to go there. Quick with drink refills always. Please folks, spend some $$$ and update your place. You will get it back when people find the experience to be tasty AND contemporary. Not everyone wants only good food; the atmosphere is important too. Tonite we went to Cafe De Manuel after several months of Eva's. The food and service as usual were fantastic. So thought i would post on Yelp. Hope the owners are reading this. We so wanted this place to be great. When we walked to the entrance, there was a huge white teddy bear and an plastic lunch box filled with odd stuff on the walkway. Nobody around that it could've owned it. That was weird. Inlet the waitress know. The inside had fluorescent lighting. It was like eating in a cafeteria. The chair I sat on was wobbly, I had to change it out. We got our drinks quickly, but the waitress took ten minutes to take our order. We waited 45 minutes for our food. And there were only 6 tables. There were only 2 people working the dining room and I believe their was only 1 cook and 1 dishwasher. The food wasn't great either. I got enchilada beans. They didn't have rice. They said they ran out. So the waitress offered me French fries instead of rice. I asked if I could just have a dinner salad instead of fries. She said yes. Well, when I got my salad, it consisted of a tiny bit of shredded iceberg lettuce, a few pieces of tomato, and a few pieces of onion.Nothing else. No dressing. We had to ask for refills of tea and water. It just wasn't good all around. We didn't even eat all of our meal. I was searching for a place that serves Chili Rellenos and found Cafe de Manuel, 1300 Pinal. Gotta tell you, you won't be disappointed. Served with rice n beans it was a Great meal. Chips, salsa, a bowl of beans helps while you look over the menu. Don't miss this gem of a restaurant. Alicia was our server n made sure the drinks were filled. Probably the best Mexican food in Casa Grande.For years my wife and I drove past this place, sometimes it was packed, sometimes it wasn't. So after 5 years of living here, we tried it and loved it. The food is flavorful with an even level of spice. Most places over do the spice to compensate for lack of flavor. Not this place. The meat on multiple dishes still has an independent taste while mixing well with the sauces and add-on's. To make it simple, most small family owned restaurants have one taste that has coated everything in the kitchen whether it's salad, chicken or pork. This isn't one of those restaurants. I would also like to add, this place is giving you bang for your buck. Price is moderate for the are area, while portions are generous. Service varies and can be slow, at times. I lived here in Casa Grande 17 yrs ago. Cafe De Manuel's was my favorite place then and it still is today! When I come out to visit I have to eat there at least every other day so I can get as much as I can while I am here. Absolutely awesome food! The taco salad made with Carne asada and add beans "Rupert style" should be world famous! They make everything fresh every single day! They even make their chips! Always fresh, hot and wonderful! Terrible, called ahead and got a reservation for 20 people. When I arrived there was no room for 20 people unless we sat in several places and split our group. The manager just didn't care that we were upset. Very sad we left and had to find a last min alternative. read more

I'm going to be short and to the point. The service is REALLY Slow and sucks! But the food is absolutely Top Notch, and worth the wait! Ask to sit in the enclosed patio it's about 10 deg cooler than the rest of the restaurant. If not for the slow service I would have given it 4****! read more

Cut and paste mexican food. Bit pricey, nothing special. We don't usually go by the book, but we knew nothing of Casa Grande and a friend had given us a tour book for our trip. This place was "highly recommended." While passable, I don't know anyone who would highly recommend this place. Generous with the chip and salsa refills, which is something. Can't recall what was ordered. Red chili chimichanga? Amigo got the red chili burrito (same thing sans deep-frying/sour cream/guacamole). Fair amount of food, but not particularly large portions. The chips helped to make up for that. But, we were tricked into adding the $1.50 "salads" onto our meals, which amounted to little more than half-handfuls of shredded iceberg on a small corner our each of our plates. Such "additions" usually come with a full plate of Mexican food and weren't worth $0.15. Damn you and your misleading offer. I'd say it's because of the $3 you took from us for that that we won't be returning, but we wouldn't be returning anyway. Too 'meh.' I'd have given three stars if it hadn't been for those damn "salads." 2 stars. read more

