Came as part of my 5,700 mile food tour. After a lap around the food hall, I had my eyes on two spots. So I chose this for lunch and came back for dinner round 2! Counter service to order the Chicago style gyro" (ribeye, lettuce, tomato, pickle, pasley onion, tzatziki). I loved the blend of flavors and uniqueness of the item! Everything was cooked perfectly. The steak was cut and cooked nicely but lacked a splash of seasoning. The other ingredients made up for it.

We grabbed takeout from here when the market was really busy for the holidays. The food still came out pretty quickly. The pasta is homemade and made in a giant Parmesan wheel. The flavor was amazing and the pasta had a great texture.

    The "gyro"

Prices were outrageous, but I was willing to try it because I was in the mood for a gyro. It wasn't a gyro, basically a chewy steak fajita. There was no feta, no tzatziki on the "gyro". I tried to communicate with them to resolve the issue as my order was for take out and they never responded. There are plenty of far better options at the market or in Grand Rapids. Avoid this place

Athens gyro rice bowl with side kale salad

I'm so glad Cafe de Miro has a space in the Downtown Market. I've been to their original location in Breton Village and have always enjoyed it. The Downtown Market is more conveniently located for us, so Nate and I stopped by for lunch. The menu includes a couple of breakfast options, paninis, soups, salads, appetizers, dips, rice bowls, pitas/sandwiches, and fries bowls. I love the variety and that there's something for everyone, including some healthier options. We went with the Athens gyro rice bowl and added a side of kale salad. Our food was prepared quickly and packaged nicely. The included hand wipe was appreciated! I was very impressed by the freshness and quality of the meal, which was around $16 before tip. The bowl included strips of beef and lamb, parsley, onion, tomato, feta, and tzatziki with the rice. The side of kale salad was a generous portion and was super bright and flavorful without being overly dressed. The meat was tender and well seasoned, and the rice was amazing. We both kept mentioning how buttery and delicious it was! The size was great to split between the two of us as we weren't super hungry. I really loved this meal and would eat it again any day. I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu at this location as it's a bit different than the Breton Village spot.

While walking around the market, we decided to grab an early dinner from Cafe de Miro! The menu had tons of options and the staff was very friendly. I went with the Athens Gyro with fries and my wife had the Chicken Gyro with a Green Salad. Honestly, everything was delicious but the fries were very average. They could make the fries into more of a Greek fry with olive oil, seasoning, and feta and the it would be fantastic without increasing costs too much. The gyros were very generous in size and full of meat. My wife enjoyed her side salad which was fresh and also a great portion! Overall, another great addition to the Downtown Market! We will definitely come back.

Cafe de Miro offers the best Kofta I've had in Grand Rapids thus far. After frequenting the Breton village location, I was a big fan of their Paninis, but since they didn't have my go-to bell pepper and goat cheese panini, I opted for a kofta bowl instead. Everything was freshly prepared, as I watched the chef assemble my bowl. While the portions weren't as large as I would've hoped, it was certainly a meal of quantity over quality, true to the Mediterranean mindset. The grains were hearty, perfectly cooked, and a perfect compliment for the kofta. The salad was fresh, bright, and offered contrast and acidity for the meal. The kofta itself was incredibly tender, juicy, and almost fell apart upon touch. I could taste a bit of starch in it, which helped it achieve that beautiful texture. My friend got the lentil soup and said it was also delicious If you're looking for a cost friendly, healthy, and delicious meal next time you're at the downtown market, definitely give this place a try!

Don't overlook this spot! It's in the downtown market! Get the Athens gyro bowl! Lamb. Beef. Rice. Kale salad. Garlic sauce. This thing will feed two hungry people, 3 regular Portions. This bowl is good. 5 stars. It will fill you up and make you feel good about yourself because it's healthy! The falafels are spot on. Desserts will be next.

This has to be the best experience that I have had at a restaurant or anywhere ever. I ordered the pasta fettuccine alfredo with chicken, as was recommended by the owner, saying it was best. The owner had immense kindness and obviously cared very much about his food and his customers. The pasta is the best that I have ever had, and I would highly recommend for anyone to come here over any other restaurant in Grand Rapids.

Fresh choices, very interesting menu. Small cafe so it can get crowded. Service took long for simply an espresso. Otherwise it would be 5*

I'm a huge snob, even when it comes to dive restaurants. I have resolved to only write positive reviews on places that I believe truly deserve the praise they have earned. This is one of those places. This joint is completely unassuming. Sparse decoration, low drop-tile ceiling, brightly lit (too bright for your usual Mediterranean joint), HDTV menus near the front register... But, does a restaurant need anything other than a great menu and delicious, freshly prepared, well-spiced fare to be an amazing experience? I answer loudly "NO!" This restaurant is wonderful. They serve some of the best Mediterranean food I've had, and I've been many places throughout the US and internationally. Finding this in my own back yard makes me so happy to live in GR. My wife and I split the spicy feta fries, which neither of us could stop shoving in our mouths. Now, a bit about me - I survived a massive heart attack five years ago. Five bypasses. Month in a coma. Six months learning to walk again. I SHOULD NOT BE EATING FRIES!! And yet... I couldn't help myself. Each bite was perfection in crispy potato form. And a heavy garlic presence. The toum is worth it. Completely worth it. Gives Sheshco a serious run for best in town. Not greasy or too "mayonnaise-y." She had the shish tawook ("chicken kabob") and I had a gyro pita. Her chicken was stunningly tender and temptingly well-seasoned. Rice was floral and delicious. Hummus, not quite garlicky enough, but smooth and refreshing. And the Nutella cheesecake was heavy and smooth and wonderful. My gyro was obviously done in-house, same as the pickled turnips ("liyft"). love pickled turnips, and I truly believe that these aren't the commercially available jarred ones. Gyro meat was well-spiced, perfectly tasty and amazingly tender. The service was warm and friendly. Wife and I will be back again...and again. We hope to see you there!! Worth a drive and some time. Bring an empty tummy and get ready to enjoy!!

Our host was super kind, helpful with the menu and had a sense of humor. Grape leaves - I believe it was cold if I remember, and it's a softer/mushy texture. The host called it "Turkish Sushi." It was good and different! Appetizers- phenomenal. Fresh, hot, flavorful. We had cheese served on a hot stone, it was beautiful. Nothing was over or under seasoned. Everything was cooked perfectly. Nice fry, nice bake, nice sizzles. Salmon was cooked just right. Calamari was fried great and had a good crunch. Feta borek reminded me of crab cheese ragoons. I love the way it's prepared though, even bites and good flaky crunch. The shell is light and wasn't greasy. Baklava was delicious. Rice pudding was delicious. Drinks were on point. 10/10 will be back again!

Zeytin serves authentic Turkish cuisine along with other middle eastern and American food. A table favourite was the Pepper Delight. Basically, chopped red and green peppers combined with walnuts and tomato. I highly recommend both the Rice pudding and the Fried calamari. Nice big plate I had almost all to myself. The service was friendly and somewhat attentive. My friend, Darius, ordered the Chicken shish kebab and the pita was dry, cold and stale. They immediately returned with fresh, hot, moist bread. The wait for the initial order and drink refills was a bit longer. The dining area is large, yet cozy. The eatery has a very embracing, warm ambiance and it's a great gluten-free zone. The guy that suggested we stop here eats vegan. 01/26