Visited on Labor Day. Two waitress in the whole establishment. Very slow! Took forever to get water that was asked for when ordering drinks. Had 5 SMALL bowls of chips while waiting for food. Took at least 45 minutes to get food. My parents order beef fajitas to share. Came with one tortilla. When asked for more was told that they would charge. Asked to speak to manager. When he came to the table he was only able to explain that it was one order and you only get one tortilla. He didn't speak English to explain in detail. The waitress had brought us two more tortillas and the manager was stuck on that fact. There was no way that the tortilla would have held the amount of fajitas that were served. I ordered chilie rellano. It was okay. We will not return! There was minimal customer service. read more

This has been by far the best Mexican restaurant I've been to since I've moved to Casa Grande. Place has fantastic service and the food was perfect especially with a great price point. The chips for an appetizer were warm and served with not only salsa but a great bean dip. They were even installin' a new computer system and it still didn't really effect the wait of anythin'. Teresa should not be allowed to be a manager at any restaurant!!!! I called to complain about the food, prices and service and she told me quote: "If you want it better than go to another restaurant" Who says that about a place that they manage????? She wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise and then hung up on me!!! We got a carne asada plate, green chili burrito and 3 tamales which by the way came enchilada style which we didn't know was served that way and wasn't stated on the menu that they were served that way and when the server brought them to the table she said "that's how they come" and refused to take them back and bring us tamales plain. We also had to keep asking for refills and she never bothered to come check on us. The place wasn't busy at all and the servers were just standing around talking and for the little bit that we got our bill was $43!!! Seriously??? This is the WORST consumer service my family has ever experienced. The buffet table was empty and we waited almost an hour for half of it to be filled. Our waitress filled a table of three guys with drinks and chips several times but never filled our table once and our table was right next to them. We paid for our meal anyway and voiced our complaint but the cashier acted as if she didn't care. Needless to say, we will not be returning any time soon. read more

This is my first Yelp review, and so it should say something that I'm taking the time to write 1.) a negative one, and 2.) one on a relatively obscure business. We were visiting family in Casa Grande, and they recommended this place after having some reasonable food there previously. Unfortunately, we enjoyed only average fare compounded by "mixed" service (the younger hostess was extremely nice, the older waitress extremely rude) and at least a 30-minute wait for our entrees. This seems to be a common theme with many of the recent reviews. In sum, I'd skip this place, as there has to be better alternatives in the area. read more

Used to fairly regularly drive 50 miles from Mesa just for the lunch buffet here. One time, they'd packed it up early because things were slow, but at least set it back up for me. This last time, the rice was noticeably dried out, and the refried beans had been reduced to a crust resembling parched desert. When I asked the manager if these items were going to be freshened up, she copped an attitude instead. "These *are* fresh!" she insisted, plowing the old rice under with a spoon, and angrily trying and failing to stir new life into the crusty beans. "No, these are disgusting," I said, and walked out. I have always enjoyed Manuel's and was a regular dining spot for my mom and myself.. I went recently after not attending there for many years and was a bit disappointed. The food was still good but it could of been better. It's almost like the flare they used to have was gone.. I still would recommend this place for out of towner's for locals, I think we all know it's not as it used to be unfortunately. I am more than willing to go back and give it another try though. My wife and I have eaten here a lot since we have been together and have seen a steep decline in service. We have eaten here about 10 times in the last 6 months and every time we sit on the patio. We expect to be forgotten a bit being away from the dining room but the waitress had taken our order and then never came back. we waited 30 minutes just to get a refill on the chips.... We ended up leaving without food because we were not served. When the waitress came up to counter to take the food off of our bill she did not say a word and just smiled at us. The manager was standing 20 feet away and also was not interested enough. I will not be eating here again which sucks because my wife and I used to love the place. We loved this place! The food was excellent, service good and friendly, cozy, festive décor. We left feeling full and satisfied.

This is now my go to place for tacos! There had to be 1/4 pound of shredded beef in each taco! The salsa was also very good, and the red chili was pretty good too. Food was a little slow to come out, so I probably wouldn't go if I was in a hurry, but they kept the chips and salsa coming so we didn't mind. read more
